Weekend Recap - Spring Break Survival Edition

Y'all,  We survived.

Last week was our Spring Break and we were SO excited because Dave took the week off and we had a TON of fun things we wanted to do and enjoy together as a family.

Well, Monday night hit Mason something AWFUL and then Tuesday morning Luke was down for the count.  We went back and forth about canceling our hotel in San Antonio for Wednesday night (our plan was to road trip down there with stops in Waco and Austin) and finally decided to go ahead and play it safe and cancel and I no sooner hung up the phone then the bug bit Griffin and she went down hard as well.

Wednesday we played it low key at home, we cleaned up the garage, worked out back a bit and Luke and Griffin pretty much rested all day.  We just KNEW that Thursday would be our day and that we'd be off on a little day trip bright and early.  Well... I started feeling yucky and then spiked a pretty high fever and found myself in bed for all Thursday and Friday.  BLAH!!!  My fever broke on Friday and Saturday morning I rallied, took GG to dance and we even ventured out to a little flea market. All was well... and then the stomach bug part hit me out of the blue.  Thankfully, after lots of rest, fluids, meds, etc. I was back up and about by Sunday afternoon, but it was awful while it lasted.

And talk about a crummy Spring break!!!  Now that we're on the other side of it we can chuckle about "that one Spring Break we all got sick and had to cancel everything", but I really hope this is the one and only year like this.  Since we didn't get any cute pictures of these three on the Riverwalk, at the Capital, at Magnolia, at the Alamo, etc. like planned - we settled for this pic to commemorate our week ;)

And here are a few miscellaneous pics from last week and the weekend.

This pretty much sums up how our week looked Monday night - Friday.

When you're FINALLY feeling better! ;)

No fevers or tummy trouble for 48 hours?  Celebrating with What-A-Burger.  #texasforever

Looking for treasures!

Look how cute!  I got that pink one up front and will (hopefully) show you how I'm using it on Friday.

Thank GOD for my mom, y'all.  I can text her late at night when I'm covered in kid puke and she'll come over to rock my babies (and reassure me that I'm doing the right things) and then stop by with homemade chicken noodle soup (and force me to eat it) when even talking about food sounds unappealing.  She's the best!

Sunday afternoon I had to head to my classroom for a bit to get some things ready for the semester and these three (and Dave) hung out on the playground and rode bikes in the center circle.

Then we came home and did this...

And then after dinner ended Spring break on a high note at one of our favorite places...

They ask every time and we say no every time ;) hahaha

As disappointing the course of events ended up being last week, I can't complain about all the time together and all the rest we got.  We're gearing up for a super busy Spring and are grateful that we're going into it healthy!

Happy Monday, friends!!!

PS - Be sure to check Friday's post for the list of Blardigan Blessings recipients and make sure if your name is on the list you email Shay to claim it.

  17. This is random! But how do you keep your downstairs so "toy-free"? Toys only allowed upstairs?? I can't stand the mess- we have playroom/loft as well... but the toys still manage to trickle downstairs.

  18. I'm so sorry y'all were sick on Spring Break! We shared the bug over Thanksgiving this year and I was so sad.
Your bit about your Mom made me smile. My Mom is a rockstar like that too. Sometimes I feel like I should be able to handle everything by myself at 34 years old but I sure am HAPPY when Mom shows up in the heat of battle to help me out. I'm so thankful for her!

  24. We're on spring break this week. My husband went down with what we thought was the flu on Saturday. Fever, achiness, chills, exhaustion, etc. Flu swab was negative so they called it a "flu-like virus." On Sunday night he started breaking out on his hands and feet. He has hand foot and mouth disease! Can you believe that?! I keep waiting for the next one to drop, but so far no one has. We're supposed to go to Disney on Friday...Hmmmmm....
