Saturday morning was an exciting one at our house - our elf, Buddy, came back from the North Pole and he brought breakfast!!!
Buddy REALLY likes to decorate and he has the BEST time putting this together super last at night.
Buddy should really consider bringing lunch next year because the light is always AWFUL at the hour my kids are ready for breakfast :) hahaha
The polka dot dishes were found at Hobby Lobby about 4 years ago - and I haven't seen them there since. The place mats were pieces of red sparkly scrapbook paper.
The white tray I found at Home Goods and the tiered tray you can find HERE.
And THIS is why Buddy does what he does ;)
SQUEAL!!! The matching jammies are something I started doing last year and I think it's now an essential part of the breakfast :)
You can find their jammies HERE. They're on sale for $20 right now and Hanna Andersson donates 15% of every pair to Raising a Reader. Luke is wearing an 8, Mason is in a 5 and GG is in a 3. I buy up a size because they're SO SOFT and I want them to be able to wear them all year long.
The notes I printed out on white cardstock, cut them out and backed them on construction paper and then added the sparkly letters and elf stickers (I picked these up at Hobby Lobby this year). The holly sparkles are from WalMart.
This year was extra special because Luke was able to read the notes to us!
Another special addition to the breakfast this year were the frames we got from Feel Good Frames. They matched the color scheme perfectly and so I saved them until this morning to debut them to the kids. They loved seeing their pictures in the ornaments and they were a fun surprise.
The highlight of the morning is always the powdered sugar donuts. This is the only time of the year we get these and I'm fairly certain my kids think that they are baked at the North Pole and only sent with elves ;) hahaha
Monkey see, Monkey do.
Buddy always brings the kids an ornament and then some other small treat. One year it was Christmas socks, another year it was a Christmas movie and this year it was pez. :)
Griffin got a ballet slippers ornament (to remember this was the year she started ballet)...
Mason got an army ornament (to remember his Halloween costume)...
... and Luke got a karate uniform (to signify that this was the year he started Kicks for Christ!)
GG's first time to try out a Pez dispenser ;) hahaha
After breakfast was done and presents were opened, we headed to the Christmas tree to hang up their ornaments.
It is such a fun way to kick off the season and is a tradition that I hope my kids look back on fondly.
I don't think a North Pole Breakfast needs to be anything super extravagant... special touches (like fun plates, special food, some twinkle lights and a little gift) make it exciting and special for the kids.
If you're looking for a few special touches for your a breakfast of your own, here are some ideas:
I hope you enjoyed the peek into our North Pole Breakfast! And Happy December 1st!

ReplyDeleteWOW! This looks like the most magical breakfast ever! Our elf came today and brought skittles. HAHA. You're super mom! :)
ReplyDeleteOur elf came back this past weekend also! Olivia thinks that elf is the greatest thing since sliced bread ! Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteAlthough my kiddos are older, you have given me some great ideas for Christmas Eve. I just love how you decorate. Nothing is super expensive but it is all so festive. Thank you for being you. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe jammies are now $28.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I can't wait to do something like this with my kids!!
ReplyDeleteWe do a North Pole breakfast too! My kids love it! This year I slacked and didn't go all out like I have in the past but our elf still brought little presents and a special nutcracker....they loved it all the same! Our elf is one of my favorite traditions by far!!
ReplyDeleteI need to run out and get a buddy and copy you! You do such a great job.
ReplyDeleteYou do such a fantastic job! What joy you bring to your kids!
ReplyDeleteI wondered where you purchased the wooden 3 tier serving tray? I was looking for something like that.

ReplyDeleteAwesome North Pole Breakfast! So great you make it so special for your kids. Love the matching jammies :-)
ReplyDeleteAndrea it is all just so adorable but my favorite thing is your friends want to send their kids to your house next year! That is hilarious! And don't worry dear, these will be precious memories for them as they grow and if you ever deviate from the norm, they will act like you've killed Christmas! : )
ReplyDeleteThis is always my favorite post of the year. So sweet! Funny thing about the powered sugar donuts... this is the only time we get them as well. We ran out yesterday morning and I overheard my daughter asking our elf to bring her some more. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are the bomb dot com!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE your North Pole breakfast!!! And I LOVE that you make (I mean Buddy makes) this season so special for your kids! You can truly see the excitement and joy in their faces! I love it.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wait to see what Buddy was going to do this year! I love this so much! We missed out on the Elf, it came along after my kiddos were too old. Thanks for sharing, Andrea. Happy Tuesday!!
ReplyDeleteSo, so cute! You are a wonderful mom!
ReplyDeleteYou are super mom! Love everything about this!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of you! How do you find the time and energy to do everything you do? I don't even work and I can't seem to get it together :)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Getting a new ornament every year to commemorate a special moment is such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLove this so much!! This is the first year that we're doing Elf on the Shelf, but we're keeping it pretty low-key because our kiddos are still pretty young. Next year I really want to go all out like this!
ReplyDeleteI live in Virginia. So fun seeing your Homestead ornament. Wish the Elf had been around when my kids were younger.
ReplyDeleteLove all of this. So very festive and great memories for your kids! Elf wasn't around when my daughters were growing up so a couple years ago I did it for my high school senior and had a blast. Every day her friends would ask for pics of what shenanigans "Clarice" got into. My daughter even joined in and I found Clarice in some hilarious situations some mornings. A co-worker at the time also had high school kids and she did it as well. We had so much fun planning and sharing ideas.
ReplyDeleteI almost think it's more fun when the kids "know" ... it really ups the game. ;)
DeleteI love this post every year!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job at making every detail special :)
Your breakfast is adorable! I am hoping to create something similar for my girls this coming Friday morning:) Can you tell me where you candle is from? I am on the hunt for a good smelling Christmas one and that looks like one of the Anthro ones.
ReplyDeleteSo cute, thanks for the card info ; )
ReplyDeleteLove this!!! So festive and fun
ReplyDeleteThis is the third year I've done a elf breakfast (that's what we call it) and it is one of my kids' favorite traditions as well. Twinkle brought Christmas shirts and we are Santa pancakes. Last year he brought plates so now we just use those every year.
ReplyDeleteYou are the cutest! I love seeing the fun memories you make for your family and your students too!!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfection! I wish those pj's came in adult sizes :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet sweet breakfast & memory!
ReplyDeleteYou are the master at things like this! It was all so beautiful and I have no doubt your kids will have amazing memories from this tradition. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love this post every single year! I am so excited to do this next year for the first time! My oldest will be two and I know she will get a kick out of it! Such a fun tradition!
ReplyDeleteYou. Are. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteSoooo fun!!! Our elf did come for dinner time. But lunch lighting would have been way better!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing! That table and breakfast looks amazing! I wish Buddy the elf would come to my house! :)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a Christmas ornament to remember special moments - it makes the tree so much more personal! It's always fun pulling out the ornaments every year and thinking about the memories each one holds. There are ornaments on our tree that I made in kindergarten!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet idea! I hope when my husband and I have little ones that we can do something similar!
