Sr. Trip - Days 1 and 2

This is where I've been the last couple of weeks - on the Senior Trip, then proctoring exams and wrapping up the school year.  Hopefully I'll be better about blogging this summer.

On the first day of the senior trip we met at the airport, flew to DC, rode the metro to a few blocks from our hotel and then walked... and walked and walked and walked. :)  We got to the hotel around 11:00 p.m., ordered pizzas, scarfed them down and then headed to bed.

We got up bright and early the next morning and were out the door by 7:30 a.m.  While the kids headed to Arlington Cemetary, I went to the Holocaust Museum with another one of the chaperones to stand in line and get ticket for the Holocaust Museum.  After waiting in line and getting the tickets, Keith and I met up with the kids and we walked around the Smithsonian mall for a bit and then headed to the Old Post Office for an early lunch. (side note: all my pics are from my iPhone since I didn't want to lug around my big camera)

We rode the glass elevator up to the top to get a fantastic view.  Currently the old post office tower is the tallest observation point in DC.

After the Old Post Office we went to Ford's Theater for a tour.  How crazy is it that these girls (and most of the Seniors, actually) were my very first batch of 7th graders EVER?!?!?!

Michal thought this guy was super cute ("for someone from History" hahaha). I don't remember who he was - but I do remember that he was an assassin who stabbed people in the face.  Nice.

After Fords Theater we walked some more and made a quick pit stop at the National Archives.

We visited the Holocaust Museum (which was INCREDIBLE) and then hopped on the Metro for dinner.

After dinner we got on a shuttle to the Kennedy Center to see Shear Madness...

After a shuttle trip, metro ride and walk back to the hotel we were showered and in bed around 12:30 a.m.  EXHAUSTED!!! :)
