Friday Favorites - Homecoming Week Edition

If this post is halfway coherent I'm going to consider it a total win because this week has been a WHIRLWIND!!!  A really fun whirlwind, but a whirlwind nonetheless :)

I'm the middle school student government sponsor and that means all things Homecoming including setting the tone for spirit days and dressing up.  Oh. My. Word, y'all.  ;)

Monday was 'Merica Monday and so I repped USA with  this hat and my  Ron Swanson tee :)  I think about 20% of people knew who he was and "got it" and the other 80% of people thought I had just a weird guy's face on my shirt.  Either way I was happy about it :)

Tuesday was TV Tuesday and I got a bit creative and decided to go as "shark week"...

Y'all.  I have no shame :)

I don't even want to know how many kids snuck pictures of me for their IGs and snapchats on Tuesday :)

PS - several of y'all have asked about my shark costume on IG and you can find it  HERE!

Wednesday was "Wacky Wednesday"and I went with the "more is more" mentality.  And the beanie was pretty much just because I didn't wake up in time to blow dry my hair. :)

Thursday was "Throwback Thursday" and I went with my go-to decade... seventies.  I'm always equally excited/concerned about how much of my wardrobe works for these days. ;)

PS - the print on  this dress is awesome! I wore it without the sweater to Tailgate on Thursday night and got tons of compliments!

A couple of my students threw it waaaaaaaaay back and I laughed all day long as I saw this sight in the halls and in class...

I.  Can't.  Even.

I saw this on Facebook this week and it may have been my FAVORITE thing all week.  It's funny because it's true :)  I've had so much going on this week and am looking forward to the weekend to kind of put our lives back together.

I've talked a little bit about mums before... they're a Texas high school tradition for Homecoming and they can be HUUUUGE!  Well, a sweet mom at school got Griffin her own mum to wear to the Homecoming game tonight.  It was one of her daughters old ones and she had Griffin's name and the year and everything put on it.  Griffin is SO PUMPED and I was so touched by how thoughtful she was!

And look how cute this is for Mason!  A sweet mom of a little guy on his team made these for everyone - he's going to wear it on his jersey tomorrow night.  #bestillmyheart

Another FAVORITE part of Homecoming week is the flowers!!!  I'm not sure my car has ever smelled as good as it did on Wednesday afternoon...

The sunflowers are going to be the centerpieces for the dance tonight and the roses I made into presentation bouquets for middle school Homecoming Court.  I am SOOOOO not a florist but I have a lot of fun doing these ;)

I picked up the Homecoming Princess crown on Wednesday afternoon and Griffin BEGGED me to try it on.  This was definitely her FAVORITE part of the week!

Clearly she hated it ;)

Because the week wasn't busy enough already it was also book fair week ;)  Mason's class visited the book fair on Monday and he came home with a wish list and at the very top was "diary".  He talked ALL WEEK About going to get his diary from the book fair and we finally had time on Thursday morning.  He walked right in, picked up the diary and has been writing in it all evening.  I have no clue what he's writing about - but watching him write in it so seriously was a FAVORITE!

All in all this week is crazy.  Crazy fun.  Crazy exhausting.  Just crazy.  But it's one of my FAVORITE weeks of the year.  The school spirit, traditions, events... it's all so much fun.

Hoping y'all have had a fun week and have a relaxing weekend ahead!  I'll be at our Middle School dance from 10 pm - midnight tonight so if you're looking for me this weekend I'll be the one passed out on the couch :)

Happy Friday, friends!!!

  14. Ahh, homecoming week was always the best in school! It must be fun to watch the kids' excitement as an adult. My daughter would die to get to wear the actual crown the queen gets. And Parks and Rec is amazing! I love that shirt!
