Weekend Top 10

Friday this kid and I were up bright and early to pick up some brain food (aka lemon pound cake) and head to the Area level Math Olympics competition.  He placed third in District and was nervous and excited for the testing and while he didn't place in the top 4 this time we're SO SO PROUD of him!  This is such a fun day for me as I get to watch my qualifying students compete AND now my own kid!

There's a lot of waiting involved in Math Olympics (other categories to test, grading, etc.) and I loved that he and a friend passed the time playing  this game.

Mason went to a friends birthday party and the mom who was hosting sent me this picture - LOVE HIM!

Friday night we rallied after a busy day and headed to school for the 8th grade play (Willy Wonka).  My kids LOVED it and it was so fun seeing my students outside of class in their element.

Saturday morning was "low and slow" and we savored the time at home as well as the sunshine.  It's been dull and dreary for days and it was so nice to have sun pouring in!

We spent pretty much all morning cleaning, putting away laundry, etc.  Having "big kids" definitely has it's perks including baseboard cleaning and window washing :)

We ran to Costco and then had to go to school so I could get a couple of things done in my classroom after being out on Friday so we decided to make the best of it and threw scooters and a kite in the car.

It was windy but GORGEOUS and we had a great time.

Saturday night Dave and the boys headed to Monster Jam and had SO MUCH FUN.  I'm not sure how 2.5 hours of watching monster trucks could be fun but they all came home buzzing about it and they all want to go again the next time it comes to town.

Sunday morning we went to church and then when we got home they went straight to playing Monster Jam and shopkins :)

A good portion of my afternoon looked like this...

... trying to get our personal schedule and my classes prepped and organized for the week.

After running a few more errands  Sunday afternoon we headed back up to school to meet some friends and let the kids scooter the center circle.  They ran around for over two hours and we got our fair share of fresh air and Vitamin D to end the weekend.

Happy Monday, friends!

  1. Congratulations to Luke! The children are so good to help you clean house, but you deserve some help since you work so hard ALL the time, it seems like to me. Glad you all had sunny skies so you could get outside for some fun & fresh air. By the way, Griffin's hair is looking so long & pretty! Happy Monday!

  8. Woo hoo! Way to go Luke! Youshould keep an eye out in your area- last year there was a Shopkins Tour that came to Southern Indiana, and we gifted my niece tickets for Christmas. She LOVED it! My husband and I knew nothing about Shopkins, but we thought it was cute, and our niece hasn't stopped talking about it. :)
