Weekend Recap - REEEEALLY Low Key Edition

Putting together this post I realized how little we actually did this weekend - which was just what we needed!  Friday night Mason went to a birthday party and it was just me with Griffin and Luke at home for a quiet evening.  Griffin played almost the whole night with her baby puppy and kitty - putting them in the pockets of her dress :)

Yes... my new years banner is still up ;)

I've been on a mission to organize and purge ALL THE THINGS and I got started bright and early Saturday morning.  Dave took Griffin to dance class and after lunch we headed to Luke's basketball game.  It was cold and rainy, but this girl brought a little bit of sunshine...

And she also brought her favorite baby...

Cheering on her big brother and feeding her baby #multitasker ;)

Sunday our little alarm clocks didn't wake up as early as normal and as a result we slept through church (it was a parenting win and fail all at the same time!) so we spent the rest of the day playing, cleaning and doing more organizing (see a theme here???).

Amidst the cleaning/organizing/purging this girl found her octopus costume :)

And despite the rain we HAD to get out for a bit so a walk it was!

LOVE this little motley crew ;)

We spent the rest of Sunday drawing...

... performing concerts...

... and watching the Cowboys.

Told y'all it was low key! :)  But sometimes those are the best ones, right?

We ALL have the day off today and are so flipping excited to have another day to hang out as a family.  We have big plans to rake and clean the pool after last night's storm :)  #soexciting

I hope your weekend was restful and low key (if that's how you like it. hahaha).

Happy Monday!

  1. A low key weekend sounds amazing. We had a very busy (yet packed with fun) weekend away for my son's bday. Now we are all exhausted!

    1. Right?!?! Somehow we only had one basketball game and nothing else really on the agenda! Hope you got to rest up today after your weekend! :)

  2. It's so nice that you live where you can go outside practically year round to play. In NY, we've had a very mild winter so far, but still can't play outside. Too cold, the ground is still frozen, etc. God bless Texas and its weather!

    1. Kiiiiiind of :) July - September (even October, really) it's too hot to do much other than swim outside. But YES for being able to get out in January!

  3. Low key weekends are the best! Mason's art board caught my eye in one of your holiday posts-is it the Crayola light designer one? Almost bought it but wasn't sure if it worked well.

  4. Our weekend was low key too which is just how I like it! When I look at our calendar for the rest of this month and next I get excited because there's plenty of open days in there :) I love that GG brings her baby everywhere with her!

  6. Love the low key weekends. I desperately need to purge and organize-I can't believe you did it with the littles in the house! I get stressed when they pull more junk out as I am trying to rid the house of that junk. hahahaha! Any great purging tips would be appreciated! I never know-with toys-when its time to say goodbye etc. Have a fun/productive day off!

    1. Oh, girl. I don't really ever get a chance to do it without them in the house so I just make it work. That's a fun idea for a post - I may have to gather my thoughts on that one and write it out :) Thanks for the idea!

  10. For some reason, my kids only want to sleep in on Sundays when we need to get up early for church. I don't understand! I always say it's the devil! Haha! Yesterday, I knew we needed a day of rest. G is adorable in that octopus costume! Love it! Enjoy your day off!

  11. Ohhh it warms my heart every time I see her with her baby! My daughter is black, and I know this might sound silly, but white children having toys/books/dolls etc of color does SO much to erase those invisible little lines that still get drawn on the playground.

  12. Hello! Where did you get your big tan rug in your living room under the black table? Very cute!

  13. I am beyond jealous of the weather you guys are having...it is rainy and drab here too but we still have to bundle up to play outside and most days it is out the question. It has been mild as far as winters go and the storm we were supposed to get missed us (WAHOO!!) so this mama got to run outside this weekend! Heaven!
