Three Things

All things Star Wars
Luke worked his way through all of the movies (minus the last one... we still need to pick that one up) and he is OBSESSED!!!  His Christmas list includes Star Wars Legos, more Star Wars Legos and then a few other Star Wars items ;)  He's going to be a Star Wars flame trooper for Halloween (don't ask me what that is. hahaha) and I don't see his current obsession dying down any time soon.

Homework Hero
Luke is my homework hero.  My boys go to an after school program at school (since my office hours go beyond school hours) and he goes to "homework club" as soon as he gets there.  It's a quiet room monitored by high school students where he completes ALL HIS HOMEWORK before coming home.  PRAISE JESUS! :)  We do look it over when he gets home and there are a couple days a week where he doesn't go (speech and engineering days) but it is so nice that it's completed on the days he does get to go!

Basketball
Luke is so excited for Winter basketball!  He's done soccer in years past, but opted to wait this year and play basketball instead.  He's been practicing at home and really seems to enjoy playing.  Soccer was never his "thing" so we're excited for him to give basketball a try.

In Between
Mason is growing and learning so much this year, but he still says the CUTEST things!  I feel like he's in that in-between phase... where he's still half little kid, but half big kid as well :)  Here are some of the cute little things he's said lately...

"Mommy, everyone loved my show-and-tell show much they gave me a round of acclause"

"Both teams had on blue jerseys and so we got to wear these cool orange quarters" (they're actually called pennies)

Gibi: "Mason, you sure do have a sweet tooth!"
Mason: "Which one is the sweet one???"

Monkey See, Monkey Do.
Luke loves Star Wars... so Mason does too.  I am always surprised to hear him rattling off characters, places, plot lines, etc.  He wasn't a fan of the "smoochie smoochie" in a couple of the movies ("ewwwwwwww!!! That's sooooo grossssssss!!!!!"), but he picked a Star Wars costume as well for Halloween and his Christmas list (are my kids the only ones already talking Christmas lists??) is full of Star Wars Legos as well.

Scooter Time
I've mentioned before that Mason is hesitant to try things if he thinks he isn't going to be able to do them perfectly the first time (he is JUST like my brother!!!).  My parents bought him a Razor scooter last year and he tried it once, fell and has been done with it.... he actually vowed to never ride a Razor scooter again :)  Well, we've been playing outside a TON lately and I've been so proud of him because on his own he's gotten it back out and has been practicing.  I give it another week or so before he has it down completely, but watching him TRY has been awesome.

Craft Time
Girlfriend is ALL ABOUT some craft time.  It's the first thing she asks to do when she gets up in the morning and she'll pick a craft over pretty much any other activity.  Play dough, scissors, glue, markers... she loves it all.

I do it I-Self
Miss Independent wants to do pretty much everything "I-Self".  It's fun to watch her confidence and self reliance grow.... but this means we're also working on things like cleaning up toothpaste off the counter, sweeping up spilled cereal and hanging up clothes ;)

Zoo Doctor
If you were to ask Griffin what she wants to be when she grows up she would emphatically tell you that she wants to be a doctor at the zoo.  She likes to line her animals up and take care of them and a doctor's kit is coming her way this Christmas.

Down for the Count
A sinus infection has knocked me on my tail this week.  I am forever thankful for Mucinex, nasal spray and a husband who can take over when I sleep for 14 hours straight.

Christmas Shopping
Believe it or not, I'm done with Christmas shopping! I ordered my last few gifts earlier this week and have crossed everybody off my list (including teacher gifts!) WOO HOO!!!

New Perfume
I've been out of perfume for an embarassingly long time and have been getting by with Bath and Body Works Body Splash (like I'm 12).  I need help with a new perfume!  Recommendations???? I don't love flowery and want something light... but also want to be able to smell it all day.  HELP!!!

Happy Thursday, Friends!!!

  2. My mom is a nurse and has always worn Gendarme perfume. It may actually be cologne? She has to wear clean, non-offensive smells in her profession and she is also sensitive herself! I taught for several years and also wore it since I was crouching over kids and such! They should have it at Nordstrom or Bloomingdales!

  3. Stella by Tocca is my absolute favorite! I get it at Anthro. Hope you feel better! And I'm 90% done with my Christmas shopping - doesn't it feel SO good?! :)

  4. I'm currently addicted to Jo Malone perfume. All of the scents are great but I really love Wood Sage and Sea Salt. And the Elizabeth and James Nirvana scents (there are three) are a bit much for everyday wear but I like them for a special occasion or a night out.

  8. This is an old scent but I like Romance by Ralph Lauren.

Also, I've been experimenting with oils - because I'm not sure if they're just pixie dust. But I promise tea tree oil helps with sinuses.

  13. Lol on the B&B body spray- some country apple for the win?! I have used Juicy Couture (the original perfume) for years. It stays on all day and smells amazing. I get compliments every day. Even the Starbucks drive-thru window person made a comment about me smelling good...ha!

  14. DNKY Be Delicious is my go to perfume. It's light enough and has more of a fresh smell!

  18. My now 13 year old was obsessed with Star Wars when he was younger too! I mean obsessed! He was Luke for Halloween one year and I had to special order the green light saber because the blue one wasn't good enough 😂! Of the things they get into at that age, be glad it's Star Wars! Pokémon, bakugan -they're annoying!

Oh and my kids are making lists too 😀

  19. These posts are so fun! My 6yr old son is OBSESSED with Star Wars too! He is being Kylo Ren, the bad guy from the new movie I guess?? I don't know much at all, lol

I am so jealous you're done Christmas shopping!

  20. A friend sent me your pumpkin soufflé candle yesterday (I live overseas) and I love it. I had already become a huge fan of the volcano candle you always recommend, too. You should check out Anthro for perfume. I have their Outremer 'vanilla', Royal Apothecary's 'Noble Carnation' (it doesn't smell like flowers :), and Barr and Co.'s 'original scent'. I love all of them and use them for a pick-me-up throughout the day. I'm thinking of trying Jo Malone's Woodsage and Sea Salt for a 'spicier' option, but I've never actually smelled it and don't have access to it before I buy. I've heard so many people like it though. Also, Anthro's Pomelo and Sea Salt candle is amazing, too!

    1. Jo Malone's Woodsage and Sea Salt is amazing. I love it. The only issue is I can't smell it on myself after a little bit, and I want to smell it all day long. I don't know if others can smell it on me? Any one else have that issue? But I love the smell.

  36. I love Dior J'Adore and have worn it for years!! It lasts forever for me. I pair it with Bath and Body Works body cream, it's an old one that I bought a ton of when it went on sale. I think it's called Midnight Woods? It's not super floral.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love Victoria by Victoria's Secret. Would you mind sharing what font you're using in the kids names? I love a good cursive font!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sorry you have felt bad this past week! No fun! I am super jealous of the Christmas shopping you are done with. I have started but once I'm though my busy work time in a week or so....it.is.on! My son has been obsessed with Star Wars since earlier this year when we watched all the movies. We will be having a Star Wars Christmas and Halloween too. He is going to be BB-8 for Halloween. Google that costume...it has a battery powered fan to go with it. LOL Should be interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Marc Jacobs "Honey" is the bomb. :) A little citrusy, has great staying power, and won't cost you your fourth child. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I absolutely LOVE Amazing Grace by Philosophy! I get tons of compliments every time I wear it... on the elevator at work, in line at the grocery store, the doctor's office. It is light and clean and lasts all day.

    ReplyDelete
  46. How in the world are you done shopping??

    ReplyDelete
  47. Luke could teach me a thing or two about Star Wars; I've never seen even one clip of the movies! My little buddy tries to tell me about them at church, but I'm lost.

Don't you love their fun little wordings? Mason's sweet tooth. Hehe. I work with a little boy two days a week and have a folder on my phone of the cute little things he says. They just make my day.

Griffin. That girl is just too too cute. My niece is in the "I-self" stage too. Well...it's lasted 2 years, but everything is on her.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Andrea. Sinus troubles are the devil.

  48. I wear Chanel Chance or Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I am constantly getting compliments on both.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My 5 year old has been talking Christmas lists for a month now so you are definitely not alone! I would LOVE to have my Christmas shopping done but I have many family members who refuse to give ideas until after thanksgiving! And do your kids change their minds? I shopped early last year and by Christmas they were over the things I had bought! The trouble with preschoolers 😝

    ReplyDelete
  50. Chance by Chanel. They have three different fragrances. I've used the one in the green bottle for years. People stop me all the time to ask what I'm wearing, even late in the evening when I applied it in the morning. . It's light and lasts all day.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Chance by Chanel...the original one. And you're done with Christmas shopping...WOW! xo

  52. Look up Smell Bent perfume. It's quirky and fun and smells great! In the summer I always wear their St. Tropes and get compliments all the time!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Amazing Grace by Philosophy!! I cannot stand too flowery or too powdery smelling perfumes. Amazing Grace just smells so clean and fresh. I get compliments every time I wear it. I am also on a Bath & Body Works body spray kick as of late. HA! I stocked up on the Twisted Peppermint from last Christmas and I get tons of compliments on it too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. My go to scent lately has been Sugar Lychee by Fresh. I am not a fan of sweet smelling perfumes at all and while this is a light scent, it can be smelled all day. Also, love Indigo by Nest. This one is a little heavier than the Fresh. Both of them I buy at Sephora.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Since GG is all about doing it "I-self" you should hand her a scrub brush and tell her to get to cleaning the toilets and the floors! Haha. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to do chores! Hehe.

And I'm sorry, WHAT?! You're done with Christmas shopping already?! I need to take some notes from you, girl. I have at least STARTED, but I'm nowhere near done.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jo Malone. Go to Nordstrom and they'll give you a hand massage (heavenly) and show you how to layer their scents.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't think the 'love' for Star Wars will every go away! It's crazy that your kids love it just as much as kids from my generation (I'm 50)!

My new go-to perfume is Dolce & Gabbana The One. I love it and get complements on it all the time. It's fresh and not at all over-whelming. I have a regular-sized bottle I use when putting it on in the morning at home, and then a roller-ball that I keep in my purse to freshen up later in the day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I love Yellow Diamonds by Versace. It is very subtle but smells amazing and lasts all day.

  69. Ralph Lauren Blue you will be hooked and everyone at work will compliment how good you smell! A favorite of mine of mine for years!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Burberry Brit and dolce and gabbana light blue are good...but HANDS DOWN the winner is Angel by Thierry Mugler. At least try a sample...a lot of people ask me what I'm wearing and I will not wear anything else any more! I currently live in Hawaii and feel it is light enough, but also wore it in winters living in Tennessee--so it's versatile :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. You must try Miss Dior Cherie l'eau perfume!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Dolce and gabana light blue for sure! It lasts all day and you will get tons of compliments! Also it sight and fresh smelling.. Not at all floral!
Love hearing the 3 things about the kids! I'm sure it will be fun for you to look back in a few years and read these posts :)
