My Favorite Post From The Week

I saw this post last week and bawled like a baby through the whole thing.  If you have a son(s) you TOTALLY need to check it out.  In case you don't believe me, read this excerpt...

So today as your husband looks up at me and smiles and coos, I will think of you. I will pray for you. And I will do my best by you to raise a man among men. A leader among leaders. And to help him be strong, resilient, brave, loving, and humble. A good man in a storm.
Love,
Your Future Mother-in-Law
I mean.

So awesome.

My New Favorite Drink

I have always been a Starbucks "purist".  Hot tea in the morning, iced tea in the afternoon.
That was until a SWEET SWEET SWEET blog reader INSISTED that I try a green tea lemonade with peach.  I was skeptical - but I had a free drink on my gold card and so I gave it a whirl.
And my life will never be the same.  Amen.

Do yourself a favor and get one today!  And then again tomorrow.  And then maybe again the day after that.

Favorite 4!
My new favorite craft!

I posted our back-to-school decorations on Tuesday and promised a tutorial for the apple I hung above my stove - so here it is. hahaha  Hopefully it's better than my American flag tutorial :)

I originally planned on making this out of burlap - but didn't have any at home, so I pulled out some canvas material I had in my stash and sketched out an apple.

I cut two of them out (they look different - but I promise they're the same.... I just cut the two layers of material together.

I used acrylic paint to paint my apple - BE WARNED! The canvas SUCKS UP THE PAINT!  I used paint I had around, but the red took an entire bottle.

I let it dry for a couple of hours and then started to assemble it.  The paint kind of shrunk the painted apple, but no worries!  I started at the stem and hot glued around the edge.

Originally I was going to stuff it full of grocery bags, but (despite the giant pile on my counter) I didn't have enough.  so I busted out my trusty roll of butcher paper and started tearing off sections and stuffing it.  Once it was stuffed to my liking, I hot glued it closed and then trimmed the edges.

I took some wire I had in my junk drawer, doubled it up and used a TON of hot glue to adhere it to the back.  I trimmed off the excess wire and it was ready to go!

It didn't turn out like I planned it to - but I think I love it more :)  I have plans to make these for LOTS of different occasions (I'm thinking a pumpkin, birthday cake for the kids birthdays, shamrock, etc.!)  The best part was that it cost me $0 to make.  That's right.  Nothing.

A Favorite Summer Pic/Memory
I was looking through pictures last week and came across this one of me and my cousin back in 1992.

This was at my grandparents cottage (one of my favorite places!), making mud pies (one of my favorite things to do!) wearing my favorite bathing suit EVER. hahaha
sidenote: in case you were curious - my stomach still totally looks like that.  Totally. :)

Don't forget - if you missed my favorite picks from the Nordstrom Sale you can check them out HERE.

So, grab the logo, link to one (or all!) of us and share your Friday Favorites!

HAPPY WEEKEND!!!

  20. Can I ask...is it a Texas thing? I don't understand the age/grade correlation you guys have. In Tennessee, 6 year olds are in 1st grade. Your 6 year old is in pre-k still? What? He's so big. He totally looks like a first grader to me.

    1. Hey! I actually addressed this in my post here:

      http://www.momfessionals.com/2014/04/round-two.html

Luke started PreK at 4, did two years of PreK and is now entering Kinder as a six year old.

I don't think it's a "Texas thing" as much as it is a doing what's best for your child thing. Hope that answers your question! :)

  21. (as I'm sure you can tell by all of my comments, I'm catching up on my blog reading! haha) Girl, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE peach green tea lemonade! I'm surprised I didn't see this sooner! I discovered it last summer and have been hoping it would come back this summer. It's so depressing because when they run out of peach... it's gone! Thinking of buying myself some so I can order regular green tea lemonade and make my own at home! Haha.
