Weekend Recap - Last Bit of Break Edition

I can't believe break is over!  I am HATING not being at home with my cuties today, but I'm so excited to see my 100+ middle schoolers and my co-workers.  I just wish I didn't have to wear real clothes :) hahaha

We hosted McAnally Christmas last Monday night and so Tuesday was the day to take down our decorations.  I was going to leave them up through New Years, but the mood struck and so I ran with it.  One last family picture in front of the tree!

This year I had three big helpers which made the process more fun.

I have TONS of ornaments and picks and all of that scattered through garlands and in jars and a few years ago I started putting them all away in in labeled gallon ziplock bags.  This makes setting everything up so much easier!

SO PROUD to have conquered the step ladder ;)

Missing the twinkle lights, but feeling like I can breathe again.

So that ant farm that Mason got???  He's having the best time watching it.

Wednesday night we took my parents out to dinner and then went to Vitruvian Park in Addison to see the AMAZING lights.

The boys brought their scooters and had a blast getting to ride around the lake.

It was hands down the best lights display we've seen and we're adding it to our list of yearly traditions for sure!

GG and her Haha ;)

This deck was amazing!

The next morning was New Years Eve and GG and I wore #allthesequins ;)

We spent the rest of the day organizing and relaxing.

And playing kitchen.

We bundled up to run through Starbucks and grab some lunch from the club and then it was back home for more snuggle/pj time.  My kind of day. :)

GG ended 2015 on a clean note...

... and me and the boys partied until about 11:30.  #soclose

We kicked off 2016 with another relaxing day at home playing outside and building all the things ;)

This pretty much sums up the first day of 2016 :)

We finally put on real clothes on Saturday and Griffin and I ran to the mall to run a couple of errands.  She LOVES babies and I had to pull her away from the baby area at Nordstrom.

and I sat in a chair at Altard States and watched her look at jewelry for a solid 5 minutes :)

It was a fun little mommy/daughter morning.  She's been ATTACHED to my hip the past two weeks and I think that all of going back to routine is going to be toughest on her.

Sunday morning sillies :)

Excited to go to Gibi's house and AWANAS on Sunday afternoon.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and a GREAT Christmas break (if you got one!).  We were blessed to have some relaxing family time and are rested and re-energized to head into 2016!

Don't forget, tomorrow is Show and Tell Tuesday and we're going to be re-introducing ourselves and talking about our resolutions for 2016.

Happy Monday!!!

    1. Pretty sure those are Zoob blocks. My kids are 5, 10 and 12 and every year I buy them
another set to add to theirs so they can build even more! They love them and they hold up so well! Zoobs and magformers are big hits around here for boys of all ages. :-)

  7. I totally agree! As much as I love the Christmas glow it's a pretty great feeling when the clutter is gone and you can see your home again.

  10. So much fun! Christmas break has ended for us too and I am sad to see it go but the little guy is oh so excited to get back and see his friends and I am excited to have a routine. Ask me in a few hours if I still feel like that when he is dropped off and I am all alone in this house. ha!

  14. I LOVE reading your blog and commiserating with your family experiences! I also have a two-year-old girl, so reading about your sweet Griffin is so fun. After seeing the pic of you and your kids bundled up in the van, I just had to share this news story (Rosen Reports). It was a complete eye-opener for me about coats and car seats! Hope the link works! - Rose

    1. Thank you, Rose! My parents and I were actually discussing this earlier... my kids don't wear jackets when buckled... Mason took his off and rebuckled before we pulled out. We keep blankets for them to snuggle up with and always try to start the car while we're getting ready in the morning so it's warm for them. So scary and such important info! ;)
