More pages...

We took these of Luke today before heading to church:
I think that the shirt pretty much sums it up:
I took this through the crib rails... he's such a sweet boy after his nap!
Luke and Lilly... do you see the family resemblance?
Lookin' cute again:

Personality Plus

Luke's personality is coming on like nobody's business :) Here are a few that reflect a few of our favorite facets of his wonderful self...

Thank You, God for the Texas State Fair!

I never in a million years thought that I would utter that phrase, but this year I am definitely sending up a little thank you prayer for the Texas State Fair and more specifically for Private School Day at the Fair. I’m extra thankful for this day because it’s a day off of school and I could not be in more desperate need for a “catch-up day” then right now. As many of you know, not only do I teach 5 JH/SH math classes at MCA, but I’m also the Student Government Sponsor and next week is Homecoming…which pretty much just means a beating for me. :) I have fabulous students as part of Student Government, but so much of the responsibility falls onto the sponsor that it can become a little daunting – here’s what Homecoming Week entails for me (for those of you – specifically my Canadian relatives :) - who may be a little unclear:

- Monitoring 5 dress-up days (i.e. Spirit Day, international day, etc.)
- Selling Homecoming T-Shirts (I just placed the order for 350+ shirts!)
- Coordinating PowderPuff T-Shirts (I designed and coordinated 5 out of the 6 class shirts)
- Coordinating lunch games for 4 days of the week
- Running an Opening Ceremony (our theme this year is Olympic – we’re doing a kick off complete with a tiki torch)
- Coordinating Homecoming Court (nominations, elections, pictures, bios, tiaras, Junior Court, flowers, etc.)
- HUGE assembly on Friday
- Boys Volleyball tournament
- Girls Powderpuff tournament
- Pizza lunch on the football field
- Teacher competition (wheelchair races)
- Pep Rally
- Spirit Banners
- Spirit Skits
- Homecoming Court rehearsal
- Homecoming Game Half-times (yes, it’s plural – JH and SH)
- Homecoming Dance for SH next Saturday night
- Homecoming Dance for JH next Saturday night (complete with mini golf!)

Anyway, the week is A LOT of fun, but just getting ready for it has already worn me out! I’ll be sure to post some pics of the festivities next week.

Other than Homecoming, here are a few other things that we've been up to in the last week or so:
We went and watched Lilly's tumbling class:

Then we jumped on the trampoline - Luke absolutely loved it - as to be expected with his love for all things jumping related

I took a bunch of Luke's old white onesies and burp cloths and dyed them... Dave thinks that the onesies look like leotards, but I was pretty proud of myself for giving new life to some of the dingy things.
I took 9 students to Stonebridge to volunteer for a charity golf tournament...
This is what I was doing this weekend... the joys of teaching 5 math classes! :)

Luke is most definitley on a roll in the growing up department, and I have to say that I'm more than a little upset about the whole thing! I try not to get too sentimental about everything, but after seeing precious Kensington this week I really started thinking about how quickly he's growing and changing and it made me so sad! I can hardly remember him ever being that tiny!!! As sad as it is that he's no longer itty bitty, the silver lining is that he has developed the most joyful and sweet personality and we're getting to see more and more of it every day. He's starting to form definite opinions on certain things (i.e. he doesn't like to have his arms pulled through sleeves of any kind, he LOVES to have his face licked by Cadence, he loves to suck on wet wash cloths, he doesn't anything to do with a q-tip, he loves any and all singing - as evidenced by my lovely rendition of "The Wheels on the Bus" during dinner with the Genellas - and he does not like to be strapped in - to anything!). It's amazing how quickly he learns, too. We started letting him pull on the chain that hangs from our ceiling fans when we leave a room (to turn the lights off) and now he reaches for it anytime he's close. He still loves to look at books and is turning the pages on his own. He's almost sitting up by himself and this week he started rolling from his back to his belly! I love/hate how quickly he's growing, but am finding that I love every new age/stage more than the last. :)

Here's a video of him rolling around and then a few pictures of him swinging in his new swing.

More Jumpin

Here's another video of even more jumping. This is the first time I've had him in the jumper since he really discovered how to jump. :)

You are my sunshine...

We've been singing the "You are my sunshine" song to Luke since before he was born and it can bring a smile to his face almost no matter what kind of mood he is in :)
Here is yet another page dedicated solely to Luke's love of eating. He's up to about 4 jars of food a day (2 fruit, 2 vegetable) plus an insane amount of cereal.

a couple more...

This is Luke playing with a butter tub at my parents house. For Christmas he'll be receiving a bread bag, a roll of paper and a pair of earrings... all items that we've discovered to be highly entertaining.

There are a few snapshots from the past week

a few from this week

"He's a yumper"

As my Opa would say, Luke is most definitley a "yumper".
He has discovered how to jump and he now jumps at every opportunity.
Anytime he's on his feet he's jumping.
Cadence's arrival on the scene often brings on a fit of jumping for joy as does the appearance of a bottle or his favorite toy - the crab. :)
