Dave's Trip to Germany

Two weeks ago, Dave went to Germany with our church to run a baseball camp for local kids. The trip is completely evangelical in that the idea is to bring kids to the baseball camp and hope that they return to the church with their parents.
After a nine-hour flight to Frankfurt, the team set off on a four-hour bus ride to Bad Oyenhausen. On the way they stopped at a castle...

They don't all stay together - but instead are split up in groups of two or three and live with a host family. This is Dave's host home:

Dave coached the Yankees:Every day they did "team time" where they had a devotional as a team:

And at night they had a "Texas Challenge" and a night service:

One night they had a game where the group from FBC played a German minor league team and this is what happened:

There were LOTS of kids who attended the camp last year and returned this year. All the kids who were on Dave's team last year and were returning wanted their picture taken with their old coach :)

About 185 kids attended the camp, their were 30 people from FBC who went and they were assisted by 15 translators:

On the last night they had a closing service and the church had almost 3 times more people than it normally does!

Firetruck!

Yesterday afternoon we drove down the street to pick Gibi up so we could all go to Hobby Lobby and as we turned the corner we saw a huge firetruck and ambulance! They were taking pictures for the fire academy and were wrapping up so I stopped and asked if Luke could check out the truck. The firemen were beyond nice! I didn't have my good camera, so I had to resort to cell phone pictures...

Thank you McKinney Firemen! Luke talked about this nonstop last night and has been talking about it ALL morning!

Latest Work

There's LOTS of new and EXCITING stuff going on on my other site: Slightly Askew Designs. Be sure to click over and check it out!

Slightly Askew Stuff - Presley Grace

My sweet friend Jeni is about to have a baby girl and I couldn't have been more excited when her hostesses asked me to do the invitation.
My little guy, Luke, and her little guy, Jackson are almost the same age and although I love watching them drink dirty sand water and horde trucks... I can't wait to get to hold a sweet little pink-clad baby girl while we do it!

Once the invitation was done her sister-in-law asked me if I could make a name banner as well. I've only made banners for myself and they're usually pretty big, so I was excited to get to try something smaller (and girlier!). I used black and white velvet embossed paper for the back and velvet ribbon to hold it all together.

Then I added some sweet little sparkles to finish it off.
I think it fit the space really well and matched Jeni's outfit at the shower perfectly! :)
And speaking of shower - here's a picture of a bunch of us at the shower. Thanks Jeni's friend Paige for the last 2 pictures - since I totally cut and paste them from Jeni's blog!

"Can Kensington Come Out and Play?"

It's no secret that Luke and Kensington have a serious friendship goin' on (as much as you can when you're two)... but they ask about each other and genuinely are excited when they see each other at church or out and about. :) What makes this deal even sweeter is that we live down the street! I have a feeling that these two will be riding bikes back and forth and spending lots of time playing together between our two houses.
Before the Shulls left for their vacation, they invited Luke down to play in the sprinkler... ... and eat Popsicles!

Kensington and Luke really enjoyed drinking out of the sprinkler,
a lot :)
I wanted to get a group picture, but Kensington was not in the mood to participate, so I tried to get one of just the boys. Luke was more interested in rolling around in the grass...
... but Smith was a pro! :)
The rolling around in the grass isn't super significant other than the fact that we figured out that the "sensitivity" that we thought Luke had (that causes his eczema) is probably more of a full blown grass allergy since the next morning he was covered in a rash and had a runny nose and red, puffy eyes. Good to know!
Even though Luke looks a little lazy-eyed I had to post this because I thought it was too cute anyway. hahaha
