Back to School with RackRoom Shoes

Happy Thursday, Friends!  I have kids back in my classroom in less than a week (eeeek!) and I feel like this post is appropriately timed for all of you with a couple more weeks left.

Before we left for Colorado, Dave and I took the kids and headed to Rack Room Shoes to pick out new "school shoes" for everyone!

We told the boys beforehand that they could pick out their own shoes, and it was fun to see what they instantly gravitated toward :)

They all got fitted, which we hadn't done in way too long, and then we got down to serious shopping.

Mason LOVED this pair of solid black New Balance because he said they were something Spiderman would wear. He was so sad they didn't come in his size, but I have a feeling when we're back next time he's going to want this pair again.

As they tried on pair after pair there was plenty of jumping, running and air kicking to test them out.

These pairs of Nikes were some of my favorites!
Mason ended up picking out the blue pair and I love that he can slip them on himself and secure them with the velcro, but they still have the look of laces.

I told you we did a lot of running - you've got to test them out, right??? :)

How big did Luke look in these Pumas?

Dave was feeling left out, so he decided to grab a couple pairs of "school shoes" as well :)

He ended up with the blue pair and an orange pair and we joked that he was going to wear one of each color at the same time like how Mason wears his Natives :)

At this point, Mason was OVER the shopping experience, but these sweet Converse got him excited again...

Can we talk for a minute about how "Mason" these are???  Quirky and cute and they're going to be ADORABLE with his uniform this Fall!

Luke's next selection SHOCKED me... he was obsessed with these Nike basketball shoes..
He said they were the comfiest, fastest, awesomest shoes he's ever worn.
Sold.

It was at this point that we realized that Griffin has never had a "real" pair of tennis shoes.  These coral Nikes were a fitting first pair and she ooohed and aaaahed over them the rest of the trip.

Dave was rounding everyone up at the register and I somehow ended up in the women's flip flops.  I'm drawn to flip flops like a moth to a flame... I can't turn away.

I ended up grabbing the white sparkly pair (and pushing my foot forward... not sure what I was doing) and it doesn't look like they're online, but they're the Chai Flip Flop by Roxy if you're headed into the store.

So, here's the great thing about Rack Room.  Every day they do Buy One, Get One Half Off.  Apparently I've been living under a rock and have missed out on years of savings opportunities :)

Just for some perspective, here's what we left with...

Two pairs of Nikes for Dave, a pair of Nikes and a pair of Asics for Luke, Nikes and Converse for Mason, Nikes for Griffin and flip flops for me.  And our total was UNDER $350!

After an hour or so of shoe shopping some shenanigans was bound to happen.  Yes, that's all three of them in the stroller :)

Everyone wanted to wear their shoes out of the store and we managed to all leave with smiles on our faces :)

If you follow me on Instagram or have been reading our Colorado posts, you probably spied their fresh new sneaks...

The kids all had a great time picking out their shoes and breaking them in on our trip.

We were so blessed to be given this opportunity by Rack Room and are fortunate to be able to send our kids back to school with everything (and more) that they need to be successful.  It is my absolute privilege to tell you about their Shoes That Fit Campaign where Rack Room Shoes is raising funds for families in need, providing new shoes to at-risk children to start the school year.

Every year, children head back to school with ill-fitting or damaged shoes because they don't have any other option and this program combats this issue.  Local school liasons identify children needing new footwear and supply them with new shoes - your donation(s) benefit students in YOUR community.

Dave's mom taught Kindergarten at a local Title One school for 39 years and Dave and I logged HUNDREDS of service hours there.  Being able to be a small part of equipping students like the ones we volunteered with for so many years and who Pam invested her entire career in is near and dear to us.

Rack Room is matching donations that are made in-store or online, up to $300,000!  Over the last two years Rack Room has donated more than $1 million to Shoes That Fit!  How awesome is that?!?!?!

The campaign hadn't began yet when we were shopping in the store, so we made our donations online.  If you want to donate more than $25, you'll have to go through the checkout process twice.  Simply click on the big orange banner at the top of the screen and you can donate any amount from $1 to $25 at one time.

Big claps and a huge Thank You to Rack Room for such a fun shopping experience!  If you're in the market for back-to-school shoes I highly recommend Rack Room.  The selection was great and their buy one, get one half off can't be beat!

PS - This post was sponsored by Rack Room Shoes.  They provided us with a shopping spree and we donated to Shoes That Fit unprompted and out of our own pocket.  All opinions of our purchases and shopping experience are my own and no affiliate links were used in this post :)
