Graduation

My very first batch of 8th graders graduated this past Friday and it was truly surreal - it seems like YESTERDAY that they were crazy little 13-year olds that I took to Fossil Rim and who used to hang out in my room every day after school... and now they're going to college!

Friday morning Mason and I headed to the Academic Award ceremony (Academic and Diligence awards for each class, honor rolls, our character award, etc. etc):
He was super sweet and quiet during awards and after that we headed to our staff luncheon and then a graduation rehearsal. (Our school has all of the upper school faculty wear gowns and the stoles and stuff and we all walk in at the beginning so we run through that part)
That afternoon I was ironing my gown for that evening's graduation and Luke went and tried on the cap (that THANKFULLY we don't have to wear!).

As I was looking through these pictures later that night, I couldn't help but get all emotional because I bet 50 people came up to me at graduation (granted, I had Mason with me) and told me how their little so-and-so was JUST Mason's age and now he/she is graduating or told me to squeeze my little guys tight that night because before I knew it they'd be 18 and moving out. :(

Talk about depressing!!!

So... as I look at these pictures of my sweet three-year old in his underwear, Thomas PJs and mortar board I can't help but wonder if one of these pictures will be shown as part of the Senior slide show at his graduation or appear in his Senior ad in the yearbook (every year my mom and I pour over the Senior ads and marvel at how all the kids look EXACTLY the same now as they did when they were toddlers... so funny!)
