Show and Tell Tuesday - Christmas Decor

The day is finally here!  I seriously look forward to this day all year long!  I adore Christmas decor and love seeing how other people do theirs.  There is nothing happier than a house decorated for Christmas!

We moved our tree location this year and I couldn't love it more...

I shifted the chairs around, removed an ottoman and centered it on the front window (it's not centered in the room... but is centered with the front of our house if that makes sense).

I love that there's space for presents, room to sit and enjoy the tree and you can see it from pretty much our entire downstairs (and the street - which we love!)

On the side table I have  this candle, a faux topiary and a one piece nativity I received as a gift years ago (I LOVE one piece nativities!)

On the shelf I didn't do much... I just added a couple of nativities and that was pretty much it.

I put a few glass ornaments into the glass cake stand with a set of  these lights (they're battery operated and have a remote!) and they look so pretty at night.

This nativity was a wedding gift and is my most favorite item to get out at Christmas.

Our tree doesn't have a theme or a color scheme.  It's full of ornaments that we've exchanged over the years, ones we've picked up while on trips and ones that the kids have made (the best!).  It's a hodge podge full of memories and I couldn't love it more.

When we go places we let the kids pick out ornaments they like as our souvenirs...

... and the homemade ones are the best :)

I picked up this (faux) Delft windmill at a Christmas shop in Vail Village this summer because it reminded me of my Oma and all the Delft she had in her house.  It's extra special this Christmas.

Told you it was hodge podge :)

Last year the tree was where the little table/lamp is  and since we moved the tree this year I was able to add garland all the way up the stairs.

All the garlands I have are plain and unlit.  I add in the picks, ornaments and other things to make it full and visually interesting.

I added a garland to the console in the office...

... and filled it with all kinds of gold ornaments and glass beads.

Coming out of the office...

We have  smaller tree in the dining room (if you've been reading here a while this used to go in my old kitchen next to the fireplace) and a garland on the buffet piece.

Dave and I got married in December and had matte glass ornaments as our favors.  We had a 10 foot tree at the venue that we filled with all these beautiful glass balls with little tags on them with our names and date.  We had way more than we needed and I love that we get to pull them out every year and use them in our Christmas decor.

Since this tree and garland used to be in our kitchen I have all this pretty jeweled fruit that I use and love the colors in our dining room.

In the family room I switched out a few pillows and added a couple of poinsettias...

.... and of course added in as many twinkle lights as I could manage :)

On the console table we have more of our wedding ornaments mixed in with twinkle lights and glass beads along with another nativity and our Giving Manger.

Our stockings are GIANT and don't match anything else and we love them :)

The little niche next to the fireplace is always hard for me so I tried to keep it pretty simple.

I can't get enough of this Vine and Branches sign!

Something else I've added this year is our "santa picture tree".  I really wanted a way to display our annual santa pictures, but couldn't figure out a way to handle all those frames so I decided to just find frames that would work as ornaments!

The space was small so I ordered  this tree (it's the same one we have in the playroom so I knew it would work) and I found the frames at Hobby Lobby.  They were the perfect size and worked well because they weren't too heavy.  I just twisted an ornament hanger through the honeycomb part at the top and was done!

Things in the kitchen are pretty simple...

.... Mason picked out an amaryllis at Trader Joe's and I put a few roses into a small copper pot that belonged to my grandparents.

My FAVORITE plate (the kids made it last year) and  a few festive tea towels ...

... and then a basket of cards and mini tree for the table.

The desk area has a galvanized tray with the Santa plates and bowls that the kids use every night along with some fun and festive napkins that we throw into their lunch boxes.

Keepin' it real with the vacuum on the counter :)

And let's be real.. the best part of the decor is the twinkle lights in the evening....

I'm a lamp light girl 100% so all the twinkle lights are totally my love language.

So there you go!  Way too many picture of our downstairs :)  I'm going to share the few little touches we added upstairs on Thursday and I'd love for y'all to link up and share your decor as well!

Happy HAPPY Tuesday, friends!

  16. So pretty, I especially LOVE your garlands. Any chance you would do a tutorial on how you spruce up a plain one for us challenged in this area? It's my dream to be able to make something so pretty like that but I'm still struggling with it.

  17. I love your house all decorated- it is so pretty! And the Santa picture tree is ingenious! A quick tip from a fellow cat owner- keep Jellybean away from the poinsettias if they are real- they are poisonous to kitties. We always have to use fake ones in our house. I hope you guys have a great Christmas!

  23. I love the new spot for the big tree! It fits so perfectly in that space and it looks so magical from the outside. I also think the Santa picture tree is such a great idea and I may have to be copycat! Like you, I am having a hard time finding the right space for all of the frames and they crowd every shelf I attempt to put them on (no matter how many times I rearrange!) Now I will be on the hunt to find similar lightweight frames to hang. Thank you for opening up your beautiful home and have a very merry Christmas season! - Sarah from NYC

  29. Your home is absolutely beautiful! Love all of the Christmas décor and that you have multiple trees. I'm toying with the idea of putting a small tree in the kitchen next Christmas and maybe mini trees in each of the kids' bedrooms.
