Friday Favorites

Several of y'all have asked about where we stayed in Vail as well as how Griffin slept so I'm going to answer those questions quick before I dive into my FAVORITES for the week.

We didn't want to stay in a hotel because we wanted to be able to eat breakfast in our pajamas at "home" :)  and wanted a comfortable place to crash in the evenings with a place for the kids to run around outside.  This townhouse was part of a racquet club which also fave us access to swimming, tennis, etc.

We hung out a lot out here - movies, etc. at night.

And the kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast here every morning (eggs and such) and not worry about being out the door and to a restaurant super early.

The master bedroom, bathroom and loft area were upstairs and the views were GORGEOUS! The creek ran directly behind the house.

In the walkout basement level there was a bunk room with two sets of bunk beds and it's own bathroom...

.... and a second bedroom with it's own bathroom.

Having the kids all in the basement and Dave and I four sets of stairs above them kind of freaked me out (I know, I know... but we didn't have a monitor with us) so we actually stayed in this second downstairs bedroom and the kids slept in the bunks.  Griffin went to bed before the boys, but they would be extra quiet when we put them in later and we never had an issue.  Later in the week the boys decided they wanted to sleep in the big bed upstairs so that's where they slept.  We would put Griffin in the bottom bunk with her pillow and blanket and such and do our normal "you are my sunshine" and bedtime prayers routine, turn out the light and leave and she never once cried or got out of the bed.  Our routine at home is really short and sweet (I learned that lesson with Luke when we had to read 5 books, sing 3 songs, rock for 7 minutes and then have back rubbing. hahaha) and it worked well on vacation as well.

If you want more details for where we stayed you can find all the info HERE.

Up first today are Jack Bauer and Griffin.  They are most definitely each others FAVORITE right now and they were so glad to be reunited after a week apart.

I think he may just like to lick crumbs off her face :)

One of my FAVORITE Fall memories from growing up is apple picking as a family and then my mom making apple sauce.  Yesterday I picked up three pounds of apples (Gala and Jazz), sliced them up and threw them in the crockpot with 1/2 cup of water.

I cooked them on low for about 6 hours until they were super mushy...

... and then blended them all up in my blender.

It wasn't quite as magical as picking the apples and having my mom make it for me, but it was still delicious.  Next time I make it I'll add in some cinnamon, but it's great just as it is.  If your kids love applesauce you should try this out... it's definitely not like store bought, but it's yum!

Before we left for Vail I ordered this top and I finally had a chance to slip it on yesterday and  I'm in LOVE!  I definitely think it will be a FAVORITE this Fall/Winter.

It's slouchy, but not sloppy and lightweight, but warm.  It's awesome.

I tried it on with these jeans and I have a feeling this ensemble will be on repeat come October.

Another item on repeat?  The blardigan.  I've worn it every single day since it arrived.  It's heavenly.

Next up, these two cuties in their monogrammed swimsuits are some of my very FAVORITE FAVORITES ;)

I mean, could they be any more precious?!?!?!

I've mentioned before that I watch A LOT of Netflix while I blog, design, lesson plan, etc.  Well, I dove headfirst into Pretty Little Liars and I'm TOTALLY hooked.  It's my new FAVORITE show for sure.  And yes, apparently I'm 14. I don't even care it's so good ;)

Next, I've had SO much fun uploading the pictures from Luke's GoPro.  This video from our time in Breckenridge CRACKS ME UP!!! "So, I hear you're french!"  #idie

Last, mark your calendars!  Fall Matilda Jane is coming next weekend and it's shaping up to be my FAVORITE line EVER!

The line will go live on Sunday, August 2nd and you'll be able to send wishlists in to me and Kat that day.  If you're local, I'd LOVE to see you at my in-person trunk show that afternoon! Join me and Kat at Stonebridge Country Club from 3:00 - 6:00 to check out the clothes in person.  Shoot me an email at dave-and-andrea@hotmail.com if you plan on coming and bring a friend (or two!)

  3. Can you tell us more about the gopro? What model is it? Is it waterproof? My family is going to Hawaii in a couple of months and I'm looking for a good waterproof camera.

Also, I loved your ideas from yesterday, especially the wreath. You are incredibly crafty. I don't know if you've thought about opening an etsy shop?

  15. $500.00 a night for a town house? Thats insane.

    1. It's actually under $300... not sure where you're getting your info considering I posted the link to the listing. I'm sure it's more during ski season, but you also have to consider that there are beds for 8 as well. It's pretty not insane in reality :)

    2. Lol! I just returned from Washington dc and stayed in a not super fancy hotel that was $400/night for a small room! So $300/night for a town home sounds like a steal to me :)

    3. Whoa, whoa, whoa Anonymous.
You didn't even bother to check the varying seasonal rates and then come here to dump a loaded comment like that? Really, I would question why would you even feel the need to do that.
Most people I know would consider less than $300 for a top notch, fully equipped townhouse (in Vail no less) to be a very reasonable price and probably far more economical and practical than any hotel in the area considering the flexibility and amenities it offers for a family with young children. Andrea, I am loving all your photos, Vail was such a great choice. So happy that you and your family enjoyed your vacation road trip and your kids look like they had a great time too! 16. What a cool rental! We LOVE VRBO!! Hotels are so impractical with littles!! Great idea to go to Vail in the off season to get the lowest rate!! We do that with beach rentals!! I know it was nice to get away for a bit! Have a great weekend!!

  20. Be prepared to have a love/hate relationship with Pretty Little Liars! It's so good but it's so crazy that you can never figure out the mystery and it'll drive you nuts! And it's not just for teens either, both my mom and dad watch it at home by themselves because it's just that good. I'm 24 and ive been hooked since day 1! :)
