Friday Favorites

The first FULL week of school is almost complete and we survived!  We made it on time every day, the boys had great weeks and I managed to get ahead in some lesson planning and prep.  I cooked "real dinner" more than once and even managed to keep up with the laundry.  WOO HOO!!!

First up on my list of favorites is Daddy/Daughter Day ;)
Dave's weekends are Sunday and Monday and this year he'll only have Griffin at home with him on Mondays.  We used to call Mondays "Manly Monday" when he had just Luke and then just Mason at home and now we've dubbed it Daddy/Daughter day.  I love that he and G get some special one-on-one time and seeing some of the fun they had on Monday was my FAVORITE.

When we have all the kids, Griffin is usually relegated to riding in the cart - but when it's just her she gets to push!  (sidenote... Dave forgot her pants... minor detail. hahaha)

They ran a bunch of errands and then stopped by to see Papa Mac (Dave's dad) at the flower shop he works at part time.  Griffin loves smelling the flowers, visiting with everyone and, of course, getting a big pink balloon.

Their last stop was lunch at Whatburger where, apparently, she talked Dave's ear off the entire time :)

Luke's teacher is fantastic for a lot of reasons, one of which is that she posts all kinds of pictures on her teacher website throughout the day.  I love getting the emails alerting me to her adding pictures and getting to see my sweet boy.

I also love it because it gives me a few hints about what to ask him about that afternoon/evening.  If I ask him what he did that day I usually get a short, canned response, but if I ask him a specific question, like, "Tell me about the card game you played after Spanish" or something like that the floodgates of information usually open.

Mason's teacher doesn't do a website, but she does text me pictures which are my FAVORITE kinds of texts to receive. I mean...

and I also get texts with random Mason/Luke sightings from my co-workers as well :)

Monday night was bath night and the kids were even more excited than normal because they got to use their new FAVORITE towels from Whimsy Boo.

When Elizabeth initially emailed me about trying the towels and I checked out the website and saw they were made out of bamboo I didn't know what to expect.  What showed up are the softest, silkiest, yummiest towels I've ever felt.  They're like blankets... but towels.  They're stretchy, wash and dry beautifully and are super absorbent.  My kids got the toddler size, but an infant size would be the sweetest shower gift.

You can snag some now for 20% off using the code BTCMP821

I'm not sure if they're supposed to be reversible or if the applique is supposed to stay on the inside, but we reversed them and the kids ran around like they were superheroes :)

My FAVORITE hair accessory during my elementary school years was for sure a scrunchie.  Well, apparently they're back.  And they're pricey :)  The ever-stylish Anna Grace had one on her wrist the other day and she informed me that they were making a comeback.  GASP.  I took sewing classes in elementary school and could crank out a scrunchie like nobody's business.  I don't think I'll be breaking out my sewing machine any time soon :)

Because I am crazy and a little bit of an overachiever, I've already tentatively picked out our outfits for Fall pictures this year.  I know, I know.  But if I want, then I can't find what I'm looking for and it's stressful, so when I found this plaid shirt a few weeks ago at GAP it spoke to me and the rest of the kids outfits just kind of fell into place.  SO excited!!!

So back when Griffin was 4 months old and I was heading back to work after a summer long maternity leave I was having some major mommy guilt about leaving my babies (Mason was only two) before they were even up most mornings, so Dave started snapping a picture of them and texting it to me so I could at least see them in the morning even if it was via a grainy cell phone pic.

While the mommy guilt quickly subsided, the "Happy Morning" picture tradition lived on and every morning Dave sends me a little snapshot of Griffin (last year it was Mason and G... but she's solo this year!).  It puts a smile on my face right before I'm about to dive into Honors Algebra 1 and is a highlight of my mid-morning.  And another reason Dave is my FAVORITE.

It looks like she MAY have inherited the awkward wave as well :) hahaha

Our next door neighbors (who happen to be the parents of some of our friends) have a bunny statue in their front garden and she has to tell the bunny bye before she gets in the car.  #becauseduh

I've bragged on this dress A LOT, but I wore it this week and it's still a FAVORITE.  Cool, comfortable and unique.  I think it's pretty much gone in this tea color, but the red is GORGEOUS!

Tuesday night our Bible Fellowship Group (Sunday School class) had our end of the summer pool party at The Ranch.  Lots of people were out of town, but we had a blast with tons of our friends as we made our last official pool trip (I have zero desire to visit the pool again until next summer. hahaha).  POOLED OUT!

We didn't get home until close to 5:00 and we were supposed to meet everyone at 5:30, so we grabbed a pizza and called dinner done.  The kids were really upset about it, can't you tell??? :)

Our Sunday School teacher, Scott, has been with our class FOREVER and he's so great with our kids.  Exhibit A

I was not surprised at all that these two stayed busy eating pizza.  This picture is sooooooo them! hahaha

Ashby has the BEST cheese face and her little nose crinkle is my FAVORITE!

Ebby Lee and Molly were covering GG in dirt so they could bathe and then dry off their baby :)

My two FAVORITE boys in uniform!

Wednesday night a "cool front" blew in and I felt like I was pre-gaming for Fall with a couple of my FAVORITES.  Hot tea in my cat mug and crock pot spinach lasagna.  Yes ma'am.  And yes... I'm eating dinner at the computer while inputting grades.

Our first round of Fall Matilda Jane came in this past weekend and yesterday I wore my new black ruffle pants.  I love me a ruffle pant and the black is my FAVORITE!  They go with everything!!!
I'm about 5'4" and am wearing a medium so that I could have a little extra room in the hiney.  Since I wanted to wear them to work (and I stand in front of a room full of teenagers every day) I wanted them a little less yoga pant-ish and slightly looser :)

If you're wanting a pair, shoot me an email ASAP (like... preferable before 10 a.m. today) and I'll make sure you're taken care of! :) dave-and-andrea@hotmail.com

And last, but certainly not least - these two out and enjoying the cool weather was for sure a FAVORITE moment from the week.

This weekend we have zero plans.  NADA!  And I am giddy to just relax and hopefully get a few things done around the house.  Happy Friday!!!

Thank you so much to Whimsy Boo for sending my kiddos the awesome hooded towels! We love them and can't wait to gift some Whimsy Boo to a few upcoming babies!  Also, this post contained affiliate links - which means that if you click on a link and purchase an item, I may receive a small commission.  THANK YOU!!!

Also no thanks on the scrunchies coming back, I am scarred from having to wear the biggest of scrunchies growing up with my mom ha!

  18. Those hooded towels are adorable on your kiddos! I've been linking up with you for Fri Faves for a while, and I notice that when you don't have the link-up thumbnails visible on your post, I don't get any hits from your site like I normally would when they are showing. Can you do anything about that? Thanks! Have a great weekend!

    1. HEy! I have tried and tried to figure out why that happens and I have no clue. I copy and paste the code the same way every week and sometimes it shows up as thumbnails and other weeks if's the weird blue link. I'm still looking for a solution though!!! Thanks for linking up every week!
