Seven

Dear Luke,
Today you turn seven. SEVEN!  I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around the number and the fact that the little boy pouring his own cereal in the morning is the same baby that was born with a part in his hair seven years ago :)

When I have a hard time believing that you're the same little baby, I see you smile and the resulting dimple makes me feel like it was yesterday that the nurses were commenting on your right cheek dimple and my left cheek dimple and how together we have a perfect set :)

You are silly and serious and smart. Soooooooooo smart!  Like.... you can subtract two digit numbers from four digit numbers in your head smart!

You're everything I imagined you would be, while being completely unexpected and surprising at the same time.

You ask THE BEST, most inquisitive and higher level thinking questions and don't let me off the hook with an answer of, "I don't know".

You're logical and you do best when you know the "why" behind the instructions.

You are a GREAT big brother, albeit a little bit bossy :)

You love Legos and Minecraft and playing outside.

You will spend HOURS out in your sandbox and I am continuously surprised and impressed by your Lego building abilities.

I have a love/hate relationship with your independence :)  I LOVE that you make your own breakfast and put your own clothes away, but I kind of HATE that you don't need me to walk you to your classroom in the morning (let's be real.... that gig lasted about 2 days).

You give genuine, thoughtful compliments and have the best manners.

You are DESPERATE to lose a tooth, but as of right now not a single one is even the teeniest bit loose :)

You hate wearing jeans, love to drink tomato juice and have a scary-good memory.

I've been trying my hardest to convince you to stop growing up (I even offered you a new Lego set!), but you're determined to keep getting bigger :)

I am so proud of you, Luke-Man.  Proud of the little man you're growing up to be and proud to be your mom!

Love you to Maine and back!!!
