Let's Talk - Hair and Makeup

Happy Monday, Friends!!!  Today Erika and I are talking about our hair and makeup routines.

I don't blog about hair and makeup very often, so I'm piecing together some new content along with some from last summer since my beauty routine really hasn't changed :)

First up is hair.  Over Spring Break I posted this picture on IG...

... and got a TON of compliments.  It was so sweet!  I had been wearing my hair straight for FOREVER and lots of y'all asked how I got my curls.  So, I put together a video showing how I do them.  When the video uploaded to YouTube it cut off the first few seconds, so it starts in a really weird place.  ;)

So.... hopefully that answered all of your questions. Here's a pic of what my hair looked like that morning...

... and then the next morning for church...

... that afternoon after a nap...

... and the following day for school...

... the day after that I pulled it up into a top knot and called it a day.  Taking the time to fix it one time will buy me at least 3 days of minimal getting ready time, so it's totally worth it for me.

Here are the links to the hair products I use...

Now on to makeup and beauty products...

I am sooooooo not a "beauty products" girl.  I am super duper basic.  My mom MADE me wear mascara to my senior prom basic ;)

So here's a peek into my makeup drawer.

You can find the acrylic drawer organizers below...
6 section organizer and 3 section organizer

.  They're inexpensive and have held up beautifully.

I am not a lipstick girl, but I do love me some chapstick and gloss.  I have TONS of glosses stashed around and Softlips are some of my favorites.

For my face, I love the Bare Face cleansing oil from Julep.  I use it every night and love how clean, but not dry it makes my face.

And I've just recently started using their cleansing stick and sponge.

I follow it up with my favorite moisturizer (seriously... I've been using it exclusively for 2 years and can't imagine using anything else).

I pretty much always use neutral shadows.  Some are from Julep (when you sign up for the Maven box you get nail polish every month as well as at least one full size beauty product) and some are by e.l.f.

I've bought this palette a couple of times and  use it often.

I've tried lots of different eye liners (pencils, etc.) and the one I always come back to is $2 at WalMart.

I'm not super particular about mascara... I'm currently using the Length Matters black from Julep (see a theme????), but I've always been a fan of Maybelline products as well.

This last part is from last summer.  Let's talk about my hair! I want to cut it so bad!!!  But I'm holding out until I can chop off 8" and donate it.  The pics are below are from last February and this February... I'm hoping a few more months and it will be ready to chop!

Okay... so originally I was going to just show my products and call it a day.  But that seemed kind of lame.  Soooooooooooo....... I'm going to do a quick before and after.  No tutorial or anything because I'm assuming you all know how to apply eyeshadow, but a couple of pictures to show what my 3-5 minute routine does.

So this is without anything.  And is what I look like most of the time in the summer. ;)

And this is about 3 minutes later.  Eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, some bronzer and a quick swipe of tinted chapstick.  The end.

I'm not sure I've ever felt more crazy taking pictures :)

Quick and easy!

So as minimal as I am with my makeup, I make up for it in nail polish.  I've pretty much always changed my polish up a couple of times a week.  I paint them at night while I'm blogging or working on cards or blog designs and they're dry by the time I'm done.  I keep a little bowl in my desk drawer and throw my polish in there when I'm done and when I got it out yesterday afternoon it looked like this...

Here are a few shades of Essie I've been wearing lately.
One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six Seven Eight

And a few OPI.
One Two - Three - Four - Five - Six

I'm not linking to the specific Julep polishes because lots of them are several months old and unavailable, but just know that if you sign up for their monthly Maven box you won't be disappointed!  The colors are always awesome and a lot of their polishes only require one coat.

I always finish up with Seche Vite top coat.  It's quick drying, super shiny and extra strong.

And since it's obvious I have a polish problem - I might as well show you how I store my stash.
These CD cases are awesome because they hold a lot and stack neatly in my linen closet.  I also use these for storing game pieces, Legos and other little bits and pieces around the house.

I can't wait to read about all of your routines!  And if there is something fabulous I need to know about, leave me a comment.

Also, go ahead and mark your calendars for next month... we're going to be talking about what we have planned for the summer!
