Sir Mason The Brave asked me for a Knight party fairly out of the blue and I was happy to oblige his little four-year-old whim.
I lucked out and found the Brave Knight collection of Meri Meri products on Zulily a while ago which made decorating a total breeze. One of my favorite girls, Karla, had some great wooden shields and swords that she loaned me as well and they were a great finishing touch.
His party was on a Friday from 5:00 - 6:00 and he invited 5 friends. Two were out of town so we ended up with a small crowd.
I ordered cupcakes from Market Street and then set them in special liners and topped them off with knight toppers (from Zulily)
The little gold cups I ordered from Amazon and I gave the boys each one in their favor bags to take home as well.
I set up a little craft for when they first arrived... making shields!
I cut out shields and handle strips and put out foam stickers and lots of crayons. The boys decorated them and then I just taped the handle onto the back.
I set everything up before Dave picked everyone up from school/Miss Lisa's house and was READY to party when they got home. Don't Mason and G look excited?!?!?! ;) hahaha
Mason checked everything out and then told me he wanted to do a "princess dance" with me. I die.
Luke IMMEDIATELY wanted to change his clothes when he got home - gray shorts and a grey sweatshirt... just like a "real knights armor" ;) He shares my passion for a good theme!
After making shields, we headed outside so they could throw water balloons at our "fire breathing dragon".
Dave is THE BEST sport!!!
This is my favorite!!!
Luke throws the water balloon at Dave's chest...
It ricocheted off his chest...
And popped right at Luke's feet ;)
Priceless!!! And I love the other boys reactions ;)
We ate "royal pizza"...
... and cheersed our glasses ;)
I loved that Mason included Griffin in his party ;)
After dinner we opened presents and did a little sword fighting...
These three buddies go to Miss Lisa's house together. God Bless, Miss Lisa!
We loaded up their party bags with their shields, swords, cups, masks, party hats, hot wheels car and balloons and called it a night!
Mason told me later it was THE BEST PARTY IN THE HISTORY OF PARTIES!!! and I would have to agree. It was so fun to see him with his friends and really make it all about just him!
So stinkin cute!! Reading your blog is one of the highlights of my morning. The others being reading Erika's, Shay's, and Sheaffer's blog :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwww! Thank you!!!
DeleteNixon would have been all about throwing water balloons at Dave! Haha!! Looks like the boys had so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteI think DAve was relieved that Nix wasn't there :) hahaha
DeleteYour parties are so adorable and fantastic as always!!! :) Such sweet pics including little miss G!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute party idea!!! You're so creative!! It looks like they had a blast.
ReplyDeleteCan you do a post on how you transition from your school schedule to summer schedule? As I teacher, I would love to read about that! :) Have a wonderful day!
Thank you!!! I love that post idea, although.... we don't really have a strict "summer schedule". the first week we all stay up too late and sleep in :) And the our days usually consist of wake up, lounge around, do something in the morning (i.e. pool, museum, etc.), lunch, naps/quiet time and then an activity in the late afternoon (like a craft or new game) and then dinner and outside time. Hope that helps!!!
DeleteSuch a great party! :-) I love reading about your parties - I get so inspired! You have so many great ideas.
ReplyDeleteAwwww! Thank you!!!
DeleteHow did you fit that all in in one hour?!?! Girl! No wonder Smith had such a good time...they ate pizza, made shields and threw water balloons at Dave! Can Smith come over every Friday and play with your family? He had a BLAST!
ReplyDeleteWe move QUICK!!! And yes! Smith is welcome any time!
DeleteSo cute! My mom was big into throwing themed birthday parties for us each year, so I can't wait to do that with my kids someday!
ReplyDeleteSo fun!!! I hope I'm creating really fond memories for them as well :)
DeleteDARLING!!!! Can't wait to see G's party as well : )
ReplyDeleteThansk, Melissa!!!
DeleteCUTE!!!!! Well done AGAIN Mama!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed you did all that in just an hour!!! So glad Mason had a great party
ReplyDeleteI think over the years I've learned that however long I think an activity will take, cut that time in half because little kids move QUICK!!!
DeleteWhat a fun party!!! I love the part where the boys threw water balloons at Dave. So cute!! :)
ReplyDeleteIT was my favorite part, too! :)
DeleteHoly moly! If you ever decide not to teach, you should definitely become an interior designer or a party planner. You have mad creative skills, girl! I am extremely impressed. AWESOME!!!!!

EEEK! Thank you!!! So so so sweet!
DeleteSuch a fun party!! So glad that Mason had a blast and the other boys too!! So sweet of Mason to include Griffin :)
ReplyDeleteHe loves his little sister (most of the time!)
DeleteGreat party!!! I love throwing parties for my kids. Love the water balloon idea. Your hubby IS such a great sport. What a good daddy!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!! Kids parties are so much fun! And yes! He's AWESOME!
DeleteYou are being super mommy again!!
ReplyDeleteBLUSHING! Thank you ;) But most definitely not! If you must know I completely forgot a doctor's appointment for Griffin this past Monday and didn't really cook a meal until Thursday of this week. haahaha
DeleteYou now have me in a dilemma... Jack is going to be four in July and I had originally thought it would just be family but seeing Mason with his friends looked like so much fun. I worry about inviting his friends and the family because that is a lot of people asking for his attention {we have a HUGE family} but I think I am going to have to make some adjustments. Way too much fun. Awesome job momma! Oh and Dave wearing the dragon hat.....dad of the year. The things our men will do for our little ones is amazing isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMaybe do two separate parties? A party for family and then a special party for him and a couple of friends??? And yes.... Dave is MOST definitely dad of the year :) He rocks!
DeleteOh my goodness, the princess dance is adorable!! It makes want to have a boy!! Don't tell my husband!! And the party looks like so much fun!! Having a fire-breathing dragon is such an awesome idea!! How did you come up with it? You and Dave are such fun parents!!
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely something special about having little boys!!! I really don't remember how I came up with it... I think I was searching "knight party" supplies on Amazon and saw the fire breathing dragon hat and thought it would be a fun and EASY game :)
DeleteI love the theme! It looks like everything turned out perfectly Mason! And that is the perfect size group for a party :)
ReplyDeleteLove that photo of the ballon popping back at Luke!
That's one of my favorite pictures as well! My "take a million pics" method of photographing things paid off!
DeleteLove Griffin's necklace and bare chested eating outfit..she is adorable! All your kids are! Love your party posts!
ReplyDeleteAlways accessorized!!! hahaha Thank you!
DeleteSo cute! You always know how to throw a good party!
ReplyDeletethanks, girly!!!
DeleteAdorable!!! You are so creative and talented!! I sort of think your sweet little miss should wear shirts when you have company- especially little boys. It just seems a little uncomfortable seeing her without a top.
ReplyDeleteI honestly hadn't even ever thought about it like that... I appreciate your opinion! I'll definitely pull an old tee out next time ;)
Delete😘
DeleteAre your question marks for my comment? I was saying that I hadn't thought about it being uncomfortable before and that I'd be sure to put a t-shirt on her next time...
Deletexoxo you rock!!!
DeleteYou are such a fabulous mama! I love seeing all that you do for your kids and making each birthday ALL ABOUT THEM! I always have said that your birthday is your day! And I love that your hubby is such a good sport! What a great daddy!
ReplyDeleteDave really is the best!!! He was totally game for getting hammered with water balloons in the name of little boy fun :) hahaha and yes... I've had to "get over myself" a bit when planning parties. What is important to me really isn't important to them at all (i.e. that the food is themed or that I made a banner out of pictures of them from the year) and so I've shifted my focus a bit and it's been the best!
DeleteWhat a great party! Great idea with the cupcakes too (special liners & toppers). I may have to steal that for my next party! And all those little guys look so cute in their masks of armor!!
ReplyDeleteI always feel like when you bake them with the special liners on you lose a lot of the color and detail so this way you maintain all that! :)
DeleteWould you mind sharing where you got the big silver knight masks that the boys are wearing the in the pics where they are showing off their shields and swords? I have a little boy who is very into Mike the Knight right now and was thinking of doing a knight theme for his birthday.
ReplyDeleteSure!!! They're paper and I picked them up from Amazon. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JCMC12/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
