Last Thursday I snapped pics of our day since it was kind of a "nothing" day - with minimal activities, extras, etc.
Homecoming is coming up next week and the middle school cheer girls have a few early-morning practices with varsity to get ready for the pep rally which means G was out the door by about 5:45 to make it to school at 6:00. GOD BLESS DAVE who took her ;)
I did get this picture after the fact - cuties!
5:50 I was up and semi-at'em ;) Lord help me and this hair.
I showered, dried my hair and had a cup of tea...
.... had a visit from this kid...
And somehow had time to "diamond dazzle" my rings. I never take my rings off BUT I was using comet or something last week that must have gotten under my band and irritated my finger so I've been taking them off at night to let that heal up so seeing it on the counter prompted me to clean it. My friend Lisa told me about this stick and it works like a charm!
Dressed, packed up, and out the door by 7 a.m (dress is linked HERE)
... and unloading at school by 7:15. Luke drives himself and leaves right around 7 as well, but he leaves later than us with XC so we both drive.
I know I'm there early when the big lights are still on ;)
I got my classroom up and running and G stopped by for a morning squeeze around 7:30...
Class starts at 7:40 and I kick things off with a section of 7th grade Honors Pre-Algebra...
... followed by a section of Math 7.
We have an "extended passing period" between 2nd and 3rd periods and I spent mine trying to get myself together with ALL THE PAPERS that I'd gotten behind on grading.
Third period was a section of 8th grade Pre-Algebra...
... followed by a section of 8th Grade Honors Algebra (who were taking a test)...
PRAISE HANDS for a hot minute to sort some papers and gather my thoughts.
While they worked on their test I had a VERY exciting time opening up a new package of flair pens...
... and scarfing down a few of my latest obsession ;)
After fourth period I did a quick run to the water cooler to mix up some caffeinated greens...
... and then I taught one more section of Math 7 before heating up some leftover spinach ravioli and grilled chicken.
I ate lunch in the cafeteria with friends (and 160+ middle schoolers) and then came back to class for one last section of 8th grade PreAlgebra...
... followed by two planning/prep periods where I pretty much either
1) sit alone and process/disassociate ;) or
2) Work my TAIL OFF to get as many things done as humanly possible
This is also my time where I return parent emails, have meetings with my mentee teacher, make copies, etc., etc., etc.
On this particular day I sorted out papers that needed to be graded, met with the teacher I mentor about report cards, ran a few copies and watched a tree get delivered and then planted in the courtyard ;) hahaha
I try my hardest to hang in my classroom because I'm a talker and if I venture to the workroom and end up seeing teacher friends there I may never leave.
I snuck in an apple amidst the chaos...
... and when 3:30 rolled around was treated to several VERY exciting stories from cheer practice...
... I scanned in a few things...
... placed a super quick walmart order for delivery...
... Mason got done with XC and we were out of school by right around 4:00.
WIPED!
First order of business is letting the dogs out...
... and then changing into comfies. ALWAYS!
My crocs and I grabbed the Walmart order off the porch...
... and I got a quick chocolate chip bundt cake going per my kids request ;)
Luke got home from XC around 5:00 and at this point Mason and G had both showered, started on homework and were having a quick snack. Mason makes a smoothie pretty much daily - G has been on a yogurt with granola kick.
The kids worked on some homework and had some screen time and I put in my airpods and listened to a podcast...
... while I got dinner prepped.
It took me about 45 minutes to get everything ready to go...
... and I rewarded myself with a cup of tea and some package-opening ;)
This was a fun mail day FOR SURE!
I got the cake ready to go, threw in a load of laundry and got dinner in the oven.
Dave got home around 6:00 and we sat down to eat around 6:30. Griffin zoning out is a MOOD!
After dinner we did our 20-minute "tidy"... dishwasher emptied and reloaded, laundry out of the dryer and put away, table wiped down, the little piles of stuff put away, etc. Lamps come on and it sets the tone for the "chill" portion of the evening ;)
G worked on a bit of homework, we watched some show she wanted to watch...
... and then I got into my pjs, washed my face and got bed with my computer and a piece of cake ;)
I did some quiet time, graded a few papers and, honestly, was ASLEEP by about 9:15 which is super early for me. I'm pretty sure I was asleep before all of the kids and Dave. Whoops but also AWESOME! ;)
And there you go - a quiet and fairly low key day in the life!
HAPPY Tuesday, friends!!!
Just my favorite kind of post!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see you serve from the baking pans too 😀. Why dirty serving dishes. Saves me so much time.
