Three Things Right Now

Today I'm sharing three things about these three...

1) He is Pokemon OBSESSED!  Cards, apps, binders, books, etc., etc., etc.  I understand about 0.5% of what he's talking about but his enthusiasm is contagious.  I do have to make "Pokemon-free" time so we can have conversations that don't include "Mega-EX this" and "Charzard that" ;)

2) He's my night owl!  He reads well past his bedtime and while he's not the first one out of his bed I'm pretty sure he's the first one up.  We often have to call him down for breakfast at which point he informs us that he has already finished another book, rebuilt a LEGO set and organized his Pokemon cards pre-8:30 a.m.

3) He's growing up SO DANG FAST!  Making his own lunch, helping clean the pool, doing yard work (for real!), laughing at some of the jokes Dave and I think are going to go right over his head, putting things together for me, reading A TON and losing his patience with his "little" siblings :)  Then he went and lost his two front teeth and just sealed the deal.

1) He's been loving playing games!  He's finally old enough to understand the nuances of some of the games we love and is able to participate without help.  A game night with popcorn and ice cream is quickly becoming one of his favorite things.

2) He is the world's biggest fan of Beanie Boos :)  I have a feeling that this phase won't last long, but for now I'm loving that he has a whole collection and loves to play zoo and pet hospital with his sister.

3) We think a big growth spurt is coming because of all the eating and sleeping he's been doing.  Seriously - he is always hungry and is currently the one asking for seconds (and thirds!) of meals.  He can't get enough fruit and protein! He's the one most likely to fall asleep in the afternoon and is the only one who sleeps past 8 am.

1) She is STILL our early riser.  I was hoping that with the relaxed pace of summer would come a few late and lazy mornings but no... GG is still our little alarm clock.  Thankfully she gets herself some dry cereal and is content to play quietly until the rest of us are awake.

2) We joke often that we need to get her a planner because she's always asking, "What are we doing today?" or "Where are we going tomorrow?"  Which is usually followed up by, "Can we go to Playstreet later this day?" ;) hahaha

3) She can talk Pokemon and Star Wars with the best of them.  Make a pretty impressive "fart noise" on her arm and knows just when to use a potty reference to make her brothers laugh.  Then she turns around and convinces them to be the "beast" to her "Belle" or I come upstairs and find them all making pop bead necklaces together.  Best of both worlds!

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

  5. Same boat with the Pokémon, but both of my boys are on the train. I have no clue what a GX or an EX is! My boys will 'give' Nataleigh a Pokemon card every once in a while, and even though I'm sure it's not a good one, she thinks it's the coolest thing ever! You are totally right when you say 'best of both worlds.' It's just the sweetest!

  6. Love the three things post! Such sweet siblings to play. All I remember doing with my siblings was fighting. (Two brothers: 1 & 3 years older than me)

  7. I think my middle guy is on the verge of a growth spurt as well. He is eating all the things and has slept past 10:00 several times lately while his siblings are up with the sun. Plus Beanie Boos are a huge thing around here now as well.

  8. We have Pokémon crazy kids here, too. My son's teacher did an awesome lesson with animals in science and creating their own Pokémon-like cards. It was very engaging.

  9. I am with you on the Pokemon stuff. My son is obsessed too. I am lucky that my sister and brother-in-law know a lot about it (late 80s kids) and so they can engage in talking Pokemon with him to get his fill. He is really into Minecraft too but has never played. He will be getting a tablet with that game for his birthday though. I love learning all the fun things your kids are into.

  10. I love these posts! Thanks for sharing more about your adorable kiddos! And I love that Griffin can hang with her brothers, I have two younger brothers, so while I remember them being obsessed with Pokemon cards too, I never really cared to play because they were "little". :)

  12. Oh how fun!! GG reminds me so much of our Olivia. She's a super girly girl, but she can surely hang with her bro and her boy cousins! Every morning when she wakes up she always says, "Where are we going today?" It's SO cute!
