Valentine's Day 2018

Valentine's Day is always one of my favorite days of the year because it's a day to be intentional about showing and telling each other how much we love each other and I'm thinking we might have to implement a quarterly (or even monthly!) love day in our house :)

Tuesday night Dave and I set out a gift for each of the kids to open on Wednesday morning which included one of those weird squishies they are all obsessed with ;)

Mason got a Lego set, drawing book and beanie boo (of course!)...

... Griffin got some shopkins (a new thing for her) and a Greatest showman costume (more on that in a bit!)...

... and Luke got a giant geode (how Luke is that?!?!) and some rainbow loom supplies.

They opened gifts, changed into their uniforms and then we packed up their class Valentine's.

Yes... that's a squishy in there...

I kept my festive look subtle with some heart tights.  But it was so funny because the kids in Luke's class honestly thought I sharpied them onto my legs.   ;)

I had a special delivery in my classroom...

... got to do the craft in Luke's party (it was a hit!)...

... and had a chance to stick my head in the door of Mason's party long enough to get a sugar rush :)

Luke had baseball practice later in the evening and the plan was to hang out at school until he was done, but they all wanted to come home and just PLAY for a bit before practice to we did just that...

Dave and I surprised them with some balloons and special desserts and that was really the extent of our celebration.  Dave had work, Luke had practice and we ate mac and cheese and turkey dogs on the couch while watching Wonder :)

It was the perfect day filled with lots of LOVE.  And although it didn't go to plan... there wasn't a themed breakfast,  a heart garland to be found (gasp!) and my original dinner plans were a wash... the day was still so special and so full of love.

I'd love to know how y'all celebrated Valentine's Day and I hope you have a fantastic Monday!

  4. We have church on Wednesdays (I took chocolate for the group of ladies I lead) so my hubby and I went to dinner on Tuesday. My kids are in college so I move a little money into their bank accounts and text them a Valentine message letting them know. LOL! Easy but they LOVE it!

  6. I just love how festive you are! A woman after my own heart, for sure! :)

My husband and I got married on Valentine's Day, so it's kind of a big deal to us! This year he made me a delicious dinner and we ended up winning tickets to see Brett Kissel's Valentine's Day concert here, in Ottawa. It was a great anniversary! <3
