Weekend Recap - Lots on our plate edition

This weekend we had a LOT on our plates, but somehow it's Sunday night and we survived pretty much unscathed :)  I didn't get to vacuum and there's a laundry pile in my bedroom but everyone's 100 days items are prepared, lunches are ready and uniforms are laid out.  I'm counting that as a win.

Friday we had no staff meeting (#allthepraisehands) and so I kicked off the weekend with a trip to Trader Joe's for some essentials :)

A little after school snacking...

Usually on Friday nights everyone crashes early, but this past Friday they were up and running and thought it would be a good idea to wear bathing suits because Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was all about the beach.

They even fashioned a fishing boat out of my blanket crate :)

 Saturday morning dance class...

Class must have been extra tough ;)

And this is what happened when I put her in a pink leotard and sent her upstairs to grab shoes :)
#allthepink

We headed to the grocery store...

and then to Mason's basketball game.  He played so hard and I stand by my initial statement that there isn't a whole lot cuter than kindergarteners playing basketball.

Post-game snacking.

Saturday style :)

I had to get ready for a wedding shower I was helping with and as I was on my way out I swore I heard the hose in the front garden running... but I just knew I was wrong because all of our hoses are disconnected and we have those freeze protector/insulated box things on all of the faucets.  I ran around front to check and sure enough... all kinds of water in the front garden and water pouring out of the faucet (from under the little cover thing).  I took the cover off and tried to get it to turn off but no luck.  Dave was already at work so he ran home while I ran to drop off the food I had made and it turns out our faucet was broken.  BOO! HE shut off the water and was able to get it fixed - thank goodness!!! - but it was definitely an unplanned inconvenience.  It could have been SO MUCH WORSE though (I was having visions of a broken pipe under our foundation, etc.) so we're grateful it was a pretty easy fix.

After that commotion I loaded everyone up and we headed to a birthday party for one of Mason's friends and then to Chick-Fil-A...

With an ice cream pitstop on the way home :)

yes, we're parked :) hahaha

Pretty soon after we got home our night looked like this...

Sunday morning I woke up with a HORRIBLE migraine (I get the peripheral vision spots and tunnel vision - awful!) and so I went back to bed.  I honestly have no clue what the rest of my family did, but I was just thankful that I could get the rest I needed to get rid of my headache.  The only thing that works for me when I have a migraine is complete darkness and sleep in a cold room.  It's the pits.  I didn't get out of bed until after 11 am (unheard of!) and was able to shower and get a few things done before I had to be at Open House at school.

Dave was coaching Mason's game and so Griffin had to come with me for about 20 minutes until he could come and get her and she had the best time playing with the lockers...

... and teaching class before open house started :)

I always lose my appetite when I have a headache, but after the event I was starving so I had to scavenge around in my purse for something to tie me over since I was heading straight to Luke's basketball game.  I'm pretty sure these were from Halloween... but they were delicious :)

Luke's game was great - he is improving so much and playing so hard!

We got home just in time for dinner and spent the rest of the evening playing games and hanging out.  Mason got a head start on his "bear of the week" poster and y'all... I had plans for it and he wanted none of it. hahaha  It's ALL HIM and he's so so so proud :)

Hoping you have a fun week ahead and that you felt like you had a productive (and relaxing!) weekend.  Happy Monday, friends!

  10. I get tension headaches all the time as well as the occassional migraine, so I went to learn all about Botox this weekend. It's something I'm considering for helping with those nasty headaches. Hope you're feeling better, and those basketball boys & tiny dancers are just the cutest combo! :)

  13. Migraines - in addition to a dark, quiet, cool room, I usually go to the bathroom and stick my finger in my mouth to try to vomit. Usually, I don't vomit, but just the gagging helps take off some of the migraine pressure. (Sorry, for mentioning vomiting so early in the morning! ) Also, I don't feel like eating either, but I find eating something high in potassium (banana, baked potato) helps. Also, you should get your magnesium level checked. I take magnesium daily and rarely have a migraine or headache any more. I recommended magnesium to a friend for her son, and it has helped him too. Todd luck! Migraines can wipe you out!

  15. GG's new sequin clip looks so cute in her hair. Sorry about the migraine. I'm so grateful I've never suffered with those. My husband is from OK and grew up eating Braums. We were visiting in Sept. and of course had to make a stop for a yummy treat!!!

  16. I love how you always say, "Yes, we're parked" after each of your pictures taken in the car. Lol. I always do the same thing, because you know that certain people are just waiting to pounce and point out that you're doing something wrong. haha.

  19. I get migraines occasionally too. They start with the vision spots, then my arm and hand goes numb then I can't form words correctly. Then the headache starts! It's awful! Glad you started feeling better and could finish the rest of your day.

  20. I suffer from chronic migraines and have since I was 13...they're the pits. Mine don't go away without some rx intervention and even then if I wait too long (because I'm in denial of yet another migraine) the mess might not even work. I lose my appetite as well and drinking anything is like torture!!!!

  22. Hi, I am a pharmacist and the comment from someone above regarding magnesium is a good one. You would need to take 250-400mg daily (you can find it in the vitamin aisle) but it is a good option for prevention. Also, if you haven't already, you can download "Migraine eDiary" on your phone and keep track of when you had a migraine and keep a log of potential triggers so that you can try to avoid that combination in the future to reduce the frequency of attacks. Sorry for the long comment, just want to suggest some natural options for you. I have read your blog for several years and think you are just awesome!

  24. Migraines are the worst. Luckily yours doesn't last all day!
I've never heard of a school Open House on a Sunday? Is that a typical thing in Texas?
