Recipe Club - Crockpot Meatball Stroganoff Edition

YAY for recipe club day!!!  I'm gearing up for going back to work and  have decided to start trying the list of crock pot recipes I said I was going to try at the beginning of the summer.  When I'm teaching full time there is NOTHING better than coming home and having dinner ready.  Amen!

I've tried a couple of flops, but this recipe was a real winner and so so so easy!

I started off with...
- a 16 oz package of egg noodles
- 2 tablespoons of A1 sauce
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can of beef broth
- 1 package of onion soup mix
- a 2lb bag of frozen Swedish style meatballs
- 8 oz sour cream

Mix together the can of soup, can of broth, onion soup mix and A1 in the crockpot.  Then toss in the frozen meatballs.  I cooked them on high for about 5 hours until the meatballs are done.  (I think you could easily do low for 8 hours as well)

After the 5 hours were up, I added in the cup of sour cream and mixed it all together.
I let this warm through while I cooked the package of egg noodles on the stove.

When the egg noodles were cooked, I tossed them in with the meatballs and sauce.

This meal was SO EASY and my kids (and husband!) all gobbled it up.  It would be super easy for a weeknight dinner, pot luck or a meal you're taking to a friend.  It tasted just as good the next day as well.

If you have a crock pot recipe I need to try PLEASE email it to me!  dave-and-andrea@hotmail.com

Now it's your turn to share!  Link up below!

  5. Hi Andrea,

I love this link-up, thanks for creating it! I just posted a recipe for crock-pot ham, and you can use the left-overs to make Hawaiian pizza too! Please check out my link above or my blog at http://jandlwalter.blogspot.com/ for the recipe. Thanks!!!

  7. My go-to crock pot recipe is chicken. Take 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 can diced tomatoes (do not drain) and 1 package of ranch seasoning. Dump everything into the crockpot with 4-6 chicken breasts (can be frozen) and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Serve with rice or pasta. My husband's favorite way is with backed potatoes (can be made in the crockpot!!) with some of the sauce on the potato.

I also like ham in the crockpot. Just throw in a ham and a can of coke and you're good. Or pulled pork which is a can of coke and bottle of bbq sauce.

    1. Hi Torry! Have you checked out http://www.ayearofslowcooking.com/? She has amazing crock pot recipes, and almost all of them are either gluten free or she gives directions to make it gluten free (I think the author has a gluten allergy in her family). It's a great resource!

  12. Yum! We make something similar here, but instead of the meatballs, we use small cut up pieces of steak. I fry up the cut up pieces of steak on the stove first, and then put them in the crockpot. By the time the meat has sat in the mixture on low all day it is so tender.

  13. The kiddos and I love stroganoff - but my hubby just does not like it. It is way too easy to give up on so easily, so I make try your recipe. He thinks it lacks flavor!

  15. Simple and delicious! I am skeptical when trying new recipes. I have never had homemade stroganoff, but I love it and I haven't used HH in a long time and I was missing it. My husband gave me a thumbs up with a full mouth and my dad said I could make it anytime I wanted. If I make it again I will have to make a half recipe or freeze the rest because it made enough to feed an army(no joke).

  16. I have been making this for a couple of years now. Its a go to recipe for me. I don't care for Swedish meatballs so I use home-style. It makes enough for more then 3 days of meals for 3 people. Great recipe!
