Weekend Top 10

Thank GOODNESS for a three-day weekend, right???  I had big plans to conquer ALL THE THINGS on my to-do-list, get ahead in my blogging and pretty much have the most productive weekend of all time and then the sinus infection from HELL hit and pretty much knocked me flat out for the past 72 hours.  Thankfully I THINK I'm on the upswing of things if I can just get some good sleep over the next few days.  Despite feeling under the weather and accomplishing about zero of the things I wanted to, this weekend still proved to be a good one.

Saturday morning we woke up to the teeniest tiniest dusting of snow ever.  We didn't really have any stick to our grass, but the roof was covered and the kids all checking out the snow before we headed out had me reminiscing about mason seeing snow when he was one.

We didn't have too much time to play outside because Griffin was participating in a winter cheer clinic at school.  A few hours with the JV and Varsity cheer squads - she was in HEAVEN!

The little girls will get to cheer with the middle and high school girls at a pep rally and basketball game this Friday - she couldn't be more excited!

After the parent exhibition for cheer we ran a few errands...

(hat jacketshoes  / leggings / sweater is old)

... and then we hunkered down for the afternoon.  After some particularly quiet time upstairs these two came down to show me this...

With pretty much no appetite all weekend, a bright spot for me came Saturday afternoon when I had a moment to myself and decided to share it with this Chick-Fil-A chocolate chip cookie :)

Sunday afternoon Griffin and I went to Play Street Museum to meet Sarah Jane and Kenneth Wright - authors and illustrator of the Lola Dutch books.

We've had the original Lola Dutch book in our collection for a while and we were so excited to get to meet them and have a story time with the brand new Lola Dutch When I Grow Up book!

The new book is PRECIOUS and even cuter than the first (which I didn't think was even possible!) and I love all of the nods to art and culture "hidden" within the illustrations.

They encouraged the girls to come dressed as Lola and there were so many sweet pink tutus in attendance.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a trip to Play Street without some play...

And then after getting home she played Lola Dutch for at least another 45 minutes.  The book jackets come with these little paper play sets - they're precious.

You can grab either of the Lola Dutch books or the doll (which I didn't know existed but now have to order for Valentine's Day!) using the links below...

We all had dental cleanings (this was a good idea in theory 6 months ago... but 8 am on a school holiday came EARLY).  Thank GOODNESS that's checked off of our list!

Monday afternoon Luke had a friend over and between riding bikes, building a Lego zipline and playing Ninetndo switch they did a whole lot of this...

And Monday night looked like this...

... if you love the original Ticket to Ride you need to check out the European version - it has a few additional twists that make it so much fun!

Happy Tuesday, friends!!!  I'm actually switching hats today and am chaperoning a kindergarten field trip to the Children's Theater!  I'm not sure who's more excited :)
