I documented a day in the life a couple of weeks ago and then forgot to share! So here we are with what my day looked like two weeks ago ;)
It was an "up early" morning for me since I needed to wash my hair. THE WORST!!! You better believe that I slept in until the very last possible minute.
I didn't document much of my getting ready process because I needed every minute and didn't want to get distracted.
While I was getting ready, Mason and G got up, finished making their lunches, got dressed, put their stuff in the car, etc. They're pretty self-sufficient at this point and Dave was up to make sure they were getting things done ;)
Luke has a stdy hall first period and doesn't have to be at school until later but he graced me with his presence on this particular morning because he was going to make some eggs and needed a few extra minutes.
Front seat cutie! (Tuesday's are her turn - yes.... we still have designated days because some things never change).
I wasn't in a hurry to get to school on this day since we were doing some standardized testing and I didn't have any lessons to prep, student questions to answer, etc.
I grabbed my testing basket....
... took a pic of this cute creation on my board before erasing stuff...
... and my first period was ready to test.
We spread our testing out over a few mornings with breaks in between sections to let them chill a bit and on this particular day the weather was GORGEOUS so we headed outside for about 20 minutes. The kids ran around, had a snack, etc. while I got started on a bit of grading.
We did another section, then had another break....
... and then wrapped up our last section before 11 a.m.
After a quick bathroom break and water bottle refill...
... I stationed myself by the basketball hoop to monitor one last little break before classes started back around 11:15.
Back in class for one period before lunch...
... and then it was the best day EVER because our PTF arranged a teacher luncheon for us. THE BEST!
After lunch I taught a section of Pre-Algebra and then settled into my planning time by looking over my calendars for the rest of the school year, adjusting plans, grading, emails, etc.
I snuck away for about 15 mins to grab something to motivate me to finish out the day ;) I got back to campus and finished up a few more things...
... before this cutie showed up in my room after athletics.
It was just her and I because Mason left with the golf team after lunch for a tournament and we jetted out around 3:45.
The week before Griffin had gone to put on shorts to go to youth group and we quickly realized that she has grown an INSANE amount over the past year - none of her shorts even remotely fit so I placed a giant Zara order which landed on our porch along with a bunch of things from Walmart for some sponsored content I was working on for them.
I quickly got the steak marinating for dinner....
... and then set about tackling our dining room table which had turned into a dumping ground over the past couple of days. I LOVE getting to work on sponsored content but the sheer amount of "clutter" it can create totally stresses me out. I had been unboxing and unpacking things the day before, we had had a cell phone situation where Luke and I both got new phones and that mess was all over the table AND I had stuff out from wrapping birthday presents (Mason's bday was the next day).
It only took me about 10 minutes to tackle this room and move things to where they belonged and it felt SO MUCH BETTER!
I was working on the dining room and this girl got changed for dance and made herself a macaroni cup. I'm sorry - but sometimes a microwavable macaroni cup is exactly what you need after school. I said what I said. ;)
I had a few extra minutes before I had to leave to take G to dance so I ran the vacuum and I'm always equal parts excited and grossed out by just how much crud I can get up. Four animals inside our house is no joke so we vacuum pretty much daily and it's always shocking. It's a good things those furry friends are CUTE!
I had a last-minute Walmart order delivered...
... with a few essentials for birthday dinners the following two nights...
... and after I got those things put away it was time to head out to drop off G at dance.
When G controls the playlist ;)
Luke and I got home about the same time - except he came in with bags of ice so he could do an ice bath at home. hahaha. By the end of track seasons his shins are usually toast and despite ice bathing at school he usually does one daily at home as well.
I put in my airpods and got to work prepping a few things for the next night's birthday dinners while Frank destroyed some packing material he found in the office...
... I made a broccoli salad for the following night...
... Luke emptied the dishwasher...
... and then I made a Dr. Pepper cake for Mason's birthday and prepped some guacamole...
Dave got home with Mason and G around 8 pm and he grilled the steak and we had a quick but DELISH steak taco family dinner. We try to prioritize eating together and sometimes that means 8 pm tacos after dance, a golf tournament and multiple ice baths ;)
I settled in on the couch to work on some school and blog things....
... while Mason rehearsed his Bible project...
... and G worked on a quizlet (and Rosie napped - consider me officially jealous).
After the homework shuffle everyone showered and got in bed and I plugged my phone up and got into bed to read. I am making a point to put my phone away at night and not get sucked into IG scrolling, email responding, etc. and instead am trying to read every night but I typically fall asleep a few pages in - which I'm really not that mad about ;)
Thanks for following along for a busy fourth quarter day in our house!
HAPPY Tuesday, friends!
