Cape Cod Pt 2

On our first official morning in Cape Cod we started off our day slow with tea and muffins (amen) and then headed over to the Cape Cod Heritage Museum and Gardens. It was only like a 5 minute drive from the house as it backs up to the same pond the house we were staying in was on.

It was a bit drizzly, but warm and from the second we drove up we couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful everything was.  There were many "Texas could NEVERS" uttered amongst us ;)

Since it was a bit drizzly we started off checkout out their antique car collection which was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I'm not particularly into cars, but seeing this collection displayed in such a stunning way and seeing so many truly antique cars in one place was super cool.

First presidential car...

... WWII Jeep Willys...

Each car gets driven about 3 times a year.  We happened to be there when they were taking one out which was a TREAT! Later Luke recognized the man who had driven it inside the exhibit, they struck up a conversation, and next thing we knew Luke was getting a lesson in sleeve engines.

I CAN'T DEAL!

Here's a selfie I found on my big camera that accurately depicts how Griffin felt as her brothers and dad approached the 90 minute mark talking cars ;)

After the car exhibit we checked out the rest of the gardens...

... including an awesome children's area that my kids would have EATEN UP when they were younger.

We walked through the cranberry exhibit...

... several of the trails...

... and various other exhibits/gardens.

Did I mention that everything was beautiful!

We got back to the house, the kids cooked mac and cheese and smoked turkey sausage (their meal of choice)...

... and I just sat there in this STUNNING kitchen in what my family calls my "pilgrim dress" with double glasses and a gnarly sunburn and could have cried from happiness ;)

We had planned to hit the beach, but it was still drizzly so we opted to go to Cuffy's instead.  I had heard that it was THE place to go for souvenirs and sweatshirts and stuff but had no clue just how CRAZY it was going to be.

All of these buildings are Cuffy's... when I had googled it I assumed it was just one of the buildings and the others were other shops.  Nope - it was one giant store.

Like - can you even?!?!?!

The store had lots of sand sculptures as well which were so cool to see.

There were sweatshirts, t-shirts, jackets, pants, stickers, ornaments mugs, etc. plus a whole candy store, home decor shop, etc.  It was SO FUN!

HAD TO.

The Cape Cod sign behind her was made out of jelly beans!

I'm honestly still not over this ;) It was giving Main Street Disney without the crowds.

After Cuffy's we realized that none of our kids have ever played mini golf which was an absolute parenting fail on our part. We hit up Skull Island and it was so much fun!

If you're in the Dallas area there used to be Adventure Landing and Putt-Putt around here but that was YEARS ago and now there's more adult mini-golf places but nothing like this which was an absolute blast.

When we got back to the house the kids watched some TV...

... and then we had dinner out in the backyard.

This night was Costco meatloaf.  DELISH!

... and then ended the night at Twin Acres ice cream.

Despite our plans having to shift a bit because of the weather it was still a great day and a day I'd absolutely do again.

HAPPY Tuesday, friends!

  1. That car display looks amazing! By 90 minutes, I would probably be feeling like G too. Haha! The shopping area looks so cute, and it was definitely giving off Disney vibes to me too! Thanks for sharing all about your trip!
