Patriotic Books

I ordered a few patriotic books to add to our collection and thought I'd show you the books we love to read this time of the year.

First up is a new addition - Blue Sky White Stars.

The illustrations are out of this world beautiful and while there aren't many words the words that are used paired with the incredible illustrations are powerful.

Gorgeous, right???

Next up is this  George Washington Little Golden Book.  I mean - can you go wrong with a little golden book??? I don't think so :)

It's informative and the illustrations are darling.

I have all of my original Berenstain Bears books from when I was a kid and while they can be a pain to read at bedtime (I can't be the only one, right?!?!) they're some of my absolute favorites.

God Bless Our Country was a great read that talked about the meaning behind Independence Day adn why/how we celebrate.

And I always appreciate when a book provides some thinking questions to ask the kids after we've read.

The Story of the Star Spangled Banner and  The Story of America's Birthday are sweet little board books that have good information but are also age-appropriate for Griffin.

Another great Golden Book is  this one about Abraham Lincoln...

... and if you've ever read The Night Before Kindergarten you'll enjoy  The Night Before the Fourth of July (this one is Griffin's favorite!)

O, Say Can You See?  is FULL of awesome information.  This is Luke's favorite one because of all the detail and I love how it gives the background and detail of the patriotic symbols.

Last, but not least is The 50 States.  This book is LARGE, the illustrations are so pretty and it's packed with great information about all 50 states.

I hope you found some books to order for your personal library or add to your library list!

Happy Tuesday, friends!!!

  6. These are great recommendations, I will need to look for these at Barnes and Noble this week.
We also really like Mem Fox, she has great global citizenship themes in her books "Whoever you are" and "I am Australian Too" - great for enquiring little minds!
