Show and Tell Tuesday - Lottery Edition

Happy Tuesday, Friends!  It's Show and Tell Tuesday and we're sharing about what we would do if we won the lottery.

Dave and I had so much fun talking about this prompt!  Here are the highlights of what we would do if we won the lottery....

We would both quit our jobs :)  While I LOOOOVE teaching and adore my students, given the circumstances I would "retire" and focus on volunteering in my own kids classes and probably tutor a few students (my favorite way to teach).  I've always wanted to have a cute boutique store downtown and would do that as well.  Dave would retire in a heartbeat and has said that he'd want to get back involved in drumline (probably teaching/writing cadences) and would want to volunteer in our kids classrooms more. He would also want to play golf more than once a year ;)

The main reason we would quit our jobs is that we would love to adopt.  We've talked about this for years and were seriously considering it before we got pregnant with Griffin (surprise!), but something that has always held us back is that we both work full time.  I think we'd be open to international or through the foster care system - but given the ability to not work we'd want to adopt at least 2 more kids.

We would buy a house somewhere COOL... as in temperature :) hahaha  We love our life here in McKinney and can't imagine living anywhere else, but we could imagine living somewhere like Nova Scotia for the summer.

Dave would want to upgrade his car :)  Dave used to be really into cars.  He bought several BMWs while we were in college and newly married and y'all... he was meticulous about them.  When we got pregnant with Luke he traded in the BMW, pocketed some cash and bought the "sensible" Honda Accord complete with a warranty (if you have a BMW you know how CRAZY the repairs can be!).  Dave is determined to get half a million miles on his Accord, but if we won the lottery he would gladly upgrade and save the Accord for the kids when they start driving :)

Really old picture alert!!!

We would want to write a lot of checks :)  How cool would it be to be able to see a need and write a check with bunches of zeroes on the spot. New building for school - write a check.  Friend in a pinch - write a check.  Cause close to our hearts - write a check.

The last thing that we talked about doing was a year of travel.  Dave and I aren't big travelers (we're more homebodies than anything else), but how fun would a whole year of traveling around the world be?!?!

So... what would you do if you won the lottery?  Link up and share or spill in the comments :)

  8. NS would love to have you, and we have some world class golf here! It would be so nice to be able to just write cheques for things and know that you're able to help people in that way!

  10. Me and my best friend discuss winning the lottery (which we never play). We'd take walks every day, talk about Jesus, do bible studies, volunteer somewhere, etc. Me personally - adopting two kids sounds perfect!

  11. Nova Scotia looks beautiful! I think all of your ideas are great, but my favorite is writing checks to worthy causes with lots of zeros!!

  13. I love it! Our answers are so similar. We'd quit our jobs, pay off everything for ourselves and our family. Plan some travel. My husband would buy a fast car. And I'd LOVE being able to surprise people (friends, strangers, organizations) with unexpected treats - cash, trips, little and big splurges. I think that would be the most fun part.

  14. I love that you guys are interested in adopting, but I think you should do it regardless of if you win the lottery! Staying home with a newly adopted child is nice, but there is nothing wrong with working right after you adopt!! There are over 100,000 children available for adoption through the US foster care system and it's FREE to adopt them. No need to win the lottery! :-)
