Friday Favorites - Pineapple Edition

Happy Friday, friends!!!

Erika, Narci and I are all sharing our Friday Favorites and we'd love for you to join us!  Grab our graphic, link back to one (or all!) of us and link to your blog at the bottom of this post.  Easy!

I hosted a girls night last weekend and  got to use my FAVORITE stash of mismatchhy (I'm aware that's not a word... but go with it) dishes.  A couple of years ago I started picking up fun plates that I loved at Anthropologie and then it kind of turned into a tradition with the kids where Dave takes them to the store at Christmas and my birthday and they each pick a plate.  It lets them have the fun of picking something, but reins it in a bit ;)  And I have a fun collection of dessert plates!

I'm rarely really "dressed" in the summer... I'm typically either in pajamas or a pool coverup but I did get dressed earlier this week in a few of my FAVORITES!

And speaking of the shoes - they are BY FAR my FAVORITE pair of wedges EVER!!!  Please pardon my self timer picture attempts but LOOK HOW CUTE!!!

And y'all... they are RIDICULOUSLY comfy!  Like... teacher-comfy!  While I haven't worked a full day in them yet I'm 100% confident that I won't have to tear them off at the final bell and walk to my car barefoot (not that I've ever done that before - ahem).  If you're in the market for a really comfy pair of cute wedges I can't recommend these enough! (and they come in several other colors as well!)

I've talked a BUNCH about how the Volcano scent of candles by Capri Blu is my FAVORITE of all time... well... there's a GORGEOUS jarred candle on sale right now and I am so excited because these candles (especially in the gorgeous cut glass jar!) rarely go on sale.  I grabbed several for teacher gifts, Christmas gifts, hostess gifts, etc.  When I get pretty candle jars I like to wash them out when the candle is gone and use them for holding earrings, hair clips, etc. and almost can't wait until the candle is gone so I can use the jar.  SUCH A STEAL!

Some post-dinner golf course and pool time is our FAVORITE!!!

Imagine my surprise when this guy showed up in my kitchen earlier this week...

... Mason's imagination, creativity and SPUNK are some of my FAVORITE things about him.

Things at school are moving right along... the new high school should be ready the last week in July at which point they'll move those teachers into their new classrooms and then middle school will move into the old high school.  We went up one night this week to check out the room I'll be moving into and I AM SO FLIPPING EXCITED!!!  After 6 years in a portable I am so ready to be back in my FAVORITE room in the school (this was my classroom for my first 5 years of teaching!)

Even full of things waiting to be moved I love it :)

Y'all.  CABINETS!!! #bless

And my FAVORITE part is going to be moving back into the quad!  This is right outside of my classroom door.  YAY!  And yes... that's Mason and all of his beanie boos out there in the courtyard.

We hit up one of my FAVORITE places this week and the kids were loving the misting fans...

If you're from Texas the next graphic is about to become your new FAVORITE ;)

I picked up this pom pom cardi for Griffin and I think it's going to be a FAVORITE this Fall.  Look how sweet it looks with the new Matilda Jane!

This girl's pool hair is my FAVORITE!

The next FAVORITE might be my most random one EVER!  Luke's FAVORITE fruit is pineapple and fresh is always better than canned but I have never had good luck cutting them.  I saw this pineapple tool online (it's only $7!)  and was skeptical about how easy it was going to be and y'all... it's ridiculously easy.  All you do is cut the top off your pineapple (which isn't hard) and then put the tool on top.  You push down as you rotate the tool and look...

PERFECT RINGS!!!

You just pop the handle off and then slide the rings down to get them off.  It is seriously way too much fun.

I'm sure I'm only like the 7500th person to mention the Nordstrom Sale today (SORRY!) but it's such a good time to stock up on athletic stuff I wanted to show you what I picked up for the boys in my life :)  (All the links are under the SHOP tab at the top of the page!)

Dave...

Luke...

Mason...

All my boys want to wear are athletic clothes and while I typically pick them up at TJ Maxx the prices at the sale are just as good so I stocked up on a few things.  The long sleeve dry-fit hoodies are SO CUTE and are going to be FAVORITES this Fall.  I went ahead and ordered them a couple pairs of the Nike joggers as well and I just ordered these North Face jackets that I think will be great for school.  The Patagonia zip-up I got for Dave came in too and it is AWESOME!!!  It's fleecy on the inside and he's going to love it!

I only grabbed a couple of things for myself (bras, leggings, pjs) and these pajama pants were my FAVORITE purchase ;)  They are ridiculously soft and comfy and so cute!

(I sized up to a medium and they fit great... I think they run pretty true to size but I like my pjs loose)

I've talked about Dressie Jessie before (her pjs are the cutest!) and she sent Griffin this precious dress and we are loving it!!!  I think it may be the perfect dress for meet the teacher in a few weeks! (how is that even possible?!?!)  I'm a sucker for seersucker and the sweet little monogram is absolutely darling.

Those little hands!!!

She's currently doing pre-orders for the cutest Fall pajamas EVER and the fact that you can get them for baby dolls as well is my FAVORITE!  You can check out her site HERE for ordering info!

Last, my FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE from the week is this song by Caleb and Kelsey...

I bought it on iTunes and it has been on a steady repeat at my house from morning until night.  Oceans and You Make Me Brave were two of Manda's FAVORITE songs and this version combined them and had me completely choked up multiple times.  When I put together the video for her service they were the first two songs we picked and I can't listen to either of these songs without thinking of her.  Hearing the songs mixed together in such a beautiful way had me missing my friend so much as all I wanted to do was have her listen to it and talk about how awesome it was.

Also, this week marked two years since Ashleigh passed away and I spent a good amount of time thinking about what a large impact she made on me in a short amount of time, reading through our text conversations and going back through her blog reading her posts.  Her unwavering faith and determination to share that with others even in the hardest of circumstances is something that I feel incredibly blessed to have witnessed firsthand.

The post that her husband wrote about celebrating their 8th wedding anniversary is one of the most touching things I've ever read and if you have a minute this weekend you should read it HERE.

Happy Friday, friends!

  12. I am ordering that pineapple tool ASAP! We love fresh pineapple but it's a lot of work getting that thing ready to eat. LOL! I bet the girls you teach just LOVE your shoes! Sounds silly but one of the things I remember about my 6th grade teacher from all those years ago is her shoes (she wore Yo-yo's - does anyone remember those? I think they tried to make a comeback but I'm not sure how that went). The things you remember!

    1. EXACTLY!!! I never really knew how to cut it properly and this makes is so easy! Can't wait to hear what you think :) I love that you remember that about your 6th grade teacher! I had a teacher in 7th grade who made her own dresses and always wore them with colorful tights and clogs. I ADORED her!!!

    1. Right?!?! How did we not take a group pic?!?! And that big navy wall (that used to be white) was where all of those signs were going to go.... but they don't pop against the navy so I'm having to rethink things - I'm excited to get it all put together!

  16. Next time you get a whole pineapple, you should save the top to grow a pineapple plant (google the instructions). It's kind of cool to watch the plant grow. It takes about 2 years for it to grow a pineapple, but it's SO COOL when it happens!

  23. I just prayed for Ashleigh's husband and boys a couple of days ago. Isn't it interesting how she happened to come to my mind right at the anniversary of her passing? I prayed so much for her family and I continue to pray for Manda's family too. Do you have any way of contacting Ashleigh's husband to see how they are doing now?

I'll share my preschool room when it's done and you show off that beautiful new math room.
