Favorite Things Party - Accessories

Happy Monday, Friends!  Our weekend was so much fun and I can't wait to share that with y'all tomorrow!  Today is Erika an my Favorite Things Party and today we're talking about our favorite accessories!!!

Originally I was going to talk about some of my favorite Spring scarves, but then Erika's kids gave Mason and Griffin new sunglasses as part of their birthday gifts and this post was born :)

Mason received these aviators and I immediately felt like he should break into "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" ;)

These have been his FAVORITE accessory all week.

And since we're talking aviators, one of my very favorite pictures EVER of Luke is this one from the summer of 2012...

Erika picked out these heart-shaped frames for Miss Priss and love is an understatement.  Instant sass!

Monday morning snackeez, paci and sunnies.  Duh.

JUST TO CLARIFY.... my note below was not in response to any comment or "meanness".  A couple of you have emailed me about it and apparently it didn't come across the way it sounded in my head....  I've just been asked A LOT lately about when we are planning on taking away the paci since she's two now and so I was attempting to answer that question proactively.  ;)   Sincere apologies if it comes across as anything else!

And no.... we don't have plans to take her paci away anytime soon.  Typically she has it only at bedtime, but her eye teeth are doing a number on her sweet self and so we've been relaxed about our paci rules for everyone's sake.  Both the boys LOVED their pacis and giving them up WHEN THEY WERE READY was no big deal.  My dentist has told us that as long as she doesn't have it when she gets her adult teeth, she'll be fine :)  And considering that Luke is 7 and hasn't lost a single tooth, I think we're good to go for a while.

If you're looking for cute kids sunglasses, GAP always has great ones.  I love this pair for Mason and this pair for Luke and I think GG would ROCK this pair at the pool this summer. :)

And if you're looking for new sunglasses for yourself, THIS PAIR is one of my favorites (and they're $50 off!!!) and THIS PAIR is only $12!!!  (I tend to lose sunglasses... so I usually lean toward the $12 pairs. hahaha)

I've blogged before about the "ringer scarves" from Nordstrom and how perfect they are for Spring and Summer (think paired with a maxi dress) and in case you missed the memo, you can find them HERE.  They're lightweight and pretty much "foolproof".

  4. Oh my gosh! Thank you for your side note on the paci!!! My Lily loves her "nu nu", but I'm feeling pressured to take it away as we approach her 2nd birthday. I feel relieved now after reading your post! When were your boys ready? I think Lily would go off to college with hers if she had the choice! :)

    1. My boys were almost three when they really understood and I could reason with them about taking it away (and they didn't seem to "need" it as much by that point). I would much rather them take a paci than start sucking their thumbs/fingers by us taking it away too early (because I've heard that is WAY harder to break).

  8. What do you mean by Griffin's eye teeth?

    1. Eye teeth are your cuspids.... not your two front teeth, or the ones next to them, but the ones on the outside of those. They're typically some of the last teeth to come in and are super uncomfortable for kids ;(

  10. My younger son was completely attached to his pacifier (Or, Meep-Meep) as he called it. He had names for all of them...there was greenie, other greenie, circles, blue-blue, etc) He would talk to them at night while he was trying to fall asleep, they were like his friends! I honestly thought we would be trying to get him to hand them over while walking into kindergarten....then one day, when he was a little over 2.5, he just handed them over. Just like that....he was going to bed and said "I a big boy" and handed them all to me, never looked back. For as happy as I was that he did it on his own, I think I was more upset than him, and sad at the loss of his meep-meeps. It was one less "baby" thing about him, and it broke my heart. GG will give them up when she's ready...don't stress about it, and don't worry about what anyone else is saying.

  11. I love your posts! Your kids are too cute! My son had his paci until he was 3 and taking it away was so much easier since he was ready and understood what was going on! I love your honesty.

  12. OH my gosh, those sunglasses, LOVE! On both of them.

  13. Andrea, I did not find any meanness or sass in the comment about the paci! :) And--it's your family and you'll do what you want ;)

I love those sunglasses on the little ones! I cannot wait to have my own little one to put some on!

  14. When you talk about "Mason Time" I know exactly what your are talking about, my youngest runs on her own time. She had her pacifier until she was 4! Four! In the grand scheme of things it didn't matter at all. And most important I kept my sanity!

  15. Oh my goodness.....I really just don't know why it's necessary to offer unsolicited advice. If you want let her have her paci until she's 5 that is your business, your right as her parent. I have done things differently with all 4 of my kids just because they are all 4 different....my best advice always for a parent is to trust your own instincts.

  17. Oh my gosh, so bummed I forgot this was today! I need to write things down :) My favorite accessory is scarves and I had a whole post planned and then posted something else. LOVE those ringer scarves and all other scarves from Nordstrom too!

  18. Those aviators are adorable and my middle son used a paci until baby #3 was born. He just kinda needed it when I was pregnant. I would;t worry about it.

I am thrilled I found you. I'm loving your blog and your kids. Everyone is adorable and I LOVED your tutu outfit from the kids' dance.

  19. Must get those aviators for Xavier asap! Love them! And that video of Mason is great! Of course GG looks super sassy and cute in her sunnies as well :) I loved those ringer scarves so much I ordered some for my mom! :)
And I can totally relate to the paci discusion/comment. Xavier had his through his 3rd birthday. We did finally take it away, but he kind of gave it up then too. Everyone drove me crazy asking when and saying he was too big for it. That was his security blanket and I knew it would go away when the time was right. Same with him sleeping in our bed...yes I am one of those parents. He is my only, and quite possible the only, I am milking all those snuggles for as long as I can :)

  21. Love the sunglasses!

Also loved your disclaimer about the paci! My daughter, Katherine, basically self weined in late May/early June 2014 at almost 2.5. My husband and I had decided that once the last paci broke that we would not replace it. Like Griffin she only used it at nap time, bed time and when she was scared (during thunderstorms). Her precious pink paci broke (cracked) on afternoon and she brought it to me saying it was "not good and hurt her". We talked about it being broken and she threw it away. She asked for it the first two or three nights, but when we would remind her it was broken she was fine. Same with potty training! When she decided she was ready, she was ready with very few accidents. We Mommys have to listen to our little ones and pay attention to their behaviors. They will tell us when they are ready for these things.

  22. Your kiddos in the shades! Too much adorableness to handle!!! I am loving those glittery pair! I have a thing for sunnies. I just may have to fork over the cash for them. This is my first time linking up with you. So fun. I'm off to check out the other girls as well.

  23. I have 4 kids (5, 4, 2 and 1) and got my first 2 off the binky after they each turned a year old. However, my 2 year old isn't giving up her binkies anytime soon. It drives me insane when people yell at her to take the binky out of her mouth because it's nobody's freaking business. She had a dentist appointment today and I talked to them about it and she said that it's really not a big deal. It's a comfort thing and when she's ready she'll give it up. :)
