Seven Questions

Okay - so here's what went down.  I bought this fiddle leaf five years ago and it was GORGEOUS!  Tall and full and wonderful.  It never branched though so it just kept getting taller and taller.  I moved it to a spot in our family room which it evidently didn't like because it dropped virtually every leaf over the course of about a year.

This is what was left minus a part that I chopped off the top back in August...

And this is it today!

It's sprouted 5 new branches and is THRIVING!  I really have no clue why cutting off the top produced new branches further down the stem but I'm not complaining.  The only thing I can think is that the branches are coming from previous "notching" attempts that never worked?

I repotted it in half cactus mix and half regular potting mix and have been using "plant food" from Happy Happy Houseplant and I moved it back to the front of our house which apparently gets much better light.

She does!  She asked some pretty leading questions this year but nothing direct.

FREE PEOPLE all the way!  The pieces that I reach for year after year and the ones that work season to season for me are all Free People.  I love that they're less "trendy" and more of a unique style so they work for years.  The fit can be hit or miss sometimes BUT their fabrics are unlike any other brand and they're worth the splurge.

Absolutely!!! He's still his spunky self and we're still working on building his "Rosie tolerance" ;)

I use  a flat iron to curl it and then follow it up with my FAVORITE texture spray... Bedroom Hair.  My hair stylist introduced me to it and I can't get enough - it's almost like a spray wax without being sticky - it's fantastic.  I will typically wash and style my hair on Sundays and Wednesdays and honestly have to do very little in between.

I've always just used whatever phone case I think is cute and then I add  a "love handle" to it.  I can't remember who told me about them but I much prefer them to a pop socked because I can "hold onto" my phone when my hands are full.

We definitely divide and conquer!  Dave and I started sharing calendars online (which I swore I would never do) because the shuffling of kids around after school was A LOT and it's been a lifesaver.  His job now isn't NEARLY as local as his previous one was and so I'm on my own for most of the after-school hustle and so being organized for scheduling and drop offs is a must.  We also carpool and trade rides with teammates and friends which is super helpful.  You can read about our calendaring process in a post  HERE.

As far as jobs around the house go Dave and I tackle those throughout the week with help from the kids.  Dave's days off are Monday and Friday and he's awesome about heading to the grocery store, cleaning, doing other various errands, etc. on those days since the weekends can sometimes be dominated by kid activities.

And let me end by saying SO MANY THINGS fall through the cracks and I feel overwhelmed and lots of things don't get done - that's life! My kids are happy and healthy, I'm doing my job well, we're having fun as a family... and if that means that I don't have time to bake cookies for the class party or we have 3 baskets of clean laundry in my family room or we eat corn dogs and chicken nuggets more than I'd like - SO BE IT!

Happy Thursday, friends!!!

  1. Your online calendar is goals. So is your ability to care for plants. I struggle with both. Agh!

  3. I am impressed with how well your plant is doing; I am okay with growing plants but as soon as they start dying it's usually game over as I have no idea to how revive them. Luckily my sister in law is like the plant whisperer so if one is looking real bad I just give it to her.
