Fourteen Homecomings Later

It's Homecoming week at the school where I teach and the spirit days, mums, pep rallies and tailgate parties all bring me right back to Homecoming week of 1999 when Dave and I started dating :)

We were both in marching band (shout out! MHS Royal Pride! hahaha) and I remember going to all the Homecoming activities and parties together.

Dave was on Drumline and I played the bass trombone (I know... in case marching band wasn't cool enough...) and therefore he was WAAAAAY cooler than I was.  My friend Erin was on drumline and at the beginning of the school year, the plan was for me to go to Black Eyed Pea with her and meet up with the drumline guys there... except I wasn't planning on meeting up with Dave, I was HOPING to get to sit with another guy. :)  Other said guy didn't show up, I ended up sharing mozzarella sticks with Dave and the rest is history.

Dave was a year ahead of me in school (he was a Junior) and he could DRIVE!!! #holla!

Dave was such a good sport.... he drove my friends and I to Collin Creek mall in his Grandma's old Crown Victoria so we could try on ridiculous clothes, took me to Taco Bell before every football game and carried my books to class.  He would even drive all the way across town to pick me up and take me to school (probably because my mom would make him sausage biscuits and potato bread sandwiches, but whatever) :)

Fourteen Homecomings later and he still drives me around... but now it's in a mini van with our three kids in the back instead of a 1990 Crown Victoria full of teenage girls.  Fourteen Homecomings later and we still stop in at Sonic to share mozzarella sticks and fourteen Homecomings later and he's still my very best friend.

Forever.  For Always.  And No Matter What. :)

  5. What a sweet post about you and your hubby's journey! I’ve just recently started reading your blog and have enjoyed it so much. I was nominated for the Liebster Award by another blogger and wanted to pass it along to you. It is an award for bloggers with fewer than 200 followers and is a fun way to learn more about the blogger. See my blog post for a list of questions to answer if you would like to participate: http://chroniclesofcarroll.blogspot.com/2013/09/liebster-award.html.
