Weekend Recap - #thathouse Edition

Happy Monday, Friends!!!

This weekend was busy busy but so much fun.

Saturday morning this girly and I hit up dance class and she was cracking me up with the hat :)  She loves going in my closet and trying on the accessories and she was so excited to wear this one to class.

Hat off, ballet slippers on :)

After dance G and I did a quick change of clothes and then headed to Kroger to grab a few essentials before a morning/afternoon of basketball games.

Ready for her brothers games...

... with a backpack full of play food and baby dolls :)

First up was Mason and he played so well!  They only had five kids there (eeek!) and so they all had to play the entire game and were SO TIRED by the end!

In between games we grabbed some lunch...

... and had a side of sillies :)

Then it was back to the gum for another game!  Luke is improving SO MUCH and his games are already super intense.

#littlebrothers ;)

After the game we had to ditch our plans to head to the lake due to a HUGE storm headed that way and so I decided to let the boys have some friends over.  Think they were excited??? :)
(yes... we were still in the parking spot)

Dave had to go in to work and I took the show on the road to the park down the street.

This was during a break in between rounds of "hunger games" :) hahah

Meanwhile, in the dirt...

We got back to the house and a few more boys joined our crew.  When I think back to this time last year we were JUST beginning to think that MAYBE we should look for a house a little more conducive for our family and it's so cool now to see how God picked this spot for us and we're now "that house" with the basketball goal and big cul-de-sac and backyard yard big enough for an actual soccer game.  Nothing makes my heart happier than a bunch of smelly boys drinking all my juice boxes, throwing their dirty socks all over the game room and getting to witness firsthand sweet friendships.

Growing up my parents made sure that our house was comfortable and welcoming and a place where we wanted to gather with our friends.  That came with messes and broken light fixtures (sorry, mom!) and lots of late nights for my parents, but I am so grateful that they were so hospitable and saw the value in creating a place for me, my brother and our friends.  Dave and I hope and pray that our kids and their friends feel the same way about hanging out over here now and in the future.  #thathouse

The crew left right before dinnertime and I finished this up...

... and while I was cooking this happened.  5:45 bedtime for the little one!

The boys and I snuggled up for a rainy night popcorn and Pokemon in my bed.  I still don't "get" it.  But the snuggles were perfect :)

And speaking of snuggles, check out these cuties on Sunday morning before church...

After lunch we headed to Dave's parents church for a 96th birthday celebration for his Grandma!  How amazing is that?!?!

Dave's cousin's daughter (does that make her my kids second cousin???) was playing around with my camera and look how funny! This must be what the world looks like for a two-year old :)

The woman behind the camera ;)

We visited and ate too much cake and had so much fun celebrating Minnie Fae Griffin.  Both of Dave's grandmothers are well into their nineties and we are so blessed to get to see them on a regular basis and for our kids to know them.  Dave's mom asked me to take pictures and apparently I was too busy doing that to get a single one of my kids with the birthday girl!  This one from October will have to suffice for today...

After the birthday festivities we headed home to do a project that the kids have been DYING to do... demolishing the old playhouse.  We moved it with us this past summer, but it took a beating in the move and it was pretty janky, had missing pieces, rotten wood and wasn't safe enough was so it was time for it to go.

The demo crew (and their mining helmets and random fabric scrap scarf) discussing their plans.

Sporty spice :)

They got the job done (I didn't grab a pic of it totally gone) and we're ready for a new and improved playhouse to go up where that birdbath currently is.  That whole back area used to be some gross ground cover vine stuff and we had it all removed and took out a few bushes as well.  This Spring we'll redo the stones back there and mulch everything and (hopefully) have a new fort!  SO FUN!

I hope that your weekend was a blast and relaxing all at the same time.  Tomorrow is our first "Show and Tell Tuesday" linkup for the year and the topic is Steal and Splurge and we're going to share how we save and what we splurge on.  Get your posts ready, ladies!!!

Happy Monday, friends!

    1. Mine typically are bed-only sleepers although they will definitely fall asleep on the couch as well. Luke fell asleep on the potty once which was pretty awesome ;)

    1. Right?!?! I think their excitement over getting to destroy that one may be more than their excitement for the new one :) hahaha We're going to build it with my dad (read - my dad is going to build it), so I better start buttering him up STAT :)

  4. Growing up the house I lived in was "that house." We had a huge back yard and lived at the end of a cul de sac, too. All of the kids in my neighborhood were boys so they would come over and we would play baseball together or ride bikes in front of my house. It still have sweet memories of that!

  8. Cute! When Griffin goes to bed at 5:45 p.m., does she sleep until morning? What time do you get up for Church?

    1. She does! We had been out and about and BUSY that day and she had run around a ton and so she was wiped out. She fell asleep like that around 5:40 or so and at about 6:00 I took her upstairs, put a pull-up on her and she wasn't up again until after 7:00 Sunday morning.

  9. My husband grew up in #thathouse and his memories are some of my favorite to hear! I so hope we're that house but there aren't many kids who live in our neighborhood, hopefully that changes! I love GG's rainbow skirt, where is that from?

    1. There really aren't that many kids in our neighborhood, but I pretty much always say yes to my boys having friends over. My parents always fostered that while I was growing up and Dave couldn't have friends over to play so it's important to both of us to allow our kids and their friends to hang out over here :)

  11. I totally hope to be #thathouse. I think no matter where you live you can make it the home your kids and their friends want to be! I am curious where you got that AMAZING bag in G's sleeping picture??? Have a great week!

    1. I couldn't agree more! I just think about our old house though and the fact that where we were meant kids couldn't be out front playing and how we're so grateful we held out for a house that was conducive to TONS of outdoor play. The bag is by Urban Southern! If you'd like more details and a link you should be able to google "Momfessionals Urban Southern" and the post should come up. Shoot me an email if you can't find it or if you have other questions :)

  15. That picture of GG sleeping on the chair, so stinkin' cute! The whole reason we bought the house with the pool, so our house hopefully becomes the go to house of our kids and I can keep an eye out on them :) I will feed all the hungry kids so they will flock to my house right? hehe.

    1. YES to being in the background and being able to keep an eye out :) I mean - it has to be somebody's house so why not yours! :) hahaha

  17. Just had to show my husband that precious picture of GG sleeping on that chair. So stinkin' cute and her "athleisure" attire is DARLING!!! I love seeing soak it all in Andrea, it really goes by so quickly. My kids are a freshman and senior in college and still feel like they should be your kids ages.❤️ (and I'm still not sure how I'm old enough to kids their ages)
