Our Favorite Burgers

Today I'm sharing our recipe for burger patties - random, I know.  They're simple, full of flavor and WAY BETTER than a grocery store patty.  I've been making them this way for years and always get requests for the recipe and/or to bring them when we hang out and grill with friends.

Here's what you'll need to make 16-18 burger patties
(you can easily cut this recipe in half but we're often making them for a crowd OR I'll make a bunch of patties and then freeze them (more on that in a minute) but feel free to adjust!)

- 6 lbs 80/20 ground beef
(it HAS to be 80/20.  Now is not the time for 96/4 lean beef... trust me)
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 4 eggs

Here's what you'll do...

1) Throw everything in a BIG bowl and mix it together really well.  I use my hands and essentially just get in there and mix and knead until everything is well combined.

2) Portion out your meat mixture, roll into balls and then pat into patties

3) Grill, the end.

NOTES:

- I use a 3/4 cup measuring cup (roughly) and my patties are about 1/3 lb each.

- Make sure when you roll them out into balls that you're almost treating them like pizza dough to get all the meat mixture really combined, thus preventing it from falling apart on your grill

- don't be afraid to make the patties larger than what you think they should be... they'll shrink up a bit when you grill them and fit your bun perfectly

- I will typically prepare these earlier on in the day.  I stack them on a cookie sheet with wax paper between the layers, wrap the whole thing in saran wrap and then leave it in the refrigerator.

- If you're not going to use all the patties, you can put them in a freezer bag with wax paper in between (make sure they're on a cookie sheet or something flat as they freeze so they maintain their shape) and then just pull them out and put them in your fridge on the morning of the day you want to grill.

Simple and SO YUMMY and perfect for summer grilling!

  3. I may have to try these, thanks for sharing! The way I make ours is with an egga and a couple of packets of Lipton's onion soup mix. The flavor that gives them is amazing! It's also really good to do that, and turn the patties into hamburger steak. I'll add some brown gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans to the rest of it to make it a complete meal. My sons devour it every time!
