Weekend Wrap-Up... It's GORGEOUS outside edition!

It's Monday morning and I'm not at work - amen :) hahaha
Going back to school after Christmas break is ROUGH and everyone on campus was ready for a mental health day.

Friday morning started with me attempting to snap a pic of the new Jade Sophie hoodie from Evys Tree.... and I kept being "blasted" by Mason instead :) hahaha  #momlife

My morning started off bright and early with a pep rally (because every 8 a.m. should be accompanied by a gym full of cheering teenagers).

I kid... I love pep rallies.  Because when else can you see some of your favorite coworkers doing the Cupid Shuffle?!?!?! :)

Friday afternoon Dave was able to take a couple hours off and we celebrated outside soaking in some sunshine.  It's been GLOOMY here for weeks and we all needed some vitamin D.
Luke wasn't feeling 100%, so he watched a movie inside while Mason (wearing his snake gloves that one of my teacher friends gave him) played in the sandbox (which is SUPER messy from winter - eeek!)

Apparently he was "Star Wars guy!!!" :)

While Mason was playing, Griffin and I went out front to wave bye to Dave as he headed back to work...

She's going to be 2 in less than three months.
Hold me.

After dinner for the kids, Luke and G went to bed, I gobbled down a salad and then Mason and I ended the night watching a movie in my bed.  Perfection.

Saturday morning we divided and conquered.... the boys hit up WalMart and the library and G and I headed for the grocery store.  They had the little carts out and it looked like fun...

.... and it was super fun and cute for about 2 minutes...

At which Miss Independend decided it was more fun to wander than push :)

In an epic momfail moment, I scooped her up - screaming and gnashing of teeth ensued - and popped her into a big cart.  With the help of a cookie from the bakery we were able to finish our shopping trip in relative peace and ended the trip with a cup of water from Starbucks :)

When we got home, I snapped a few pics of G sporting one of her new Valentines shirts from Paper Doll Clothing.  They selected her to be a brand rep and I am so excited!!!

The rest of our afternoon was fairly uneventful as we watched our friendly backyard squirrel weasel his way into our "squirrel-proof" bird feeder...

... and then watched Jack Bauer lick cheese off of Griffin's face:) hahaha

While all three kiddos napped (WOO HOO!!!), Jack Bauer and I spent some time in the front yard getting some sun...

... and I prepped some meals for the week.

Saturday night my mom came over and hung with us during dinner...

... and then Sunday morning it was just me and these two for church since Dave stayed home with Luke (since he had a fever on Saturday).

Holding hands!!!

I can't even with the tippy toes and the way she looks at him :)

Mason has discovered Chuck Taylors (I thrifted them FOREVER ago!) and he's in love!

After church G got some kisses :)

And everyone ran around like crazy people (including the dog)
Ignore the shaggy pillow.... it's for G's room makeover! EEK!

I wore my new Evys Tree blush diana wrap to church on Sunday and got so many compliments!  It's flowy and comfy and the color is GORGEOUS!  It came with a pin to pin it together at the top and there are lots of ways to wear it.  The knit part is also a hood on the back - so fun!!!

Mason was supposed to be changing his clothes... instead I found him doing this :)

This is a weird pic of Mason, but I love it of Jack Bauer.... he follows him around all. day. long.

We spent the rest of the afternoon working outside...

... and this sweet boy was feeling better and was getting his "sparkle" back :)

His bed head was OUT OF CONTROL (and he desperately needs a haircut), but I can't resist that dimple!!!

The boys got ot all of our Fisher Price Little People and we basically had a blast.

 I graded papers..,.

... with some help from my assistant :)

And Mason made a scarecrow :) hahaha

My little engineer worked on this...

... and surprised none of us with a working roller coaster :)

This little one took a nap...

And then my whole "motley crew" set out on a walk.  Because 65 degrees in January is too good to resist.

Mason marches to the beat of his own drum.  He has strong opinions about pretty much everything - including what he wears.  Which, if he gets his way, includes lots of colors and backwards stripey shorts.  People can be mean.  And judgmental.  And cruel.  And I hope that he NEVER EVER EVER lets what other people say affect him being him.  This is, obviously, my prayer for all of my kids.... that they are confident and sure enough in who they are that they don't let the opinions of others influence how they feel about themselves.  I have to work on this too.... because even though "sticks and stones", peoples words DO hurt.  End rant :)

Speaking of strong opinions... this girl loooooves her some sparkle :)

After a quick stop at Gibi and Haha's house we continued the walk/ride...

Yes... I'm pulling two kids and a dog.... with a venti Starbucks in hand. :) hahaha

Rough life, Jack Bauer.

Why so few pictures of Luke??? Because he was at least 50 yards ahead of us at all times.  That boy can SCOOTER!!!

It was an awesome weekend - even with 1/3 a little under the weather.  I am NOT ready for Spring yet (because Spring means Summer is around the corner - UGH!), but the little "tease" of it we got was awesome and just what we needed.  We're spending today doing a few things around the house and enjoying a day all together... and snapping a few pics for my post tomorrow!

Don't forget to get your posts ready for Show and Tell Tuesday!  I love a good organizational idea and can't wait to see yours!

  1. Sometime you should do a post on having a puppy with 3 little ones. You make it look easy and fun, but doesn't he chew and make messes, too?! I thought that was so hard when we did it several years ago. I'm sorry that people have been malicious to you- it seems like when they hide behind a computer the claws can really come out. My kids and I love your blog and think your kiddos are adorable and that you're doing a great job!

    1. Hey! I don't know if there's anything "post worthy" about Jack Bauer - simply because I don't think it's really anything we've done. hahaha From the day we got him he sleeps all night (like 9 pm - 7 am) without whining or having to go out. He has the occasional accident, but we take him out often (when we're home.... when I'm working he can hold it all day) and when he gets super rambunctious he happily goes back in his crate. He's really not a chewer (although he did pull the corner of my kitchen mat apart. hahaha) and for now his little bone seems to satisfy him :) As of right now he's a super easy puppy!

  10. I am a low-key, slow to anger lady, but hearing that someone was mean to Mason makes me so mad! How could anyone have anything unkind to say about your sweet boy??

    1. Just to clarify :) No one was specifically mean to Mason - it was more just a general statement about people thinking that it's okay to say mean things about others under the guise of anonymity or constructive criticism. I was raised by the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" mantra.... but apparently lots of others weren't. ;)

    2. I agree, it's a shame that some people can't help themselves. I can only speculate that they must have a lot of hurting going on if they want to bring others down that badly. Another thought I had....as teachers, we tell our students to believe in themselves, not let bullies get to them, etc. But we are all human and unkind words hurt, no matter what. Even when we're adults, even when we tell ourselves we shouldn't let it get to us. I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry for whatever harsh things were directed to you or your loved ones.

  11. My teacher heart grew a few sizes reading your advice to Mason because the kids in striped pants and colorful shoes without a care in the world are the ones who always seem to shine a little brighter. I see so many people try to change these awesome quirks that truly make them the greatest kids. My favorite student (I know we aren't supposed to have favorites...) ever was an 8 year old who only wore Beatles shirts and Chucks, watched old black and white movies and referred to his classmates as "the kids". His parents let him be unapologetically himself and he is going to do such big things. When kids would make the occasional comment he would look at me and say "will they ever get it?" And shake his head like he felt bad for them hahah He inspired me to be confident in me and you are giving Mason that same confidence! Its so admirable and I wish everyone was the same way! Huge "way to go" (sorry for the ramble....i was just really excited to read this today Hahaha)

  13. Love seeing all your babes, and how much fun y'all have! It was gorgeous in Tennessee this weekend too, except for the crazy wind. So we had to spend part of it outside (esp. since naps are a no go from taking away the paci Saturday). And on a side note this post made my heart sing even more because of the helmet...Go Titans! 😄

  14. We had the best weather here in Georgia, too! I was so happy to see the sun again! I have to chime in with support for Mason--poop on the haters--"ain't nobody got time for that"-- and I was raised like you--if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. :)

  17. I love how down to earth you are, and how your life isn't 'perfect'....and yet it so is. You keep it real, which I really appreciate. And awesome what you wrote about Mason. Sorry that people have been mean....that would hurt my heart too.

  18. Looks like a great weekend!! And I so agree - people need to shush if they don't have something nice to say! Keep up the good work mama, letting your kids personalities shine thru whether that be thru their clothes or their art or whatever! :D

    Thanks!

  24. Oh Mason! I swear he and Xavier would be best buddies if we lived closer! They are two peas in pod! Love seeing all the cuteness that is GG! And I am glad to hear Luke is feeling better!
X experienced round 2 of sickness that included strep! Now I have all this crud again :(
And that picture of pasta salad looks so yummy!

  26. I love your blog and your kids are adorable. I also have three kids. Two older boys then out tutu ballerina princess as she calls herself. My one son dresses himself too and I'm constantly surprised at how many people comment when we are out in public about the shirts inside out or backwards. One woman didn't let up while we were in the grocery checkout and my son was on the verge of tears. He had been so proud of himself.
