Prom and the Auction

This past Friday night was MCA's high school Prom and was the first one in four years that I haven't been responsible for. When I opted out of the Student Government Leadership position last summer I knew it would be a big weight off of my shoulders and that was reaffirmed as I drove to the Grand Hotel 1) not two hours early 2) not on the phone with a chocolate fountain vendor and 3) without having to make a stop at Best Buy to pick up a TV for a door prize :) This time I wasn't concerned about what music was playing or if there was enough food...
... instead I got to man the door and check kids in as they arrived :)

It was MUCH more laid back than I was used to.
And it was great to see all of the kids before they took their shoes off, their hair down and got all sweaty from dancing. hahahaha
Then on Saturday night it was MCAs Enchanted Evening, our big auction fundraiser event. The students were servers...
... and greeters...
... and item runners. I was nervous about my PJ Party being bid on and my expectations were met and then surpassed when several people were aggressivley bidding on it (like, stationed beside the piece of paper aggressive) and it ended up selling for $300+. One of the families who didn't get it was super upset and so I offered to do a second pj party for a matching donation! So that's over $600 for the school's scholarship program and 2 pajama parties at my house :) I'll keep you posted on how those go. hahaha! One went to a 7th grade girl and the other to a Sophomore. I bid on several silent auction items, and ended up with this super cute cake stand. I had to take a picture, becuase I knew that if I just said cake stand no one would get it. :)
It was a super busy and fun weekend and I have another one coming up in a few days! The end of the school year is CA-RAZY!

On the Course

One of our favorite things to do in the Spring/Summer is go out onto the golf course and let Luke (and Cadence) run crazy! :)
This year Luke discovered the sand traps...

... and he'w become a little bit more adventurous than last year (although, Cadence keeps up with him wherever he goes).

Small Group - April

We hosted small group at our house this month and each month it become more and more evident that our kiddos are growing at a rate WAY too fast for our liking: Jaxson and Luke were wrestling/hugging/fighting on the love sac :)

Our failed attempt at a group picture:
Luke REALLY likes Kensington :)
When small group was over we walked outside to say bye to everyone and Luke made a bee-line for Kensington's house (since they live down the street). Dave caught him before he got too far but he kept pointing and saying "Kensington". It was really sweet :)

Two-Year Check-Up

Luke had his two-year check-up yesterday (*sniff* *sniff*) and we confirmed our suspicions that he is perfect and healthy :)

We recently switched from our pediatrician (who we LOVED, but whose busy, crowded waiting room - which we ALWAYS had to wait in we didn't love so much) to a local (like 1/4 mile away!) family practice and Luke didn't seem to notice the difference (it probably helped that we hadn't been to our Doctor since his 1-year check-up!)
He snacked on crackers and flipped through GOLF magazine while we filled out our paperwork :) And then it was in to the exam room
He was all smiles and didn't even cry when he got his shot!
Here he's cheering for being in the 50th percentile for both height and weight! As much fun as our visit was, let's cross our fingers that we're not back again until he's three!

Paint the Ballpark Blue

Last Saturday, Grandpa, Luke and I headed out to Dr. Pepper Ballpark to watch the Frisco RoughRiders in support of CASA of Collin County. Luke was a "little" bit young this year - he didn't really pay any attention to the game and had a major case of the wiggles :)
He got a cute hat though that, surprisingly enough, he wore the entire time! (and several days after) :)The weather was PERFECT!

We left around the middle of the third inning (we had gotten there about 45 minutes early) and I think Luke had the most fun of the evening "dig dig digging" in the dirt on our way out :)
Attempt #1 at a picture of Luke and Grandpa (I took about 12 and this was the best. hahaha)
Attempt at a picture with mommy :)

We're hoping that going to this event (or at least a RoughRiders game) will become a fun EARLY summer tradition :)

Grads

I've had so much fun over the past couple of weeks having a chance to work on a few different graduation announcements and even a wedding invitation!!! So fun!!! I finished up a few samples for Carlee last night and loved them all so much I just had to share.

I think they kind of blow the traditional folded, gilded, name-card ones you buy from the high school out of the water. ;) but that's just me. Hahaha. If you know a grad who might be looking for a unique announcement... Be sure to pass along my email ;) Andrea@slightlyaskewdesigns.com

So cute!

Luke got a hat at the RoughRiders game Saturday night and wants to wear it all the time now. We were running to Lowes last night and when we went to get him out of the car this is what we saw:

Messages from Dave

Dave's weekends are typically Sunday and Monday, which makes Mondays "father/son day". Throughout the day Dave will text me pictures of what they're up yo and they usually look a lot like this...
