Friday Favorites

It's FRIDAY which is my FAVORITE because in less than 24 hours Homecoming Week will be behind me!  Don't get me wrong - it's a total blast and I love every second of it... BUT it's a TON of work and is mentally and physically exhausting.  I thought that once my kids were bigger it would be easier to manage everything but NO... now my kids are involved in the fun and it's even more to coordinate :) hahaha

As always,  Erika,  Narci and I are sharing our Friday FAVORITES and we'd love for you to link up and join us .

Snapped this one of my sweet girl before school on Monday (I think) - those little braids are my FAVORITE.

I saw this on facebook earlier this week and it CRACKED ME UP!!!

It reminded me of this picture of my mom and my Oma :)

LOTS of y'all have been asking me about Griffin's leotards and what my FAVORITE place to purchase leos are.

This leo is the same cross back one she had last year for ballet, but I put  these shorts from Target over it...

... same thing with  this strappy back one.

Griffin often wakes up early (usually around 5 am) and comes down to our bed.  At first we were putting her back upstairs in her own bed but one morning she was in tears and she goes, "I just need to be by you" so we've been letting her stay and it's just about the sweetest thing ever.  (And no... I wouldn't let her stay in our bed all night... but I do think that sometimes kids just "need you" and that's ok!)

I have  a new FAVORITE cup... I make kids do EVERYTHING in pencil in my class and so this was only fitting :)

Mum pickup was yesterday - have you ever seen so much girly goodness?  The boas are my FAVORITE :)

One of my FAVORITE Christmas traditions is giving the kids an ornament signifying something fun or special that they did that year.  For example - last year Luke got a kayak because he learned to kayak at my parents lakehouse... stuff like that.  Well, this year I'm totally on my A-game and I already have Griffin and Mason's ornaments.

... and I love how it turned out.  I got to pick the uniform color and hair color and she's going to love it!  And y'all... it was only $9.50!  I felt like that was a bargain for something hand painted.

Mason has  this really cool laser cut wood jersey with his name and number on it and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's on sale for under $15 and I think it would make such a cute end-of-the-season coaches gift as well.

Last night was the school-wide tailgate party and Griffin's Lil' Stangs cheer squad performed with the middle school cheerleaders...

Living her very best life!!!

My favorite part of this whole little program are the friendships they make with the older girls.  It's seriously so sweet!

Cheered her little heart out and ended in a split (kind of) :)

I'm responsible for the middle school homecoming court portion of the program and this year our 8th grade prince was one of our international students.  It was SUCH A sweet moment.  His buddies carried him off the field cheering and I MAY have teared up.

The night got called early because of a storm that rolled in - but it's such a fun event.  They recognize all the Fall sports team, middle school court, the classes present their class banners, there are little dances/skits by different groups - it's just super fun.

We had burgers, hung out and tried to pretend we weren't melting from the heat and humidity :)

I've taught with Sharon for YEARS and she has three boys herself (they're all 17 and up) and she was talking to her middle son Sam and she asked Luke to burp into the phone to show Sam his skills.  #boymomsunite

The best wagon is a wagon full of flowers...

Sweaty.  Mess.

The storm rolling in right as we were leaving...

Such a bummer that it had to end early but still one of my FAVORITE nights.

Happy Friday, friends!!!

  9. My baby used to climb in our bed too....and if I tried to send her back to her bed she’d say “but I’m all alone and you get to have Dadddyyyy” ahhh. Little heart string puller. I’m a softy. And now she’s started college on Long Island and I’m in Seattle. And she is soooo homesick 😢

    1. They're these GIANT flower mums with all kinds of ribbons and bells and boas attached :) The ribbons, trinkets, etc. usually represent your date, what activities you're involved in, etc. and kids wear them during homecoming week.

  15. Every year when I see the pics of the Mums I am just blown away because we don't do anything like that in California where I live! I think they are so neat!

  16. We do the same things with ornaments! I am not sure what I am going to do for my boys this year though... as they get older and older it's getting harder and harder to commemorate "new" things in their lives. Those ornaments are adorable!

  17. As a teacher, I would love to teach at your school!!! :)

  18. Aww I love the idea of the special ornaments! My husband and I every time we travel try to pick up an ornament to remember our travels. That's adorable that the little cheerleaders get to be with the big cheerleaders!! I miss cheerleading so much!! =)

I hope you have a great weekend!
