Highlights

Here are a few random highlights from our week...
Monday night ~ Bunco at my house ~ I pretty much kicked butt
Tuesday night ~ Bible study at Kelly's ~ I kind of kicked butt at that, too :)
Friday ~ Early release from school, Christmas shopping at Target, etc.
Saturday started with our usual 7 a.m. wakeup call from Luke. The picture below is how we find him pretty much every morning:

This is the part where I petition all of my mommy friends for your sage advice - Luke pees through his diaper EVERY night! We've tried Pampers baby dry, Pampers Cruisers, Huggies and Target brand. I am open to pretty much anything!
After Luke was cleaned up our morning proceeded as usual and I dropped him off at Gibi's house to take a nap while I headed to Shay's for Rachel and Jaxson's shower...
Despite feeling pretty icky (I've had a cold/sinus infection/yuckiness), I had a great time. Rachel got some really cute things, now all she needs is for Jaxson to get here.
*Side Note for Rachel* When you gave me the hostess gift after the shower, I kind of thought it was bubble bath - and I think I made several comments about how much I enjoyed bubble baths - Don't worry - I realized that it was dish soap (and great smelling dish soap at that) before I bathed myself in it :)
After the shower I picked Luke up and he and I headed home for an afternoon of playing.
He's very into knocking over block towers: He also enjoys playing with Cadence's icky tennis balls, she lets him hold it for a few minutes and then gently takes it from him
Here are a couple more cute pics of him playing

Luke worked up quite an appetite after so much rolling around and since he was taking a bath anyway, I let him make a HUGE mess with his dinner. He's always trying to grab the spoon and so I let him have it. He proceeded to rub it in his hair and everywhere else...
After dinner I tried to pull his sweatshirt off at the table so I wouldn't risk dumping applesauce all over the carpet on our way to his room and it got stuck on his head. Dave told me I wasn't allowed to post this pic, but I thought it was too funny not to share...
When I finally did get the sweatshirt off of his head, the applesauce in his hair made it stand completely on end...
I put him in his crib to get the bath ready and he managed to get his legs stuck in the rail in about 4.5 seconds. As you can tell, it's really bothering him:
Today was another great day - we slept in, organized the garage, cleaned out the attic, I made chocolate chip cookies, meat loaf and baby food and I got my grading all organized. We had a lot of great family time which (as always) included quite a bit of reading:

You asked for it...

Some of ya'll have been asking about whether or not I could do your Christmas cards, and although I never really thought about it before now, the answer is YES! I've mocked up a couple of different styles below to get you thinking, but really they're completely customizable to your color preferences, wording choices, etc. All I need is your digital photo(s) and approximately 10 days (in order to design your card, make any changes and get them printed).
I'll let you know for sure in the next day or so (I still have to confirm with my printer), but I believe that they'll be $1.20 for a 5x7 with an envelope. If you'd just like the digital file so that you can have it printed at the venue of your choice (Walgreens, Walmart, etc. run approx. $1.25/print) I can do that also.
Anyway, if you're thinking that you'd like me to do your card, please let me know so that I can start working on it and get envelopes ordered- even if I don't have your pictures yet.
I'm looking forward to getting to be a part of your Christmas cards - and I promise to keep them a secret from everyone until you send them out :)

Sippy Cup

Luke attempted to drink out of a sippy cup today, and although he has the general idea down, he's still a ways from completely getting it (see video below) :)

The following picture has nothing to do with Luke drinking out of a sippy cup, but Dave surprised me with an early anniversary present - 2 new Sid Dickens tiles - YAY!
(the bottom two are my new ones)

Blessings

So to start off with, here are some cute pictures of my very favorite blessing, Luke!
In the first three pictures he's wearing a pair of his big boy pjs... they've been tucked away in a drawer for when he got "big" and when I came across them this week I realized that they're already almost too small! He's growing WAY too fast! The fourth picture is of him in a knit romper/coverup/coat/thing :) that Gibi knit for him before he was even born. She's a HUGE blessing!!!

On Wednesday afternoon I got to participate in the blessing ceremony for MCAs new Student Life Center. It was really neat, the students all got to write blessings on the walls of the building before they get covered up. I also helped the students put together time capsules that will be encased in one of the walls. Some of the items enclosed included letters to the future, a "day in the life" video, cds with songs they like to listen to, prom pictures, a twinkie, etc.

As the Student Government Sponsor I CAN NOT WAIT for the building to be open... I already have plans for an end-of-the-year dodgeball tournament/lock-in and next year's Homecoming dances :)

The picture below is of my foreign exchange student Sieun after the blessing ceremony.
I just thought it was cute :) Friday was our quarterly MCA Community Outreach Day and we sent our entire upper school (JH and SH) out into the community to serve. I got to take a fantastic group of Freshmen and Sophomore girls to Kingsley Place where we hung out with and got to know some of the residents. I think that the residents were as big of a blessing to the girls as the girls were to the residents. They kept wanting to stay longer and (in typical high school girl fashion) had to give everyone about 5 hugs each before we left.

Weekend recap

Here's a photo recap of our weekend:
Luke read books with Grandpa
Luke took several baths
(due in part to the fact that he has a tendency to pee on himself as soon as you pull off his diaper)

No, he didn't pull himself up, but he did hold on and keep himself standing for a few minutes
On Saturday we went to Allen Outlet Mall, but we read with Gibi before we left
Here Gibi and Luke are discussing what they've read
Gibi's reading was highly entertaining :)
Luke switched to the bigger size paci - he gagged at first, but got the hang of it pretty quickly
Dave took Luke and Cadence out for a walk on the golf course

Then we went out for dinner at Brio in Allen Luke colored with Gibi,
ate A LOT of puffs,
And played with Grandpa's hat...
...and face :)
After dinner we went and walked around outside and Luke was pretty enthralled with the waterfall and the giant bronze horse statues

With Gibi and Grandpa :)
