Beauty Routine Revisited

I've blogged about my "beauty routine" a couple of times (HERE) and (SPOILER ALERT!) I am suuuuper low maintenance.  I've found a few new products over the past couple of months and thought I'd share about them today!

First up is this Microdelivery Peel system.  It is AMAZING!!!  I got this as a sample a few months ago and when I got it out I was a little bit skeptical.  First you rub on the "resurfacing crystals" which feel ROUGH (but that's to be expected) and then take a few drops of the activating gel and rub that on over top.  It starts to get warm and you can feel it working and then you wash the whole thing off and your skin feels incredible!!!

I have REALLY sensitive skin with a lot of pink/red undertones in general - I get out of the shower and am one big "splotch" :)  Here's what my face looked like about 5 minutes after washing off the peel.  This actually wasn't as red as I thought I was going to be (my chest is red because I had touched it - seriously.... that's how red I get!).  I feel confident saying that even if you have sensitive skin like me you'll be fine to use this.

I use this a couple of times a week and each time my skin feels brand new!  We always joke about how Mason has the softest skin EVER and he even admitted that my face rivaled his.  It's not cheap - but this is definitely something that I'll buy again (and I HATE spending money on beauty stuff - so that says a lot) ;)

I also picked up this clay mask on Amazon and love it as well!  It's messy but worth it.  I originally got it to bring along on my West Texas trip to do with the girls (their request!) but there wasn't enough time (boo!) so now I have a giant jar at home... and I'm not mad about it :)

I've used it four or five times and really really like it.  It goes on thick and smooth and while it takes longer than the package says to dry it never feels stiff or "cakey" on.  It's a pain to wash off, but leaves your skin really smooth and hydrated so I'm counting it as a win.

And again... a couple of minutes after I took it off and put on moisturizer.   A little bit red... but NOTHING compared to other masks I've tried.  I texted pictures to friends a year or so ago after trying a product and it looked like my face was on actual fire.

(Sidenote - this is the moisturizer I've used for YEARS and I can't imagine using anything else.  It's hydrating, but not greasy and a little bit goes a long way!  It's also great for sensitive skin.... GG will even dip her finger in and rub it on her cheeks while I get ready)

I've always said that I'm not super particular about mascara but I found one that is WAY better than all the others.  So now I can officially call myself particular :)  I buy mine at Kroger (where all high-quality beauty products come from - hahaha), but you can also find it on Amazon HERE.

And to remove it?  These eye makeup remover pads are SO GOOD!  I picked mine up at Target, but they're actually cheaper on Amazon (link above).

The last product that I've found and fallen in love with is Loreal Infallable Pro-Glow foundation.  Y'all... this is the first time I've worn foundation consistently EVER.  I've always been hesitant to try it out because I didn't want to look like I was wearing foundation (does that even make sense???), but after reading about this I decided to pick it up and give it a try and I REALLY like it!  It's lightweight, doesn't feel greasy OR cakey and covers my pink tones just enough (which is what I was looking for).  I use a beauty blender to apply it, add a teeny bit of blush and that's it!

And now a couple of other "beauty" recommendations for the kids (do you call them beauty if they're for kids?!?!  I can't think of what else to call them! hahaha).

This is our second bottle of "Everyone" kids soap (I grab ours at Whole Foods but you can also find it HERE) and I can't say enough great things about it.  I feel like it's a great price for the size compared to other similar products and I love that it's totally safe for the kids.  The scent is great and even though it doesn't say "tear free" on the label we haven't had a single issue with them getting it in their eyes.  I've even used this as a face wash while the kids were in the bath because #momlife ;)

My kids are also bubble bath aficionados and this is the BEST bubble bath I've found for TONS of long lasting bubbles.  PLUS it's fair trade and completely natural.  They love the coconut strawberry scent, but we've also used the coconut chamomile and love that as well.

So there you go!  I don't typically talk beauty products very often but wanted to share these favorites!  If you have great products I need to know about I'd love to hear about them!   Leave me a comment... but keep in mind that I typically buy my beauty products at the grocery store.  #seriously ;)

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

  4. I picked up the last mascara you recommended and really liked it (I think it was you - Cover Girl, green tube). I'll have to try this one! I'm like you - no fuss and hate to spend a ton of $$ on these things (but will splurge on certain products if I love them!). Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try several of these!

  8. Philosophy is the best. I use that peel as well. FYI...QVC always has specials on philosophy...bundle packages or jumbo sizes cheaper than retail. Brick and mortar don't stock the jumbo sizes b/c they don't have the shelf space. I use Philosophy Body Wash, body moisturizer, Miracle Worker eye cream and night cream, their day cream, retinol pads, cleanser and exfoliant. WOW! That's a lot.

  9. Andrea, I am right there with you on the pink/sensitive skin. I finally found a foundation that covers that and stays put without looking so thick. It is Clinique Redness Solutions. I LOVE it. And it is SPF 15. : )

  11. Try the Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoiliating face wash which is a part of the line you used. It really brightens your skin and is safe for daily use-my fav! I also lovvvve Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel as a toner after I wash my face-great for sensitive skin. You can find it on Amazon, Target or Whole Foods!

  13. I love Clinique's moisture surge too! I buy mine online at Costco (not sure if you have those in Texas?) because it's super cheap. I also buy their makeup remover wipes & Olay 7 Effects moisturizer which is my skin care trio. :) I'm with you - I don't want to spend a ton of money on beauty products. Oh - and I wanted to say thanks for your recommendation on the sheet masks a while back - I don't use them often (because 20 minutes is a long time in mom life, lol) but when I do - I love how they make my face feel!

  14. I agree that QVC is the way to go when buying Philosophy products. Purity is the only cleanser that I will use. I refuse to even try anything else. I recently washed my hair with my Amazing Grace body wash and it worked so well I ordered the actual shampoo and conditioner to try.

Also I am not that picky about mascara but I recently tried a couple of the Essence mascaras and I loved them! Plus they are less than $5.

  15. Hey Andrea! I have some mild rosacea on my cheeks, so I feel you on the redness. I was introduced to It Cosmetics' "bye bye redness" foundation/color corrector and I've never looked back! It is so light and covers all the red places like a dream. You can buy it through their website but I have good luck finding it cheapest on eBay.

  17. I love the "my chest is red bc I touched myself". SAME! People are always asking me why I have a rash and I'm just like actually I gently touched my neck 😂

  18. I'm always super red when I get out of the shower, too. It takes forever for it to go away, too! I wish there was something I could do about that!

  19. I went to Ulta to buy some Bobbie brown foundation and the lady working actually recommended I use that L'Oréal instead and I LOVE IT! She said make up artists use it a lot on models and for photo shoots. It's my favorite I've ever had!
