Weekend Recap - Happy May Edition

Happy Monday, Friends!  I'm not going to lie... last week was KIND of a beating.  As the school year winds down the daily classroom routine gets crazier and crazier.  Between assemblies, chapels, meetings, kids out daily for track and band and choir and a million other activities AND throw in my own kids awards, field trips, etc., etc., etc. it can get NUTS!  Keeping track of late work and work turned in early because they're going to be out and who was absent for what reason and blah blah blah.  It can be exhausting.  But I'm hanging in there!  I have great kids and I teach with the BEST people and at the end of the day I couldn't imagine doing anything else. ;)

That said, I did stop at Trader Joe's on the way home on Friday and bought way too much chocolate and the ingredients to make some comfort food!

It tasted as good as it looked and I'll share the recipe this week.

Friday night we took baths, played MORE Topple and I worked on my French braiding skills because they STINK!  Y'all... I can make a headband and/or a garland out of some old t-shirts but I CAN NOT French braid!  I'm trying but it's hard!

They weren't perfect but Pippi didn't mind :)

Saturday morning we hit up dance class...

... and then swung through the grocery store AGAIN (story of my life!).  Its no wonder that she loves going to the store... a dog food back rest, pink balloon and tortilla in hand.  #jealous

I can't keep enough fruit in the house for this kid!

Mason had baseball pictures and a game and he wanted to practice his "baseball smile" beforehand.  Just in case you forgot... let me remind you about his recent basketball picture...

Look how cute!!!

Baseball muscles...

... love that number six!

Dave snapped this while they were getting their picture taken... I'm hopeful :)

... and then silly!

We spent Saturday afternoon reading...

... napping....

... and literally watching a cold front move in.

We finished the night off with MOVIE NIGHT! :)

Saturday night a HUGE storm rolled through East of us - tornadoes, flooding and lots of scary weather.  My dad was at the lake house (which was nerve wracking in itself!) and y'all... look at the dock!!!

This is the dock normally...

.... and now!

Sunday morning started off with Mason's breakfast of choice...

.... and a "Sing" show :)

We accidentally overslept and missed church but made the most of the beautiful day taking care of some yard work, doing some cleaning and celebrating friends!

Mason and G ready to celebrate one of Mason's friends at Playstreet!

Cute friends!

Dressed up as a farmer :)  And look how cute he is in those boots!

Be. Still. My. Heart.

I left the party a little bit early to meet up with some girls to celebrate Willow!  Brooke and Tyler brought her home from China a few weeks ago and I was so excited to get to spend some time with her and her mama.  We all giggled at one point because we were pretty much all just staring at her :)  Y'all... she couldn't be any more precious!

And she's already got "selfie-ing" down pat.  Including the angle :)

GG has several Jellycat bunnies and we LOVE how soft they are and how they can be carried around by their super floppy ears.  I was so excited to give one to Willow and apparently she loved it as much as we love ours :)

After the party I ran a couple of errands including a pitstop at Homegoods!
I had on the shirt I've bene raving about and got several compliments on the color - such a great piece for Spring!

We're looking forward to a fun week.... Griffin and Mason are doing Yoga tonight at Playstreet (info HERE if you want to come!), Dave is chaperoning Mason's field trip to the zoo on Wednesday (y'all.... he's the best!), Luke has a field trip to a heritage museum and we have a couple of makeup baseball games.  BUSY! BUSY!

Here's hoping that you get to kick off May on a high note today!  Happy Monday, Friends!

  10. I'm SO glad that y'all are OK after those storms. We were watching them all weekend because we knew that they would be hitting us today... sure enough, all morning this morning we had to take cover from some tornadoes in our area. Fortunately we are OK and so is everything in our city (as far as we know) and they have since moved out of our area. Whew. We're expected to have more on Thursday, though. Jeez.

  11. What kind of contraption are they laying on the floor upon watching the movie? Pillows or something fancy?
I am a terrible french braid-er too. I'm not sure practicing has helped much...sigh
