Friday Favorites - No Plans This Weekend Edition!!!

Happy Friday, Friends!!!
So how much fun was this week with all the partying going on here on the blog?!?!?! ;)  Partied out??? hahaha

First up on my list of FAVORITES this week are a couple of outfit of Griffins :)  They are from past season of Matilda Jane and I ADORE THEM!!!  The colors, prints, cardsi, everything.  They're some of my current FAVORITES.

Next up is this.......

Getting my hands extra dirty out in the yard is one of my FAVORITE things.  Our yard is TONS of work and we're making some big improvements this year. EEEEK!!!

These pictures really aren't fair because it's still early and nothing is as green yet... but below is a pic of this year on the left and last year on the right...

I'm aware that it looks like we've ruined our yard. hahaha  BUUUUT all that really tall, pretty liriope grass was TAKING over all of our beds and lawn and so we've been in the process of ripping it all out.  It's AWFUL and crazy hard, but we're determined to get it all out and kind of have a "fresh start" on this side of the house.  I'm also ready for our grass to come back and for my hibiscus tree to bloom ;)  We don't have plans to plant anything in this bed this year (we want to make sure that the liriope is gone for good, but I have plans to fill this side with flowering perennials).

On Tuesday afternoon we hit up one of our FAVORITE places... the library!!!  Both my boys were having crazy hair (they sleep HARD during nap time and have the bedhead to prove it every day!)...

We picked out our books and then hit up the computer area.  They "body" game is Mason's FAVORITE!

As we were leaving the library Dave pulled out his phone to snap a pic of our boys holding hands (because PRECIOUS!), but they were fighting (someone squeezed someone else's hand too hard) and when he turned around he snapped this one.  Toddlers are totally my FAVORITE ;)

"No, you may NOT stick Olaf in that person's exhaust pipe"
Cue tantrum.

It has been super rainy here this week and on Monday we had a legit flash flood.  This is the courtyard of our high school several hours after the rain had stopped (and yes... there are drains out there)...

... Mustang Lake is always one of my FAVORITE Spring scenes :) hahaha

I picked up a new book this week and it's our entire family's FAVORITE.

The Day the Crayons Quit is soooooooo fun and witty and well written.  If my kid is coming to your kids birthday party anytime soon, you can expect that we'll be gifting a copy :)  If one of my crazies will not be attending your littles' party, well... you can order your own copy HERE

Yesterday was chaotic and crazy as I set off with our entire 6th and 8th grades to serve at Mission Arlington.   I was with these 8th graders as we distributed flyers for kid's Bible studies and picked up trash through several apartment complexes.  It was rainy, but I'm always impressed by out student's willingness to serve others... even if I'm NOT impressed by the pics they try to airdrop me or their inability to sit down while the bus is in motion. hahaha)

This picture from earlier in the week is several of my FAVORITE things.  Peach green tea lemonade, fun jewelry, bright polish and my Barrington St. Charles Yacht Tote.

If you've been eyeing a Barrington Bag, now is the time to grab one!!!  They're running a site-wide sale and you can use the code below for 10% off!

In case you're curious, I have the St. Charles tote in black and white stripe and it's GORGEOUS!  And huge.  Like... really, really big.  I like big bags (I carry tons of junk like papers to grade, stuffed animals, etc.), but be aware... it's giant.

It would be a FABULOUS bag to take on a road trip or to the park.  I love that I can throw tons of stuff in there and carry only one bag.

I also have (AND LOVE!) the St. Anne Tote in the orange key pattern.  It's a great every day bag and it's held up AMAZINGLY well considering everything I've toted around in it.

Next up, I shared this pic on IG, but can't resist sharing it again.  Griffin's FAVORITE part of the day??? Getting a pre-bed back rub from her daddy.  SIGH.

Last up, one of my FAVORITE moments from the week was taking these two to their two and four year check-ups.  Dave has done the last several check-ups and so I was really excited to get to go to this one.

We looooooooove our pediatrician and I loooooooooove Mason's perfect posture and little belly. hehehe

Mason gained 3 inches and 2 lbs this year which puts him in the 20th percentile for height and 30th for weight.  He was super brave for his last round of immunizations and picked out some fantastic stickers.

This girl is up 3 lbs since her 18 month check-up and hit the 34" mark.

She was REALLY enjoying her sucker, which was good since about 4 seconds later she had it stuck in her freshly washed curls.  Oi.

This weekend is going to be awesome.  Want to know why?  We have NOTHING on our agenda.  Not. A. Thing.   I take that back... I have the middle school semi-formal on Saturday night, but other than that our only plans include nothing but working in the yard and enjoying each other. YAY!!!

See you on Monday for Erika and my Favorite Things party!  We're going to be sharing our FAVORITE accessories and you should plan on linking up and joining in the fun!

Enjoy your weekends, friends!!!

    1. While gardening??? I feel like gloves ruin my "gardening experience". hahaha I don't feel like I can pull weeds as well or really "get after it" if I'm wearing gloves. #imaweirdo

  9. You're all so adorable! Love your blog. Question about the St. Anne tote - how do you clean the inside? I assume it's not machine washable because of the leather. Thanks! Seriously thinking of getting one!

    1. I haven't had to clean it so far... but I'd probably just wipe it down with a soapy sponge

  15. As a literacy specialist I must say that The Day The Crayons Quit is one of my absolute favorite books to read out loud to children. You will never color again without thinking about it either :)

    1. What else can you do during a tantrum, right?!?!?! :) hahaha And yes.. I probably shouldn't garden with them on... I usually end up gardening kind of out of the blue (i.e.... oh goodness... let me just pull this weed really quick, oh and this one, oh and let me spread some mulch... hahaha), but I'll have to make a point to take them off GREAT advice!

  18. This is a totally random question, but I was just wondering as a teacher what is your opinion on Common Core, and does your school use it or did they opt out? thanks for all your fun posts and for being a great Christian role model.

    1. Texas did not opt into the Common Core standards.

    2. We don't do common core... and from everything I've seen about the common core Math, I'm relieved! ;)

  20. I love the big bags you carry, and am tempted to get one for myself. The only problem is that I'm afraid it'll end up really hurting my shoulder or back (sometimes I get it even carrying my crossbody bag too much!). Do you run into this issue?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I haven't so far! But maybe I'm super strong from years of carrying WAY too much stuff :)

  23. Question for you. I'm going to my cousin's baby shower in a couple weeks and they asked us to bring a book rather than a card. After reading your recommendation about The Day The Crayons Quit, I'm thinking that one might be perfect. Do you think that would be ok for a shower gift though? Or better to wait till a birthday when the baby is older?

    1. It's super cute - but a board book might be better. Here are a few of our favorites...

"I Love You, Goodnight" - Jon Buller
"I Love You Through and Through" - Bernadette Rossetti Shustak
"You Are My Sunshine" - Jimmie Davis

      Hope this helps!!! :)

  24. Your daughter is so tall! 34" must be off the charts for two years old! My daughter was 36" at three years old and at 80%. I wish I could be tall for my age (only 5'3") ! 😂😂 Your blog is one of my favorites! Have a great weekend!

  25. The Day the Crayons Quit is our all time favorite book!! My Jagger belly laughs every time we read it! I totally recommend it to everyone!

  26. I like big bags and I cannot lie! (Haha, sorry, couldn't resist :) I just love reading your blog! I recently came across a website filled with hate and criticism directed at bloggers and it made me so sad. I hope you don't let that unfair criticism get to you! Also, The Day the Crayons Quit is one of our all time faves as well! My kids could read it over and over and over (and we do!) Hope you have a great weekend Andrea!
