Harvest Party 2013

This past Saturday night was our Sunday School class's annual Harvest Party.  I literally look forward to this party all year long. I love the costumes.  I love the kids.  I love the fellowship.  And I especially love the crock pots.  Yes, people.  Crock pots and crock pots full of delicious soups, stews and other deliciousness.  I definitely love the crock pots.  :)

If you're curious, I brought my Best Pulled Pork EVER and it was a hit as always.

These weren't the costumes I intended for our kiddos, but after realizing that Griffin was going to be a chicken and that we had a horse costume in our dress up box (doesn't everyone have a dress up box full of random horse costumes?!?!) I couldn't resist the family costume. I found a puppy dog costume for MAson and even though I SCOURED the local thrift stores and Goodwills for overalls and came up empty DAve and I rocked our "Farmer plaid" :)

(sidenote: apparently overalls are a hot commodity in the thrift stores... who would have guessed?!?!)

I love everything about these pictures.  I think that's why I love the family costume idea so much.  They're goofy and fun and hilarious to look back on.  I mean, seriously... how fun will this be to have when they're 17, 14 and 12?!?!?!

Here's the deal with Luke's mustache... I was painting Mason's puppy nose on with eyeliner (#keepinitclassy) and Luke got upset that he didn't get face paint too.  "Why does Mason get face paint... that's not FAIR!!!"  I explained that Mason was a puppy and so he needed a black nose, but since Luke was a cowboy on a horse he didn't really need any to which he replied, "I need a mustache, mom!".  I obliged although it ended up looking a little mariachi versus the handlebar mustache I was going for :)  Coupled with the sunglasses he insisted on wearing it was a pretty sweet ensemble.

We attempted a pic of just the boys and it failed miserably...

MY little chicken was more compliant :)

And yes... I had her headband made especially for the costume :)

This next picture cracks me up.  Luke listening intently (with a mouth full of sandwich) to Kensington talk about her wand while Ebby Lee giggles :)  Will we see this same scene 10 years from now?!?! hehehe

Mason West was in his element... being his normal "personality plus" self :)  He found a set of fairy wings and thought it was HILARIOUS that the other girls didn't want him to have them...

... I love that you can't even see his face but you can totally tell that he's laughing like a crazy person :)

And Kensington's stance and face in the next pic... priceless!!!

The temperature dropped quickly, but thankfully Griffin had her chicken costume, baby Uggs and snuggles from all my friends to keep her toasty warm :)

The party did not disappoint and I'm already looking forward to next year!  LOVE!
