Weekend Recap - Somebody Hold Me Edition

Friday morning was bittersweet.  Luke has walked in with me every morning for the last three years, but this Friday morning he hopped out of the car, gave me a quick kiss and asked if he could run ahead and hang out in the multi-purpose room with the other elementary kids who were at school early.  For selfish reasons I was tempted to tell him no.  When we're there early in the morning we always spend a few minutes in my classroom together... he'll draw me a picture, we'll chit chat, etc.  Instead I smiled, told him, "of course" and watched him run across the lawn to the entrance.  I love watching him grow up, but HATE that the days of holding hands and walking into school together may be over. Somebody hold me! :)

Thankfully, Mason still wanted to hold my hand and hang out with me for a bit and we had to commemorate his very first Spirit Day!  Fridays at MCA are spirit days, where kids get to wear their  MCA spirit shirts and jeans instead of the regular uniform... it's a big deal when you get a bit of choice in what you wear. And not to get TOO far ahead of myself, but when kids are seniors they can wear spirit shirts for the college they're going to.  When he's a senior I'm going to make him recreate this picture with me.  Somebody hold me AGAIN!!!

Meanwhile, back at home, Griffin was being her goofy, happy self with Dave.

I feel like the school-aged-shuffle has finally set in around here.  As in, every kid has to be a different place at almost the same time and who forgot the birthday present and WHAT THE HECK ARE WE HAVING FOR DINNER?!?!?! :)

I left my staff meeting a few minutes early, picked up the boys from ESS and then we made a pit stop at the grocery store to pick up a gift card and Starbucks.

We headed to one of Luke's friends Superhero Bowling party and the boys had so much fun bowling with lots of their friends from school.

The pictures aren't the best because I was giving the boys their space to play and do their own thing, but look at Luke's little happy dance!!!

And here comes Spiderman after bowling a gutter ball :)

The boys bowled, played mini golf, attempted a ropes course and had a blast before Mason and I took off to head back home and meet Dave who had picked up Griffin, but had to head back to work.  Told you, it's crazy - and we haven't even started soccer, Wednesday night church or other activities yet. Somebody hold me :)

Dave and I got home about the same time and Griffin Joy was happily drinking iced tea in the back seat.   She's her mamas girl!

Mason, Griffin and I enjoyed Pizza Friday while Luke hung out at his besties house.  I think he had a horrible time :)

Saturday morning this boy was still wearing his mask.

And was giving me some serious giggles ;)

Griffin and I had to run a few errands and we managed to make a pit stop at the Halloween section of Home Goods.

I picked up a couple little things for the boys bookshelves and this cute garland.  I'm putting off decorating until mid-September (or so), but this has definitely given me the itch :)

We spent the rest of Saturday afternoon taking naps and working on Laundry Mountain.  The incredible pile of clean laundry had been accumulating all week and I finally mustered the strength to fold it and put it all away.

Sister bear has finally mastered opening doors, which, unfortunately, includes the door to the refrigerator.  I found her like this at least half a dozen times this weekend.  Sigh.

And when she couldn't reach what she wanted, big brother was there to assist.

It's no secret that I love me a sink bath.  I'm going to need a farmhouse sink STAT because sweet girl is thiiiiis close to outgrowing the sink and when that happens I'm going to need somebody to hold me :)

Griffin LOVES to paint and we'll give her brushes in the sink to paint with.  Clean and fun!

And then after bath time, it was time for some giggles...

Sunday morning we were extra colorful and somebody hold me, because my babies are growing up and I actually got a picture with all three of them looking at me and smiling (sort of).

Griffin was extra happy ;)

I mentioned this dress in Friday's post, but I wore it to church yesterday and it lived up to all of my expectations :)

The color is vibrant and fun, the weight and flow is great and it has pockets!
I paired it with these wedges but I think it will be great with riding boots and a big chunky scarf this Fall as well.  You can find the dress HERE.

Dave had to work Sunday afternoon, and the kids and I all took naps.  Like, an under the covers, in my pajamas kind of nap.  It was glorious.  We picked out snacks for the week, tidied up the house and I graded papers (yes... I'm THAT teacher who assigns homework the first week).

Sunday night Anna Grade and her boyfriend, Zak, stopped by to bring the kids some cute presents that Anna Grace picked up for them while she was on a mission trip to Bolivia.  I LOVE having awesome teenagers who love my kids!  They're WAY cooler than me and my kids know it :)  And I love how special my kids feel when big kids like Anna Grace, Zak, McKinley, Garrett, etc. wave to them and stop on their way to class to say hi to Mason and Luke and make them feel like superstars.  It's one of the great and unique things about being at a K-12 school and is one of those little things that makes MCA so special.

Also, I randomly found  pink Natives for $16!!!  There's also black for $18 and several other colors for under $30 (and free shipping!) Snatch them up while you can!!!

Happy Monday, friends!!! Don't forget that tomorrow is Show and Tell Tuesday and we'll be sharing "Who we were in high school". Get ready for some epic pictures and tales from Marching Band :)  I can't wait to see and hear about who you all were in school!

  13. We have that same refrigerator opening situation going on at our house. And then when he can't reach the go-gurts, he screams his head off. He also like to open the pantry doors and steal himself some juice boxes! Tonight I am going to tackle my laundry mountain that is all over my dining room table. Laundry is the worst!

  14. Hi Andrea!! Wondering what size Griffin's Gianna leggings are? I got my little girl a 2 and she is close in age/size to Griffin and they are HUGE on her. :/

  16. Love those wedges! What size do you have them in? And what size do you normally wear? Just wondering because reviews say to size up 0.5 - 1.5 higher than normal, and I'm not sure which size to order.

    1. I'm normally a 6.5 or 7 and the 7s fit perfectly! I think they're pretty true to size.
