Week one of summer is in the books and it was a great one although I don't have a ton of pics to show for it ;) 

All three kids went to church camp and had an absolute blast.  This was a FAVORITE for all of them and these pics hands down were my FAVE...

Broccoli Salad

 Today I'm re-sharing a super simple but DELICIOUS broccoli salad recipe.  I made this last night to serve alongside burgers and while it's not REALLY a salad it's the absolute best and the leftovers are to die for so make sure you add it to your radar this summer!

Reading Recap

Now that summer is here I'm hoping to update y'all A LOT more frequently on what I'm reading.  

I listened to The House In The Cerulean Sea last week and I can't stop thinking about it.  It felt unique and special and listening to it on audible was a delight.  The characters were endearing and the whole concept was unlike anything I've read before.

It wasn't my intention to "go dark" yesterday but life was LIFING and with yesterday being the last day of school I had some stuff to get under control ;). All that to say - today is OFFICIALLY my last day (yesterday was our last day with kids - today I just have meetings) and then I will be in full-on sloth mode.  PRAISE THE LORD!!!

I've followed Kari for YEARS and love literally everything she posts.  She's full of parenting wisdom and I constantly find myself nodding along with her posts.  Griffin and I got to hear her speak in person and I love her even more after that.

Sky Ranch

 If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time you probably know that we LOVE Sky Ranch.   It started back in 2017 when the boys went to Day Camp at MCA and to say we were all in would be the understatement of the year.  I mean - here's photographic proof of how in we were ;)

Summer Puzzling

    It's no secret that I LOVE doing puzzles.  LOVE THEM!  I've always enjoyed a puzzle and once my kids were all out of toddlerhood have pretty much always had one going during summer and breaks from school.  During quarantine back in 2020 my love really ramped up and this is when I was able to get my kids a bit more in love as well.  Today I thought I'd share some of my favorite kinds of puzzles, brands of puzzles and answer some puzzle questions I get ;)  With summer upon us it's time for puzzles!!!

Happy Friday, friends! Well... I did it.  This was the LAST full week of the school year and I honestly can't believe it.  This school year has absolutely FLOWN by! Next week we have half days for exams (PRAISE HANDS!) and then it's FREEDOM!

Survivor is an oldie but a goodie.  Griffin and several of her friends have all been watching Survivor and are LOVING IT!

Carrot Cake

 My parents both LOVE carrot cake (as do I) - so when we celebrated their birthdays a week or so ago I decided to try out a new recipe and OH MY WORD it was so good!  If you love a carrot cake with nuts and raisins and pineapples and all the things then this is the recipe for you!

 I mommed HARD this weekend with birthday parties and dance recitals and all the things ;) I decided to give myself today (Sunday) off to do NOTHING, including the blog, so I'll be back tomorrow with all the fun things.  I hope your weekend was filled with lots of your favorite things AND a hefty helping of nothing as well!

Happy Friday, friends! There is SO MUCH happening right now - this is seriously the craziest 3 weeks of the year - but so many of my FAVORITE things happening!

First up - we went to the art showcase earlier this week to see Mason's art on display.  

Teacher Gift Ideas

      Today I'm sharing gift ideas for teachers.  I get this question A LOT this time of year and I always hesitate to share since I don't have a ton of new and unique ideas - but with as busy as this time of the year is I hope this post helps out a bit! 

I know that this can be a bit overwhelming ESPECIALLY if you have a middle or high schooler (or both!) who have 7+ teachers and one idea is to find a few other parents in the same boat as you and pool your gifts together to get one gift card or other gift for each teacher. Keep that in mind as you're reading! ;)

 - NOTE/GIFT CARD -

I get asked a lot about what I like to receive as a teacher and people don't like to hear that it's gift cards - but as a 19-year veteran teacher please hear me - it's gift cards ;)  

 $5 to Sonic or Starbucks... A Baskin Robins gift card to take their kids out for ice cream or a Cinemark card to check out a movie with their kids over break.  A gift card for a local restaurant to enjoy a meal with their spouse or a gift card to their favorite store.  EASY!  Write a note, pop the card in the envelope and call it a day!  I know gift cards get a bad wrap for being impersonal but I think if you pick a place that you know a teacher loves or write a note about enjoying a meal with their family it can make it super personal and special.  

- OVENTURE RING AND ID HOLDER -

I use my  O-Ring every day and keep my teacher ID and key card in the  ID holder on the ring.  It makes my keys easily accessible (and identifiable if I leave them somewhere!) and the silicone are my favorite option for school because I can wipe them down with disinfectant.

Amazon Lately

I grabbed a giant bag of these magnesium bath flakes for Luke to use to help with his shin splints.  He does epsom salt pretty regularly and I read good things about magnesium flakes so I thought we'd give them a try.  I'll keep you posted on what he thinks.

Weekend Fun

This weekend was the 7th/8th Grade spring dance and I'm still wrapping my head around it being Mason's last middle school dance!  He and a few friends went out to eat before and I love how themselves they are ;)

Happy Friday, friends! I'm going to be honest - this week was super disappointing as Mason's 8th grade class trip was cancelled last minute.  We were both so looking forward to heading out West but have tried to make the most out of being at home (and sleeping in our own beds! ha!).  

The Byron Nelson golf tournament is happening in McKinney this week and Mason and my dad headed over there yesterday to check it out...
