Weekend Top 10

We started off our weekend with some "low and slow mornings" which is just how we like them :)   Breakfast and coloring outside - yes, please.

Saturday morning Dave and the kids went to the carwash and I stayed home to fold laundry and listen to a podcast.  VACATION!!!

We watched the SpaceX launch and OH MY WORD how cool was that?!?!  Such a monumental moment and so incredible to watch!

We chilled...

... and puzzled...

... and some of had to ice our ankles after wiping out in the laundry room.  Seriously y'all.  I thought I broke my foot clean off.  #dramatic

Those of us who weren't icing our ankles played a late night game of cul-de-sac kickball with our neighbors...

... and kiwi crates provided the kids with some early morning entertainment.  I'm always blown away by the projects they make every month!

We hung out with friends last night and had some pretty awesome swim time, s'mores and the most gorgeous sunset EVER.

And last, but not least - an era officially ended as we bid adieu to Dave's Accord :)  So let me tell y'all a quick story...  Dave always loved cars... he drove some sort of souped up Camaro in high school and his first year of college (he actually used to take it with friends to drag races in Dallas - bet you didn't expect that! hahaha) and in college and our early years of marriage he had a couple of different BMWs that he LOVED and were absolutely immaculate AT ALL TIMES.  When Luke came along Dave, on his own accord, sold his beautiful BMW (it was a really pretty 3 series) and traded it in for his Honda.  It was way more reliable, we pocketed some cash out of the deal AND you could get a car seat in and out of it a lot easier :)  Here we are 12 years later and he's passing along the car to someone who needs it and he's upgrading to a car without a cigarette lighter :) hahaha  I know it's just a car - but it really is a perfect picture about how Dave has ALWAYS put our family above his own wants and desires and just how little "stuff" means to Dave.  He's a keeper!

Happy Monday and Happy JUNE, friends!!!

  1. That's a sweet story about Dave. I'd love to know what he gets! I was always an Accord girl until we moved overseas and could no longer get one. We have a Toyota Prius Plus (seats 7) now and I LOVE it. I never thought I could beat my old Accords!

I didn't realize you did Kiwi crates. I hope we can try them one day! Which reminds me- if you haven't seen the new Mark Rober video about creating a bird feeder that is squirrel-proof, you have to! It's super cute (and sponsored by Kiwi Crate).

    1. He was REALLY hoping he could drive it until Luke was ready for it :) It's actually still a really reliable car but my dad got a new truck and so Dave bought my dad's car... a bit more room for the kids and a few bells and whistles... like windows that roll down. hahahaha

  4. “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends-“ Martin Luther King Jr. I’m very ashamed of your silence during all that’s going on in our world. It’s far louder and says more about you and your heart.

    1. I’m so sorry that you feel that way. I’m devastated by what’s been going on but I haven’t been silent. I’ve shared multiple messages on my IG stories and had some great conversations with people this weekend as a result. I’ve been working with a friend and author on a guest blog post that will publish this week and I hope you’ll be back to read it.

    2. Anonymous. You didn’t include your name! Don’t shame Andrea or point fingers when there is already enough hate in the world.

  5. Love that Dave story! My dh loves cars and sold his fancy sports car for a car that could hold a car seat (a Saturn! HAHA!) when we were pregnant with our first. Hooray for men who love their families well and sacrifice for them. All the love and respect for these good guys!

  14. Will you kindly share the meaning "a car without a cigarette lighter"? Our vehicles are rather old; is it a newer thing to not have a cigarette lighter as a standard option included? Just wondering. Thanks.
