Erika, Narci and I are sharing our Friday Favorites and I can't wait to see what everyone is loving this week!

First up on my list of favorites are these pictures that I snapped of Griffin on Monday night.

That giggle!!!

And since I'm talking about cute baby girls, how cute is sweet Millie?!?!  Snuggling babies and girls nights are two of my FAVORITES... so snuggling a baby at a girls night was the ultimate.

On Tuesday Mason and Griffin had dentist appointments.  The dentist is one of Mason's FAVORITE places (seriously!!!), but it was Griffin's first time and she was a little unsure.

We have the sweetest hygienist EVER and she invited Griffin over to watch Mason get his cleaning.  She stood there so sweetly and held his hand.  I almost cried.

Then Miss Pauline let them ride the chair up and down together a few times.

Mason picked vampire teeth as his prize and he was so excited to scare the dentist with them :)

I was so proud of GG!  She didn't get a cleaning this time, but she let him count her teeth and she was so stinkin' cute!

I mean!  The next appointment she'll get a cleaning, and she is already talking about picking out more bracelets from the treasure box (check out her right arm. hahaha).

Luke fell asleep in the car one day after school and seeing his sweet little face back there was my FAVORITE.

Griffin's FAVORITE toys right now are her Sofia princess shoes, tiara and wand.  She rocks them with her brothers old t-shirts and rolled up sweats :)

After proctoring standardizing testing this week I was walking back to my room and got to see my FAVORITE Pre-K'er!  He was covered head to toe in chalk paint ;)

This is my FAVORITE.  All the teachers say amen!

This week I wore one of my FAVORITE dresses!  It's from Anthropologie last Spring and every time I wear it I like it more. hahaha

Look how fun the print is!!!

And since we're talking about fun shoes, these two-toned TOMs wedges are so cute!
(I can't find them online anywhere, but I grabbed them on Zulily a while ago... hopefully they'll turn up there again!)

There were some terrible storms here on Tuesday night  - and while I was glued to the screen watching the radar - I couldn't help but laugh at what might just be the WORST infographic/graph EVER!  I teach misleading graphs to my 7th and 8th graders and this one is going on the lesson plan for sure!  I mean!!!

If you've read here for a while you know that Luke has always said "love you to Maine and back" instead of to the moon and I almost teared up when this banner from Sass and Crafts arrived yesterday.  I can't WAIT to hang it up in the kids playroom!  I have no plans for that space other than this banner. hahaha

Speaking of plans for the new house, we stopped in at Weirs this week to pick out some furniture and I think I may be more confused than ever.  My plan was to order a few things now so they'd be ready for delivery pretty soon after we move in but now I'm more confused than ever. hahaha

Y'all offered some AMAZING moving advice yesterday, so I'm hoping that you'll be able to help me with some design/furniture questions today.

So, here are a couple of pictures of the new house (my plan wasn't to share these yet... but I have thought and overthought and overthought some more... so I'm just doing it. hahaha)  The kitchen, family room and eat-in area are like one big space, so I want it to feel cohesive, but not matchy matchy.

This is looking into the family room area...

,,, another view (the kitchen is on the right side of this picture and the red room is the dining room)...

... one more where you can kind of see the kitchen.

.... and then part of the kitchen looking into the eat-in area.

So here are my questions and thoughts....

At some point I want to have the cabinets painted white like my current kitchen cabinets... so keep that in mind.  I'm also thinking about having the island painted and distressed black.

Here's the sectional that's at the top of my list, except it won't have blue pillows, they'll be in the fabrics that are draped over the pillows.

I have a dark brown coffee table and sofa table picked out, but am considering a black TV console (we're going to put the TV where the yellow piece of furniture is in the pics)... which could work if I went with a black table with brown top.

I'm going to have the kitchen area painted a color like this...
(the eat-in area and then the actual kitchen all the way to the wall that has the dining room door... everything that's the orangey color)

So... kitchen table.  Something like the one below???  Black??? I'm afraid that the white on the table won't be the same as the cabinets and then it will look weird.  What if I did the island distressed black and did a black table and chairs with a circular jute rug underneath???

This is the same table as above, but with a black base and brown wood top.  Better than the white???  I kind of feel like mixing the brown and black on the table would make it okay for me to mix the brown and black pieces in the family room, right?

Design-y people I need your help!!!  This kind of thing is typically my FAVORITE, but I think I've totally overthought everything!  My brain is currently as scattered as this portion of the post.  HELP!

Last but most definitely not least... WINNERS!!!

Jessica Orth!  You won the $50 Usborne Books credit and...

Angie McSwain Clark you won the Feel Good Frame!

Girls, send me an email ASAP (dave-and-and-andrea@hotmail.com) to claim your prizes!!!

Hoping to see LOTS of you tomorrow at Playstreet!!!  And don't forget to send in your wishlists if you can't make it!

Thank you so much for reading and HAPPY FRIDAY, friends!

  4. Your new house looks beautiful. I wish I could offer some advice with the house questions, but that is so not my department. I have to ask one of my best friends everything house related. I just do what she tells me too haha. We do have a brown and black mixed TV console. I wasn't sure about it when I purchased it because I did it online without seeing it in real life. I ended up loving it. I would love to purchase something for the Manda benefit. Do you know if Kat takes paypal?

  5. Check out Addisons Wonderland for some color design inspiration, she mixes and matches color and print beautifully and I think you would find some great inspiration. I love the idea of the different coloured island in the kitchen, even a using a distressed green would be something so different and tie in your new wall colors, green kitchen cabinets have become quite on trend. Good Luck, renovating and new furniture are two of my favorite things!

  9. So much fun in this post! You should brick that free standing wall in the kitchen area and brick the inside portion of the fireplace to bring it all together. I saw an episode on fixer upper that did that and it looked great! Can't wait to see what you do.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I say go with the darker kitchen table so it pops against your painted cabinets and goes with your darker distressed black island. :) then you can play off that in the living room also!! It is going to be beautiful!!! Xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  11. I looooove the farm housey table! And can you cover the pillar by the kitchen with bricks, to remind us of your wall at your old house?? Lolol. Whatever you do will be amazing.

  12. Brown & black dining table- yes!

  13. Our sectional is almost identical to the one you picked out! So fun but so overwhelming !

  14. Your green reminds me of a color Megan from Honey We're Home chose for her office; it's a Farrow and Ball color on her Wed post this week that you might like. I like the black based table and wood tones...black grounds a room. Maybe, though, it wouldn't hurt to just live in the space a bit and get a feel for how you live and function there before you make a big purchase. Sometimes what I think I want would have not been the best choice once I've lived in a house. Exciting and I'm sure you'll make it homey!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Your new house looks awesome! I cat wait to see what you do with it. I will suggest avoiding the green paint. I know you love green but it puts off such an off color cast on your sweet family in pictures. What about 1 wall or green accents?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would go with the black and brown table..Also definately white cabinets and different color island...Love the new house

    ReplyDelete
  17. YES to the dark table! It will be a needed contrast with the distressed cabinets and won't be too matchy matchy. And I say don't be afraid of mixing wood tones. I think it really warms a space up and helps with that eclectic and "collected over time" feel. I'm so excited for you!!!!!

  20. I love the sectional and am a big fan of mixing brown and black in furniture! My mom just ordered this copper table and it is gorgeous! It is indestructible with her rowdy grandsons and looks gorgeous in her kitchen. She can switch out chairs depending on her design style as well!

  21. Dark table for sure!! And we have white kitchen cabinets with our island a dark brown. The new house is beautiful. Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  22. So happy for y'all! I love the brown and black combo!! We have a dark brown kitchen table with black chairs and have some brown and black furniture in our family room too. And we love it!! I also want to paint my cabinets white like yours in the future so I'd love details on the specifics of that!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love that you are planning to paint the cabinets white and have the island a distressed black. That sounds perfect. I would definitely go with the brown and black round table for your kitchen table, so much better than a white table. I also like the idea that you are going to have a black console in the family room area. It will tie all 3 rooms together to have a black piece in each. I also think the sofa material and pillows look fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I say yes to the white cabinets, black island and black kitchen table!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love the look of neutrals mixed!! I think white cabinets would be awesome with the cream kitchen table....it doesn't have to
match. I love creams, whites, blacks & woods together. The black distressed island would look great, but have you thought of maybe just distressing it as is...leaving it wood??? You have great taste...don't overthink it!! Buy what you love...it will always be perfect❤️

    ReplyDelete
  26. I say YES to your white cabinets love love that! And dark kitchen table to tie in with the black island and tv console in livingroom.

Also! I love the new sectional. I've been looking at the soitblake weirs bc they have an outlet as well. Which location did you find your new sectional at? I don't feel like I've seen that one at my store and I really like it! Tks!

    2. I love the sectional as well! Can you share the maker/brand name? I am hoping that I can find something similar here in PA. Thanks, Andrea:).

    3. Never mind. I googled it:).

      Delete
  27. You can also have them match those chairs to the white table when you have your cabinets painted. Just another idea. I love the idea of white cabinets, black island and white table.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The new house looks so nice and like it will be great for your growing family! I am in love with that huge kitchen!! I can totally see the cabinets white and the island black. That will be great. I agree with you on not being able to match the white so I would go with the darker table and chairs. My opinion (and it's not professional) is that since the room is so large and the pieces will be so far apart, you can mix the black and brown finishes. Also the couch and rug will break it all up too. I was just wondering why you didn't want to put the TV over the fireplace? I'm sure if will all look great and at least on the paint part, you can change that easily if you don't like it. Best of luck!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Design and Decorating are my worst nightmare! The new house is beautiful! Love the table and sectional you have picked out.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Definitely the dark table! The white table not matching the (eventually) white cabinets will drive you NUTS!! Plus I think the dark table will be a great contrast!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, I love the new kitchen. Like so many have said - there is so much potential there. I always pick white over black - I think in big open spaces it feels so much more airy. I think colors like this would be beautiful: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/162059286568307340/

    ReplyDelete
  32. Look through magazines for some inspiration. I kept a folder of photos from magazines that really helped me in decorating.
I think two wing chairs in front of the fireplace would be pretty, too.
    Don't worry. You have style!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Are you keeping the black appliances or switching to stainless steel once you repaint the cabinets? I love white cabinets with a darker island in the center! I think it really makes the island stand out and always looks nice. I really like the white table and feel like it's more your style, but I don't see any problem mixing blacks and browns either. My TV stand and bar stools are black with brown wood, and I really like them.

    ReplyDelete
  34. So exciting! This is my favorite sort of stuff to read on blogs! I think the darker table is the most safe choice and will flow between all three rooms the most BUT I don't think the cream table is a bad choice either. I have different creams and whites layered between my kitchen, eat in part, and living room which are very open and as long as you mix many textures and shades of those I think that works too and doesn't have to match perfectly. I think you have a great design eye for your personal style and I really think you can make either work. So I say just go with your gut and which one you actually really love the most!
CANT WAIT to see how you make a new house your home!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Beautiful new home! Can't wait to see pics after you put your own creative touch on it. LOVE the black table. Also love your paint color! Doesn't Behr have the best colors? I spent HOURS choosing paint colors -- it's tough when you have an open floor plan and colors need to complement each other. A friend is currently painting her kitchen a similar green to what you've chosen. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Okay I agree with Narci..but also I love everything that Erika's Marla does...if I were you and had that close of a connection...I would seek her advice.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What color green is that? It looks like my son's room - which is Shamrock by Behr. I ADORE it. I can send you a pic of his room so you can see what it looks like on a wall if you want! As far as your design questions - I like the black/brown table with the plan to paint the cabinets white and the island a distressed black. I think that will look fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Okay, so thinking about your kitchen and dining room...... First- go with the wall color of your choice. I love your kitchen cabinets now so distressed white/cream and yes to the island- either go black or leave it a natural wood tone. I would go with the black/brown round table. However. Make sure it's big enough because my family of 5 would not have enough room for dinners at that size table..... And I'd skip the jute rug because your kids are still young and food will likely be spilled which will be a mess to get out of that rug. Especially because you have a dog. Go with a light colored rug and light colored photos or even canvas on the wall to keep it light and airy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Love the new house!!!

I think the black and brown table would help pull in the different colors from the living room. Absolutely.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love your ideas and selections. It will look awesome when you put your own personal stamp on it. Are you having trouble sleeping at night? When we were moving, I did! My mind just kept running in circles and I could not sleep! It was much better after we moved in:). Happy Weekend, Andrea!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love the white table and chairs! The wooden top helps keep it from being too matchy. That would be my vote with the white cabinets!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Definitely the black table with the brown wood too. Sheaffer always tells us brown and black go together now. Plus, easier to keep clean with the kids. I'm so excited for you, and also for the viewers that gets to see your transformations. Enjoy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. First, the top pictures of Griffin...beautiful. Those eyes. Second, the black table. Whenever I see the distressed white with the brown showing through, as pictured, I think it looks dirty.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm so overwhelmed just reading about all the choices to make! Decorating is not my strong suit at all so no suggestions here. I didn't think I could love a house more than your old one but the pics of the new one before any changes looks amazing so I know it will be so beautiful once you put your touches on it! I adore open kitchen, eating, and living spaces! Your new home is gorgeous! And I love the sign you ordered for the playroom! I ordered a sign all the way from Canada for my kitchen that says, "love grows best in little houses just like this" because my CA home is only 1200 square feet lol. Can't wait to see your after pics!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I say a wood farmhouse table...mayebe a bench on one side, would be good for when your family comes and you are playing games etc. I would consider hanging your TV on the wall and maybe a table underneath to hold everything, maybe something painted and.....repurposed.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The black and brown look great. It definitely makes it easier to mix both blacks and browns into such a large space. It's way easier to match the black for a refresh of the island and if you already have it, they can just match to what you have. So excited to see how you decorate the new house. Happy packing and good luck with the move!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love the green paint you picked out! As for everything else, I have no idea, but I know it's gonna look great! I couldn't be more excited for you guys! :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Love the green and totally love the idea of a round table!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. All I'm going to say is .....breathe.....
You are extremely busy and stressed this month and it's okay to not make these decisions until you have moved in and settled slightly. You have great taste and your home has always flowed well. So just pick out things that you love and nothing else matters. And if it turns out that you don't like something you bought, that's what receipts are for ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. First...deep breath! :) Your new house is going to look amazing! Go with the dark wood, round breakfast table, then you could get some fun fabric chairs to go around it that could tie in with the fun pillows on your couch! The table will go with everything you pick, pop against the green paint, and coordinate with the future color of your kitchen island! You could also put a fun light fixture over the breakfast table that is lighter in color (I'm picturing those distressed wood orbs that Joanna uses in Fixer Upper)so the whole thing doesn't seem too dark or heavy! Just my thoughts, but it's going to look great no matter what! It's a great open space for all the kids!

P.S. Sherman Williams paint color: Sea Salt, it is the most gorgeous light green/blue and is the perfect kitchen/living room color. It is restful and warm, but still adds a nice pop of color. Especially with a big two story living room, a lot of color can get overwhelming. Sea Salt wouldn't be too much!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'm seconding your suggestion on SW's Sea Salt! I discovered it at a home show several years ago and immediately fell in love with it. So serene and peaceful! When I redecorated my master bedroom and bath, my goal was to create a calm and restful retreat and Sea Salt was the obvious choice! It's lovely with my antique bedroom furniture and soft white bedding and linens. You're so right that this beautiful green-blue color is very soothing and comforting.

      Delete
    2. A third vote for Sherwin William's Sea Salt. It is a beautiful refined green that will be beautiful and classy in the room.

      Delete
  51. Go with a darker table. Also, from personal experience, (I have a similar table) do not buy one without a leaf to expand the table top. Mine has a 24" leaf (I store it under the sofa) and it is essential to have the space to accommodate extra people at the table. The base is solid and only the table top slides open and the seam doesn't show when the table is in the round (smaller) configuration. My table is 47" in diameter and seems just right.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Check Craig's List for round tables. They seem to be easy to find for a great price (I paid $75.00) and then paint it if you aren't happy with the finish. After seeing them on several blogs I purchased the outdoor wicker chairs from Target.com currently priced at two for $225.00 and I love them. They are easy care since they are for outdoor use but look great indoors and add great texture.
    http://www.target.com/p/threshold-holden-2-piece-wicker-patio-dining-chair-set/-/A-14908569

If you like a "neater" look in the family room (since the area is so open) opt for a sectional design with attached back cushions. Loose cushions and kids = lots of cushion straightening every time you walk into the room.

    Enjoy decorating!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dark table! I have three kiddos (8, 6, and 3) and recently painted my white and wood table black (leaving the wood, and I love the combo look.) The white was just not at all practical with three small kids eating and crafting!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Awwww love that to Maine and back :) I'm loving the new house pics!! I think that green will be nice in the kitchen and flow well with the neutral color in the living room. I'm like you with your green, but my color is blue. Love blue paints. I love how open it is and the tall ceilings. The kitchen cabinets will look great when you get them painted like your ones now. Yes to the black and brown wood table. That will look very nice! In those pics it looks like the people had a black and brown table and I think that'll look great. Cannot wait to keep following and seeing your progress as you make your new home more your own :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Love the new house!!! I can't wait to see what you do with all of it once you guys are moved in :) I definitely think you can mix the dark brown and black furniture and it will look great. For the kitchen tables either one would work, I think the black would be good just to tie in the other furniture in the family room and if your painting the cabinets white and island black it would match in there as well. Can't wait to see what you decide on!! Have a great weekend :)

  58. Beautiful home!! We just moved two months ago and our kitchen layout is similar...you didn't ask for advice on this, but I'd consider going with a square/rectangle table that seats 6 rather than round. We had a round table similar to what you showed and it made me CRAZY because with three kids we could never sit down for a simple/quick meal together, or when grandparents came over we always had to drag chairs in or sit In formal area. We ended up upgrading to the rectangle bar height table and I love it. It fits the space well and it so much easier at supper time!

  59. I know nothing about decorating a house. But you should look at Fancy Ashley's kitchen table. She is always putting it on Instagram.

  60. Thanks for hosting such a fun link up! I've followed along for awhile, but this was my first time linking up! I love it. Your kids are so sweet! I love them holding hands at the dentist! Good luck with your move! We've moved a TON (21 times in 9 years!) so we have a teeny tiny bit of experience with moving. haha! It's a pain now, but it's be so worth it when you get settled! For your kitchen dilemma, I would go with a darker kitchen table for some contrast to the white cabinets, and that would look awesome with the dark island. I think you could either go two-tone or all solid dark with the table and either would look great! Good luck getting everything together, I'm sure it'll turn out beautiful!

  61. I'm so glad you gave us a sneak peek into your new home!!! I cannot wait to see how you transform it! I think that if you're going to do touches of black furniture in your big open living area (like the console and island), then you should get the black breakfast table. I think the white table and cabinets will be okay if they aren't exactly the same shade, but you might not want so much white so close together.

  62. I LOVE Griffin's MJ outfit at the dentist! She is so adorable! What size does she wear in Matilda Jane? I'm trying to figure out what size I should get my 2.5 year old (who typically wears 3T tops and 2T pants in other brands).

  63. Check out world market. I recently bought a round distressed wood table and metal chairs from there. The table base is wood but the top is not but appears to be. At first I was disappointed when it came in that it wasn't wood. But I have small kids and it has been a blessing in disguise....super easy to clean no worries about hot plates leaving marks or drink rings.
